Correction: Wii is the cheapest game system right now. It is not the best. It is great fun for a while but its games are mostly simple and childish. When the excitement of the cool controllers wears off real gamers seek challenging and complex gameplay and the Wii DOES NOT provide that.

Plastic discs are too 70’s, also one can cut oneself on them, they always go missing, they get scratches, sticky coke on them etc etc, HELLO HEARD OF “DIGITAL” ?, we also have lines in which digital information can travel these days, it’ called “tah intarwebbz” ! ?.

I’ll settle this once and for all.

PS3: Good Blu-ray player and has some good games *coming soon*
360: Good games system and has most of the good games at the moment + Media Center system.
Wii: Best games system EVER, explains why it is out selling the other two by almost triple.

Back on topic: Blu-ray has more storage and HD-DVD has more support in the PC world…. well they’d like you to believe it does.

I’m going to wait until Blu-ray Burners are nice and cheap then buy one. So looks like I will be waiting about 3 – 4 years.

The companies of the HD DVD Promotional Group today issued a statement in response to the decision by Warner Home Video to exclusively back the Blu-ray format:

“While Warner’s decision is a setback for HD DVD, the consumer has benefited from HD DVD’s commitment to quality and affordability — a bar that is critical for the mainstream success of any format. We believe widespread adoption of a next generation format will ultimately be determined by the consumer.”

Now that Warner Bros. has decided to go 100% Blu-ray with all of their titles (which include releases from New Line Cinema, HBO and tons of other independent studios), Blu-ray has garnered more than 70% of of the studio support, leaving the HD DVD camp in the dust. In addition, last month saw the Blu-ray Association start to support the release of adult movies in the hi-def format, a factor that HD DVD was counting on to become victorious in the format war. Obviously now, HD DVD is officially starting to lose the battle.

Also the GPU on the PS3 is technically better than the 360.

The 360 has the ATI Xenos. This is the same as ATI R500 which is like a lower spec Radeon X1800 (which was an R520).

The PS3 has the Nvidia-SCEI RSX which is a G71, equivalent to a GeForce 7900GT/GTX as it has 24 parallax pixel pipelines. The lower spec 7900GS only has 20 parallax pixel pipelines so we can rule that model out.

The X1800 was flawed and didn’t perform very well. It was also very late on the scene and was quickly replaced by the X1900 which was a much better card and fixed many of the problems of the X1800. The 7900GT/GTX’s on the other hand were damn good graphics cards.

Also the Xbox 360 does not have more graphics memory. It has 10 mb while the PS3 has 256 mb of dedicated graphics memory. This next part I’m unsure of but for the 360 to play games with only 10 mb of video ram I’m assuming that it shares the other 512 mb of general RAM. Since the ps3 dedicates 256 mb to video and 256 to everything else there is essentially a 10 mb difference in total available memory.
