Phenomenon is a new reality based talent competition series from NBC. 10 ’selected’ illusionists/mentalists are put together in order perform their tricks on celebrity guests each week. Then, the populace votes and decides who will be eliminated. Phenomenon was based on the Israeli series The Successor, hosted earlier in 2007 by Uri Geller. In my opinion the show really hypes up ‘the unexplained’ ’shocking events’ ‘beyond belief’; while including far too many frivolous lighting effects. The inclusion of ‘freaky’ background music and fancy adjectives by the hosts makes it seem more fake than it needs to be. This show is very poorly received on TV.com with 6.0/10 with 20 votes. The majority rlslog readers hate ‘illusions’ in general so just spare your comments.
The search for the next great mentalist where illusions and intrigue can lead to a top prize of $250,000. World-renowned mystifier Criss Angel and famed mentalist Uri Geller will assess and then offer their unfiltered opinions as 10 carefully selected contestants compete. Each week, the contestants demonstrate their mystifying talents on a panel of celebrity guests who experience the spellbinding illusions live, along with the studio audience. Fans are challenged with figuring out how the contestants perform their tricks, and whether any are based on real psychic abilities. Users can participate through forums and interactive games.

Horrible…thought it would be great but boy was i wrong.
I feel that ‘Eran’ performed a watered down and ripped off version of Derren Brown’s own live russian roulette with a real gun, not just a nail gun. I all ready new it was #5 that was loaded even before she started shouting out the numbers. the idea of the show sounds great…but then again, Criss Angel and Uri Geller..can it get worse?
Next season Copperfield in the jury…i just dont hope so.
I never post here, but I must post and let the world know that this was a complete waste of life on everyone’s part. I feel sorry that Criss Angel is now going to be associated with a sinking piece of crap.

Chris Angel is already associated with lots of crap. He is a poor magician and uses far too many camera tricks and stooges in his shows.
His new show that he is taking to Vegas will either make or break him, He has put so much money into it. The likelyhood of it though is that it will just turn into something along the lines of Cirque du Soleil with a little illusion.
Anyway, As a magician and mentalist i feel the need to waste my time in downloading/watching this.
It’s all done with special effects and CGI, none of it is the slight of hand tricks or illusions that magicians used to do.
I had some hopes for the show. I quite enjoy illusions and tricks, but I found the contestants boring and the tricks even more dull. I’ve seen the tricks before and I’ve seen them done better. I could tell by watching that Chris Angel did as well. He even called out the trick by the mesmerist and using the guy who created the concept as an example. The only remote entertainment was Angel being honest with the contestants. The judge dichotomy was much like a Paula/Simon partnership. I’ll give the 2nd episode a chance in case one of the other 6 contestants is entertaining. If I see nothing fun after next week’s show, it’ll be over.
