passmark performance test is good for comparing detailed benchmarks with other users systems. its an old fashioned “mines bigger” measuring contest.

Why would you use the user posted RS links anyhow? The author provide RS link, every time. And I have yet to find a virus in any of those.

can somebody tell me why does some cracks/keygens don’t work on vista but no problem on XP?

Downloaded Winamp Pro and cracked it no worries on XP but not on Vista

because vista wants to have its hand held through everything. Disable the account protection crap and most keygens and stuff will work even if you still get a nag asking if you are really bloody sure.. better yet, just use xp.
For benchmarking this app is ok, i’ll stick with 3dmark for my benching though.

    No help at all aussie.

How does user account control disable keygens?

    Answer – It doesn’t.

Vista wants to hold OUR hands through everything. If you have not realised already, 99% of users are complete novices. Vista makes their lives a lot easier.

User account control is very annoying.. for like the first twenty seconds after a fresh Vista install before you disable it.

It does not prevent keygens from running but rather alerts the user when ANY executable is trying to start, actually rather useful on a system over run with crap trying to start up.

You stick with 3dmark, it will do you proud when trying to benchmark your graphics card. For any other purpose, it’s next to useless.

    Two words:
    Safe Mode

This is the easiest way to get keygens to work in vista.

Question – When did i say it disabled anything?
    Answer – I didn’t.

My point being, as you said most people are novices, they see a nag screen and think theres a problem and are often scared away from acting any further at all.

I’ll also add that given most users are novices, frames per second make alot more sense when buying hardware etc. than prime numbers.

    Enjoy vista Phillipe.

I’ve used plenty of cracks on Vista without a hitch. I also disabled UAC the first day I switched to Vista. Anyway, I’m having a problem with this program as well. I get a memory violation and the program just wont start. I used a cracked version of Everest, PCMark, and 3Dmark, so not sure what the problem is.

    @ aussie

“Disable the account protection crap and most keygens and stuff will work”

To me that suggests UAC prevents keygens from working. Don’t get me wrong, I am no great Vista fan and I have had my fair share of problems with it, none related to UAC though.
