Osmos-Unleashed

Unleashed released this nice game “Osmos”. The game recieved a lot of great reviews from gamers, and it’s fun to play it. You’re playing as some kind of small bacterium and making a progress through the game by assimilating/eating other lifeforms. Somehow it reminds me on first stage of SPORE game. Try it. Total time-waster! Gameplay trailer can be seen here.

Description: Enter the ambient world of Osmos: elegant, physics-based gameplay, dreamlike visuals, and a minimalist, electronic soundtrack.
Your objective is to grow by absorbing other motes. Propel yourself by ejecting matter behind you. But be wise: ejecting matter also shrinks you. Relax – good things come to those who wait.

Key features:

  • Independent Games Festival finalist in three categories: Seumas McNally Grand Prize, Excellence in Design and Technical Excellence
  • Progress from serenely ambient levels into varied and more challenging worlds. (47 levels, plus bonus content)
  • Confront attractors, repulsors and intelligent motes with similar abilities and goals as you
  • Selected as one of the 2009 PAX 10
  • Procedural content: play random versions of any level
  • Sublime electronic soundtrack by Loscil, Gas/High Skies, Julien Neto, Biosphere, and more
  • Dynamic time-warping: slow down the flow of time to outmaneuver agile opponents; speed it up to raise the challenge

For people on 7 that have crashing issues on loading: This is a known bug with the game, a fix is to disable all playback devices besides the one you are using. Right click on the volume control in the tray, select playback devices, disable unneeded ones.

Post number 2 has an incorrect upload. The game seems to search in the wrong places for some reason. Downloading other peoples links worked though. Looks like this person tampered with it.

Ugh, an indie dev with no imagination whatsoever. This a blatant ripoff of Flow (PSP game).

Don't bother even thinking of purchasing this piece of garbage, instead, download and never play it.

PLEASE buy the game. The developers needs your money.

Don't be a lamer. If you programmed this game, you would want to get paid too.

So support the independent developers scene!

    @35
If I were the programmer of this game I would understand piracy exist in this world, and I would understand the consequence of being a programmer.
Nevertheless, independent programmers are getting paid pretty good. Its just that you guys are not driving around in expensive vehicles as opposed to the foolish musicians.
I would rather be a programmer than a musician during this era.

@35, If I were the dev of this game, I'd shoot myself. You don't ripoff other companies' games.

@37: You just made a complete fool of yourself. Do you even know what "osmosis" is? Read about it and you'll realize that if this game "copied" anything, it's reality and nature. Dumb ass.

Personally, I love this game and the soundtrack selections are incredible too. Worth the $9.99 on Steam right now.

As for FlOw, that game looks WAY too much like the first part of Spore and moreso than Osmos looks like either of the two. Ultimately, all 3 games seem to use real scientific facts about the natural world to create fun, relaxing gameplay. So, you can decide to support developers if you enjoy their games OR never pay a dime for games, it doesn't matter. What you shouldn't do is try to create negative publicity in rlslog comments as if somebody is going to take advice from the almighty random-name anonymous poster.

"relaxing" eh? um…no, if i wanted to relax id do something much more relaxing than sitting in a chair in front of a pc playing a game.

as for the game itself, it looked interesting but overall i didnt like it. so i deleted it. thanks to rslog for saving me 10 bucks or whatever.

funny how you guys complain on a pirate site :( , and you guys are prety much downloading music/videos/games . I'm probably like them, I'll download it and never play it, bad habit ^_^ .

    September 1st, 2009 | 08:30

it does crash after training. but I just loaded it back up again and went to the next level it unlocked. all good now. doesn't crash.

this game is pretty good. once you unlock the harder levels with the anti matter and gravity it gets quite challenging. a nice game that I will purchase to support the developers.

I'm a developer. We get a wage, not a commission. Unlike musicians, who get a (pathetic) percentage of sales. The producers who pay our wages get the commission, not us. Downloading doesn't hurt developers, only the developers' boss.

  32. Jesus
    September 1st, 2009 | 12:57

If we download this then we are actually helping the developers! They will sleep better at night knowing their evil boss is getting less money.

However many indie games are made by a small team, who all do get a commission, in which case its worth supporting the devs. Also shop at your independent grocer instead of supermarket chains. And also, grow your own pot, its a better smoke.

I cant believe Michael Jackson is a kiddie fiddler!!1!ONE!

After disabling the playback devices…can play the game. The only problem is afterwards, there is no devices shown….for that right click and select "show disabled devices" should see the playback device. :)
