I feel a wave of Japanese breeze! HATRED released an expansion disc for a popular RPG Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition Of Illuminus. This game from SEGA was an easy booty for the group, because it has no protection at all. According to first comments, the game is playable only offline, which is kind of pity, as it’s focusing mainly on multiplayer. The game does not require the original Phantasy Star Universe game (it’s 4GB+ anyway).
Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus is the expansion pack for the popular Phantasy Star Universe game, bringing a more personalized and interactive universe to the acclaimed series. In addition to new enemies, weapons, levels and cities there will be more options available for gamers to further individualize and customize the look of their avatars. Ambition of the Illuminus continues the exciting PSU story online as the player’s personal online avatar is now the central character, investigating and working to restore peace in the chaotic Gurhal System. This game is based on the .hack// Anime series which I enjoyed watching.
And I’m glad this is a stand alone version because the original game is ‘Pay Per Month’ game or forget you can play it.

How many peeps are playing FPS games on a console?
More than enough to give the consoles+game produces a large enough market share while any sane person knows the only true way to play a FPS is not with a gamepad but by a multitasking system called 2 hands, mouse and keyboard system.
@ Eon I really don’t think this is based on the .hack//anime series. The Phantasy Star franchise is at least as old as the Sega Genesis and that came out like in 1990, while .hack// came out around 2002.
I tried the original and it was really only aimed at kids. The story was really childish, and annoyed me. I played the Phantasy Star Online alot on the gamecube before, which didn’t have much of a story, so I thought this might be fun. I was wrong.
I could only imagine this being fun in multiplayer, but that is ofcoarse impossible with this release.
My advice: Don’t download this, unless your age is 12 or lower.

PSO i think 1st came out for dreamcast which u could go online which i liked played it forever

Im not sure. The original had an offline single player version (which I personally liked, mainly cause it was almost completely based on cutscenes…no better way to turn me on then with cutscenes…<_<), but it did have a multiplayer mode. A while after it came out, they started releasing single player quests in the multiplayer mode. This expansion is nothing but those same quests packed together with a few extra cutscenes. Thing is, the original “extra” quests were for multiplayer only (even though the quests themselves were single player…), which meant single player mode couldnt touch them. I dont know if they pulled that same crap, cause I want the single player with loads of cutscenes (probably wont be happening cause your “personal avatar” cant have a voice…).
I guess Ill down it and find out…

This game looks like crap but i must say that “Phantasy Star Online” that came out for Dreamcast a LONG LONG time ago was, and in my opinion is still the BEST CONSOLE ONLINE RPG OF ALL TIME. It was way way way way ahead of its time and was actually quite easily playable over 56k lines.
Why was PSO so awesome you ask? BECAUSE YOU COULD STEAL PEOPLES MAIN WEAPON WHEN THEY DIED ! This we awesome beyond all awesomeness. Yes when someone died you had the oportunity to actually take their weapon as in they cannot have it back, as in you can disconnect from the server and go trade it to someone else. Imagine how awesome games like World of Warcraft would be if people dropped their weapon when they died?

I uninstalled the first game within an hour of starting it just because the keyboard controls were horribly bad. It was obviously a very poor attempt to convert from a console game that was never intended to be played on PC.
Don’t waste your time on this unless you have a game controller hooked up to your PC, and even then I wouldn’t recommend it.

Nhiều bạn máy ở nhà không có mạng net nên mỗi lần chạy game yêu cầu update GameGuard sẽ không được nên ko thể chơi trò này. Vì vậy tui hướng bà con cách giả lập server GameGuard như sau:
- Download file gửi kèm về, giải nén và chạy file shttps.exe để giải nén chương trình giả lập và chọn thư mục là c:\shttps
- Chép đè file hosts trong thư mục c:\shttps\ vào thư mục c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\
- Chạy chương trình c:\shttps\http.exe để giả lập GameGuard
- Chạy game Phantasy Star Universe

Not going to lie, the game’s really fun but it looses its appeal to most players because of its amazingly high repetitiveness. Fans of PSO probably will like it; I thought PSU wasn’t that bad either…. Story probably could have done better with some of the worse voiced parts.
The controls are going to piss you off unless you use a PC gamepad or something. I used a PS2 controller with a PS2/PS3 pad converter, works fine except the D-Pad is mapped as the left stick (no hat?).
Not so sure about the story on AoI; I would want to play it for the fact that it’s a sequel. The first mission alone, however, is killing me.
Voicing seems to have been reduced, although some visual aspects have been improved. Too bad you can’t transfer data from PSU’s story mode; I bet many people didn’t bother to play Extra mode just to get the story all over again.

Ok…Apparently I managed to make it work…All you guys have to do is add the game to the Firewall permission list…It worked for me…Hope it helps…

Err…Sure…Go to your control panel -> Firewall -> Then add the Phantasy Star Universe:AoL to the permission list…
The problem is that the windows firewall was shutting the game down before it loaded ( don’t ask me U_U )

I love the pso series… but when i extract this it says files too big despite havin 70GB free on my hard drive. Seems to be a recurring problem with many of hatreds games… as well as many others… is it so hard to compress them without f***ing up?

Post 42 Translation:
- Download the shttps.exe file, and extract the content to c:\shttps
- Copy the ‘hosts’ file from that directory to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\
- Run shttps.exe
- Run the game.
Theres a missing note on the forums in it that you have to change your proxy settings, before you can run the game.
*This can upset your internet explorer and msn.
- Go to “Control Panel” and select “Internet Options”.
- Click on the “Connections” tab.
- Click on “LAN Settings”.
- At Proxy Server section, check ‘Use a proxy server…’ and check ‘Bypass proxy server….’.
- Address is 127.0.0.1 and port is 80
- Then apply.

Well i didn´t know anything about this game, so i just downloaded the original game and than the add - on, ok guys , i´m 15!! and i played nearly everything from Crysis over Kane and Lynch to Oblivion, and i think this game is Fun. Well it sais it has a “40-hour-Story - Mode” well i needed just 25 and the day after i played the add on through, i can´t wait for the next add-on.
well i just bought the game (psu-aoi)…
and i’m stuck with word “ntfs file support only file less than 4gb” keep showing while i try to extract it…
what does that mean??

Ok idiots this game is not .hack based it is a very decent online game direct x needs to be installed to play and password is in the damm other read me. btw the people who says it sucks are the cheap ones who dont have enough money to buy gamepads and play with keyboards which makes the game suck. and another thing online play is the greatest seein as thou u have great chances of winning new weps and shyt on lvl 1 and doin fundamental things like playin cards and slots shytheads. This game to me as a rating would get and 9.5 out of 10 becuz of how long ive been playing Phantasy Star series game stright from the super nintendo

the PSU Illuminus, without the internet connection.
By first, I’d like to thank Reki_III and Maxhthc, they didn’t know they help me this much,
but, thanks to their actual involvement in this game, I came with a solution to the
actual problem.
1) OK, by first, I’m gonna show you how to make a loopback adapter:
a)Go to “Control Panel”
b)Select “Add Hardware”
c)Click next
d)Wait
e)Select “Yes, I have already connected the hardware” then next
f)Go to the bottom of the list, and select “Add a new hardware device”
g)Select “Search for and install the hardware automatically” click next
h)Click Next
i)Double click “Network Adapters”
j)Select “Microsoft”, then “Microsoft Loopback Adapter”, click Next
k)Go back to “Control Panel”
l)Go to “Network Connections”
m)Right click “Local Connection 2″ or without the 2 if it is your first network adapter.
n)Select “Properties” from the list
o)Scroll to the bottom of the list and select “Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) then click “Properties”
p)Select “Use the following IP address”
q)For IP address insert “124.78.4.91″ and for the Subnet Mask, insert “255.255.255.0″
r)Click OK, then click OK
