I’ve tried VMWare and Virutalbox (free open source):

VMWare Workstation (NOT the VMWare Player) works great under XP. External USB drives work very well.

Virtualbox works just fair under XP. USB support is unstable.

I Dualboot xp pro and mandriva one (only distro ive found that works with crappy broadcom wireless card).Virtualbox is my choice on both.Usefull for testing keygens and new software.

MS Virtual Server or Virtual PC are free and don’t use as much resources as VMware when running on a Windows host.

VMWare is the standard for cross-os virtualization (as opposed to the virtualization built in the linux kernel, but that is for linux->linux). Don’t even waste your time with ANYTHING else, seriously.
