Keygen lights up Symantec Corporate AV like the 4th of July. I felt a little frisky, so I disabled auto-protect and ran the keygen. HA! They popped up after about 15 minutes.

It installed a few assorted trojans, but nothing that took more than a couple of reboots, a spybot scan, a hijack this scan and a fresh av scan to get rid of it.

Yuo just can't trust your fellow pirates anymore. Sheesh!

Thanks noone (#15) I was intreged as to how it found the images, turns out from your description it's not an image search (as google images is), it would be more like an image crawler. Still, could be good if you do need to 'crawl' and if it works.

guys don't be fooled, this doesn't search the web for pictures like google, this searches specific websites for pictures and then lets you search in the results

you can't just type birds somewhere and be presented with pictures of birds...

RollBack RX is probably closer to SandBoxie because it actually does the same fragment based technology. Though I do thank you for putting that on my list of apps. Anyways that is why I put the "etc..." because there are so many apps out there that can protect your system while you test an unknown application.

Well they aren't all backup programs, some of them are like "sandbox based" apps. Try and Decide allows you to run the app and if you like it then you can apply the changes or discard them. DeepFreeze doesn't allow any changes unless you tell them program to be in thaw mode but otherwise every time you restart the computer, it will return your OS back to normal and discarding all changes that were made. SteadyState is like deepfreeze but it allows you to apply the changes made. Only ones that are considered backup (to my knowledge) is RollBack RX and Acronis (but you don't need to backup your system with acronis to use try and decide).

easiest way would be to use a virtual PC (eg. 'VMWare') or an app like 'Sandboxie' instead of a backup program.

Well the best way around keygens or any program you aren't sure about is to use programs like: *SteadyState, *DeepFreeze, ShadowUser, GoBack, FirstDefense, *RollBack RX, *Acronis Trueimage Try and Decide, etc...

What these programs usually do is create a virtual bubble of your system and prevent viruses from being saved into your system. Each program may go about it a little differently, but more or less they do about the same thing. I've tested and used the programs with the asterisks (*) which they all did a good job.

Usually the viruses in a program are either trojans or spyware and rarely are they actually harmful programs that delete files. At least that is what I have experienced because what does a person have to gain by deleting all your documents, especially if they don't even know you? So chances are they just want to be able to access your computer or at least advertise spam to you.

With that said, the best way to find out if the program is adding any trojan or virus is by running hijackthis first and saving the document of your startup files. Then run the keygen and hijackthis to see what was altered. I only mention this is because sometimes these virus scanners give false positives and I fear they do it on purpose so you don't use keygens and cracks.

By the way I am not saying that this isn't a virus/trojan/spyware but it might not be and if you truely want to test it out then use one of the programs above. They work great and return everything back to normal.
