Here is the bug fix for this funny Penny Arcade game. Some people have problem with this game but this will fix it. Before applying the patch read NFO.

    nice release,
    BTW the dissolve advertisement RLSLOG utilizes has a tendency to crash Firefox, dunno bout IE. Just a heads up, i know ya gotta pay the bills somehow.

    This bug fix didn t do anything. It still crashes just before the character creation screen. I m running Vista Ultimate 32bit SP1.

    The bugfix was for an error message that came up a couple of times during the game. Both of them later in the game, character creation etc. worked fine without the bugfix.

    Funny, you wrote “RPG-adventure game”,
    basically you wrote; “Role playing game game”.
    (that is two game, for those thats not getting it)
    The same when people say/write ATM machine.

    Im not the language police, but for me it was the first time seeing it, so it was funny.

    And now about this crack obviously grope TE doesn’t know what to to about this bug problem.I didn’t come to that part when game crashes.let’s all hope for a better fix from Te or any other group.

    The fix just sets all the locations visited and movies seen to done, so it doesnt crash, but you miss out on all the voiceover intros and movies

    There is a simple way to sort this out. Go to http://www.playgreenhouse.com and drop $20 (£10.15) on the game :)

    It’s not a lot of money to ask and it’s not like they are a big publisher like EA or something.

    Not having a go at anyone, I often use rslog as a way to try games before I buy, especially if there is no demo. But with this game, you download the whole thing, try the first level and then play $20 (£10.15) if you like it to unlock the rest.

    then you should also have the tune for the smoke wall - because that one guy destroys the machine after it gives you the jibberish fortune (which is for the smoke wall) :O

    Fix fails. Can’t give anne gear/wind up key, can’t get ticket either among other things, can’t progress past start of pelican bay.

    Smoke wall fix:
    1) Open folder C:\Documents and Settings\YourNameHere\Local Settings\Application Data\HotheadGames\RainSlickEp1
    2) Open YourNameHere_AutoSave.sav with notepad.
    3) edit line entry movie_worshipingMimes = “0″; Change to movie_worshipingMimes = “1″;

    I can’t give the gear that I’ve obtained in Pelican Bay to Anna. I’m gonna wait til’ next proper :D

    Pato, your absolutely bloody wrong “your fired”. I just completed it as of 12:10 am this evening/morning. Stop making false bloody claims, the fix works fine, gets to the point where it will crash error 666 when you got to pick up the bit robot piece, and it plays the video (do the edit in your savegame… go back into the game click on the huge mime god guy, it will play a scene, then click the giant robot part and it the game will play right til the end trust me!!!!!!!

    Seems some are having trouble with this while others are not.

    Personally, the game plays fine right up to the point where you have to give the gear to Anna, however it just doesn’t happen.

    Could it be that the problem is OS related. I’m running on Vista 64.

    Shame I cant get any further as I was enjoying the game.

    it doesn’t work for me.
    i can’t give the giant gear to anne-claire, and the mime guy doesn’t respond… so im stuck at this point.
    and i’m not the only one…
    and what is this fix in the savegame you say?
    don’t say im making false claims ‘cuz im not, im not the only one with this problem

    Also running Vista 64, dialogue options to talk to urine guy/mime/give anne crap are gone. Comaptibility mode for XP doesn’t resolve. :/

    Also yes, seems fix also unlocked all movies for some reason and has removed the voiceover guy after 1st level.

    I got Windows XP SP2 32bit and I can’t give gear back to Anne, there are 3 options:
    1. What to do next?
    2. Upgrading weapons.
    3. Goodbye..

    Maybe I should start the game from the beginning? ;/

    Look guys youll get a lot more fulfilment from just being persistent with the game, it can be completed I completed it yesterday (done it in a day!), the most important thing is looking in every nook and cranny, pick up anything u can, bash as many bins and crates as you can. All i done is use the cracked bugfixed exe file over the top of the existing crack and i got right until the point on pelican island where i went through the smoked screen saw the big MIME god so i picked up the robot piece and it crashed. This is where i edited my autosave game file to say that i’d watched the mime scene and then i went back clicked on the big mime guy, then collected the robot piece and it worked fine til the end of the game.

    I am on xp sp3 (32bit) so i’d recommend for those that cant run it on vista just download windows virtual machine and play it using an xp virtal machine (its in effect a virtual copy of windows xp on your vista drive but without having to install xp outside of the virtual environment)

    I completed it collecting every single part 100% completed, think its the first time ive ever really completed a game lol, such a great game, i was dissapointed when the error came up i thought perhaps there was no way of fixing it lol. But glad i got round it and it was a really enjoyable game in the end.

    If you ever find your really stuck, just go away do something else, mow the lawn or make a cuppa tea, watch a bit of telly, and come back to it another time, youll have a fresh head with fresh ideas and new thoughts and angles of how to complee a particular part. Thats what i do and it really does help.

    I played with the bugfix applied and i was unable to progress at that point where you give anna the gear from pelican bay. It seems that the bugfix put a bunch of 1s to several entries in the save file and hence game behaves erratically. So I started a new game without the bugfix and it worked fine. I just finished the game now… and here is how i did it :

    1. Downloaded the demo.
    2. Copied the crack that came with TE’s first release (not the bugfix or the bugfix repack)
    3. Started a new game
    4. Used the 2 work-arounds (manually editing save file) that have been posted to fix the 2 crashes in Pelican Bay.
    5. Game ran flawlessly!

    for those who are stuck at the gear thingy, the above method is the only known option…(yea u gotta play all over from the beginning … but its a pretty short game)

    Hope this helps.

    The “scene” fails so badly if all of you are too cheap to buy this game. it is worth every single penny (no pun intended).

    Go buy it and download the perfectly working version. The PA guys deserve it.

    another hypocrite on the loose in rlslog. To all hypocrites preaching to buy the original, you need to shut up. Everybody knows that…scene groups include that in their nfo (”If you like it buy it”) so you don’t need to preach it. Stop being all high and mighty calling others cheap for downloading scene stuff when you have downloaded scene stuff yourselves (whether you buy the original or not it doesnt matter you’re just as guilty)

    Okay. I’am using new crack and everything seems ok, until I buy Gear from Pelican bay. Then I go to Ann-Claire, but there isnt dialog option to show the gear, and I cannot go to do quest which would give me a ticket to pelican bay. Any thoughts what can be done to fix this?

    Also, I wasn’t preaching to everyone to buy the original, I was simply pointing out a solution to all this file editing and trying to help out the little guy.
    I enjoyed the game and hopefully episode 2 will be made.

    This bugfix destroys the fortune telling machine the first time you are at pelican bay. To restore the fortune telling machine, change movie_fortuneTeller = “0″

    I have a problem of my own with this game, for some reason I can’t past by pelican bay’s gates without the ticket right! but in die case log Im supposed to give the large winding key and large gear to brahe’s niece, yet she doesn’t accept them, Is this a bug or am I missing something?? pls reply

    it’s probably because you using your savegame which was corrupted due to non-proper crack. then you should start a new game with a new crack i suppose.

    which crack are you using? if it is from TE, then it is a known issue of non-proper crack.

    I guess its the first one, I changed the parameters of windupkey and gear, so I could enter the bay, but the fortune booth is still broken, even after changing the movie to 0, what else can be done? pls
