Penny Arcade Adventures on the Rain – Slick Precipice of Darkness Episode 1 v1.0-TE
Here we are…another episode game. This one is made by Hothead Games & Penny Arcade and released by TE. This genre becomes trend in PC games. Sometimes they make 1 episode and then nothing…like the game never existed. But let’s hope that this would not happen to this one. There are lot’s of episode games and they are mostly very popular (e.g. like Sam & Max episodes that is made four younger crowd but this game is a little bit serous) mostly because of humor in them but in this one is action too! You can use a lot of weapons (like prong or paint ball gun,rocks,rockets) as the game develops. Create your own player (even with dorky glasses and chose his clothes,head shape…and many more).
Opening animation is good and starts with a VERY serious poem. If you want to know how it goes you have to install the game and see it by yourself. I’m telling you wont be disappointed. I give this game a score of 8/10. After all the game has little hardware requirement and has been made for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux & X Box (this version is for WINDOWS). My opinion is: They have done the job good. On us is just to play it and maybe buy it if you will like it like me.

How to fix the game crash in Pelican Bay:
1) Open folder C:\Documents and Settings\YourNameHere\Local Settings\Application Data\HotheadGames\RainSlickEp1
2) Open YourNameHere_AutoSave.sav with notepad.
3) 15th line entry Entered_Boardwalk = “0″; Change to Entered_Boardwalk = “1″;
Play the game and you can now enter pelican bay.
NOTE: Doing this will disable the disembodied voice’s introduction to the zone, but at least you can enter it now!

Doubt that very much… it’s not a No-CD crack since you can download the whole game and unlock it with a serial key.
Last I checked GCW only had No-CD cracks.

@23 We’re beyond teh days of simple no cd cracks, GCW/GBW has other types of cracks on it for certain games. I would imagine some type of unlocker would be released on the site.

I’ve purchased this game because of the quality of game that it is. We rarely see this type of entertainment value for 20 bucks. I encourage you guys to toss them a couple dollars for this game because the PA crew is awesome and I want to see more content!

Sam & Max isn’t really a kids game. In fact many of the jokes are things only an adult would understand (they go right over kids heads).
The graphics are a choice of style. Like for instance, Team Fortress 2 isn’t a kids game, but its cartoony graphics. Other games are cartoony graphics as well. Like hentai games are cartoony graphics, but its NOT for kids! Its japanese anime sex!

Notice how many of the episodes have scores of 80 or more? Thats pretty good for what you call a “kids game”
Some GTA (Grand Theft Auto) games have been rather cartoonish, are they in any way a kids game? No! They are mostly rated Mature (if not Adults Only).
How about the original Mortal Kombat games? Those definately aren’t for kids, yet some of the early ones have cartoonish graphics.
In other words, cartoonish graphics does NOT NOT NOT require that its a kids game. It can be, but it does not MUST be.

I was able to get into pelican bay.
1) Turn off the game.
2) Open up the folder vagonhawk said,
C:\Documents and Settings\your name here\Local Settings\Application Data\HotheadGames\RainSlickEp1
3) Rght click on the file named YourNameHere_AutoSave.sav and open it with notepad.
4) Look for the 15th line look for the entry Entered_Boardwalk = “0″; & Change the 0 into a 1, so that it looks like this Entered_Boardwalk = “1″;
5) Play the game and you can now enter pelican bay.
NOTE: Doing this will disable the disembodied voice’s introduction to the zone, but at least you can enter it now!

Thanks for the pastebin-uploadjockey-mirrors style download links. It’s a pain to manage all the tabs/windows, but it is definitely faster, since we don’t have wait whatever amount of time a single mirror provider (like rapidshare) would force on us in between files.
Editing the savefile works, but when you reach the end of the pelican bay/boardwalk, it crashes again with the same error.

It works, to a certain point. At the end of the boardwalk, after that dark gate, you will find another item, when you click it, a movie starts, and the game crashes once again (error 666).
To fix this, you once again have to edit your autosave, this time line 130:
movie_worshipingMimes = “0″;
and change it to
movie_worshipingMimes = “1″;
This should fix the second crash.

Sam and Max is not for “the younger audiences” play the game and listen to the damn jokes mate, it’s def for a half mature person which sadly our society is showing little of… Also on this game, it appears this needs to be nuked since it won’t work…

For the second crack crash at the end of Pelican Bay, you have to set movie_worshipingMimes = “0″; to movie_worshipingMimes = “1″; in the same save file.
You won’t see the movie then where the mimes are worshipping the Ctulhu idol, but you can at least keep playing.

Not quite. The game itself is out, this is just a very fast crack.
Ok I’m not sure what’s wrong but I don’t even have a Local Settings folder, and beyond that, I don’t even see where the saves are going. Something’s not showing up and I’m not sure how to get it to show up. Using SP3 but I doubt it just took away the folder for me to not see it.
I don t know about anyone else, but I can t even start a new game with the crack, I ll click start new game and then it locks up. Anyone else had this or know how to fix it?

As well as the aforementioned fix for the error getting into Pelican Bay, it happens again after a cut scene showing the mine god. Adopting the same strategy, and trial and error, the fix:
1) Open folder C:\Documents and Settings\YourNameHere\Local Settings\Application Data\HotheadGames\RainSlickEp1
2) Open YourNameHere_AutoSave.sav with notepad.

now, no point saying whos right and wrong; you didnt like the humour of sam&max, thats fine… but to call say its aimed at kids or boring is just insulting something you dont understand.

This game is pretty funny at times and definately has “adult” humour all the way through. The crack worked (to activate the full game) but the bugfix didn’t (for me anyway) No probs though, I just edited the save file to say I’d been to the boardwalk and the rest of the game worked fine. The downside is that it feels unfinished, It really only is “half” a game, thus, the $20 price-tag. I completed it in about 6 hours or less and it wasn’t tremendously difficult and had no difficulty settings. I’d still say it was worth a play through because it was quite original at times (although at others, was quite repetetive). So Thanks for the u/l and the tips about editing the save. After I had finished I went in and messed around with all manner of things in the save-file to make it a bit more fun. I would expect that the next game (PART 2) will use THE SAME savefile as there are many things in there which are not in PART 1 of the game, so have fun and thanks again

*Why* should anyone crack this game? All you have to do is to enter a serial number, and voilà, it will work just without *any* problems. And it’s easier, too. It’s just that no one seems to provide a serial number….

Just thought i’d say the only thing similar between Sam and Max and Penny arcade is that there episodic.

I think(or hope) there was bad english in the original blurb about the game when stating in was for a younger crowd so i shall ignore that but my point is this.
Theres NO point comparing them since there different Genres Sam and max isn’t boring its just not the type of game you think it is. for the last time Penny Arcade is an RPG more akin to final fantasy than sam and max.

Actually user2, they may ban new players from registering with that serial, but they cant stop existing users from using it because the game is completely offline except for initial registration.
Also, I queried the error 666 on the Greenhouse forums, and a Hothead person there said that they introduced it to appear if the game was identified as being modified or corrupted.
So essentially, it is suggesting the people who pirate the game are evil.
Any knows about the serial or a Mac crack?
