Persepolis 2007 DVDRip XviD-VoMiT

The VoMiT’s release of Persepolis is little old now but many people requested and suggested it to me so I will make a short post about it. It’s a french animated drama/comedy with rather high ratings from critics and fans as well. The movie holds awesome 8.2 points at IMDB and 94% at RT. The release contains English subtitles and some scenes are also English so you shouldn’t have problems understanding this story.

PERSEPOLIS presents a deeply personal coming-of-age tale about finding one’s place in the world. Based on her bestselling graphic novel, Marjane Satrapi teamed up with underground comic book artist Vincent Paronnaud to co-direct this animated big screen adaptation. The result is an electrifying, heartfelt, and original portrait of a spunky girl who surmounts countless obstacles to grow into a wise young adult. Marjane (voiced by Chiara Mastroianni) is an innocent nine-year-old living in Iran, surrounded by a loving but incredibly protective mother (Catherine Deneuve) and father (Simon Abkarian).

    January 12th, 2008 | 13:27

    it is good.
    definitely not for children, though…
it even begins with a disillusioned wakeup story of the toppling of the regimes in Iran, told to a 9 year old. and just keeps going that way. I bet soon a lot of islam-inclined guys will start calling it propaganda, but I think it’s fairly balanced. there’s even a moment when the main female protagonist falls for the sweet use of the system and punishes an oblique look at her buttocks by crying for the help of the bearded revolutionary, but soon her own granny would break down in tears for what her granddaughter had done- use the dark side of the system… needless to say, the girl understands this, too, later…

And i suppose it’s just coincidence that the US and Israel are pushing hard and fast for a war with Iran right now…?

    No, it’s just a movie…

It’s not like a lot of these stories (books) have been discredited in the past as being hoaxes (a female author in Australia not too long ago comes to mind).

    Charlie Wilson’s War… The Kite Runner… etc etc…

    “french women smell”

Hey mods, I thought you were banning people for moronic comments these days? How about this guy at number 29? He’s gotta be a contender. He obviously can’t read, or he’d know that the movie was about an Iranian woman, so he wouldn’t actually be losing anything that’s important to him, and the rest of us who aren’t morons would definitely be winning?

Awesome movie, very true to the graphic novels. It was actually better than the books in some regards. “Eye of the Tiger” in a French accent anyone? ;) Classic. Here’s to hoping that it wins LOTS of awards.

@Martin : Thanks for the post. I’ve been waiting for monthq to see this surface. Surprisingly by VOMiT of all groups…

@the guy that thinks french women smell : yes they do. Usually they even smell good :)

@the anon guy who thinks this is an opportunistic propaganda work : Wake up. The novel is a few years old already, and besides not everything in the world revolves around US politics. There are even, would you believe it, works, that do not even care about US at all but just try to tell a tale. So weird, I know…
