Group DvF released a nice dvdrip of sport drama Peaceful Warrior just minutes ago – and although this is a limited movie, it has a lot to offer and you should look through some details about it. Peaceful Warrior stars Nick Nolte and Amy Smart in main roles, both very good actors. But the script is thing which makes this movie interesting. This movie here in the US wasn’t a really success. and it was the first one to offer 2 million theatre passes for free. why? maybe not too good..

Drew is right! I have NOT seen this film and love topics of mentoring and spirituality, however, there is hard evidence that this film has homo-erotic elements and is made by a paedophile.

Rottentomatoes failed to inspire me MANY times.
They gather as well very mainstream critics.
Professional or not.
And no I won’t judge by the trailer or IMDB or Rottentomatoes.
Although they all help in there respect to get my attention when they want it.
I am sorry some people think other people can judge for themselves.
I will go for this film because of Nick Nolte and in my sense very interesting story as described by Martin.
Socrates, teaching young people… Well there are obvious links and reference to ancient greek history.
And there was plenty of homosexuality and touching student stuff.
So if you are shocked by Peaceful Warrior that I predict to be a very settled movie, go watch Pasolini and relativize.
The film’s director, Victor Salva was convicted in 1988 of having sexual relations with a 12 year-old boy. I guess some are able to separate the person from his art. Just like some people liked Hitler’s paintings despite knowing they were painted by Hitler. So go and enjoy Salva’s films and their unique signatures as pointed out by Ben.
F, your generalisation about cgi loving Americans not being able to think is no different to some people generalising against homosexuals. F, you are a hypocrite! You complain about people generalising about homosexuals yet in the same breath generalise against Americans!
LeFF, of course guys aren’t going to work out in a tuxedo, however, the choice to feature a naked upside-down faceless and therefore, de-humanised torso as the main marketing poster image is an interesting one given the history of the director.
Manutau, I agree with all your comments! Yes, the Socrates reference obviously places the story in the context of the well documented homosexuality of Ancient Greece. I am a fan of Nick Nolte, as well as spirituality and mentoring so will give this film a fair go and hope to be inspired by it.
Let’s just make up our own minds and agree to disagree. To all, I am interested in what you thought of Peaceful Warrior.

Great IMDB rating and although otherwise said here a movie with 500 or more votes and a decent rating means something. And it means a hell of a lot more then me then biased rottentomatoes reviews who can burn a movie just for its topic. Good example movie is The Life of David Gale which was a marvelous movie but gets brought down by critics because of the political content.
Who would you trust? 1 professional film reviewer who rates a movie 2/10 or 20000 normal people who have had a free choice of voting. For The Life of David Gale is resulted in a imdb score of: 7.2/10 (19,035 votes)
Make you own conclusion, if more then 1000 people rate Peaceful Warrior on an average of 7/10 I’m sure it must be a decent film

When I discovered imdb, I was thinking that it would be (concerning rating) totally american biased. But with time I revized my opinion. I do look everytime now to see what the mass think of everyfilm.
It isn’t like I agree with all there. Especially if you look at the top250, it is weird (IMO) to see Lord of the Rings 1,2 and 3 so highly ranked.
But even that, the top250 look totally decent.

Meh, i glimsed through the movie to see how it was. Not really impressive I must say. It is inspiring, but so many free passes…uuhh…they were even passing them out at work at worst buy.

My wife and I saw Peaceful Warrior when they distributed the free passes. It is a very thoughtful, compelling film. So much so that I do want to see it again. Good performances and script. It’s not an action film, so pass on it if that’s what you need to enjoy fine cinema.
