Orbitron – B-Boy Universal (2007)
A new (at least to me) hip-hop artist performing under name Obritron just released his first album B-Boy Universal. His debut compilation offers some interesting singles for lovers of the genre, but he will probably have to work hard to become a little more known…
For his first solo LP, Orb chose to work with upstart Seattle music producer Alonzo a.k.a. “Big Zo” and veteran 206 Dj Tecumseh forming the foundation for BeaconSkillz. With Zo’s Beacon Hill home as the inspirational base for production, recording and mixing, the BeaconSkillz team set out to create a record that was an authentic reflection of Orb’s passion for hip-hop culture. Orbitron’s debut LP entitled B-Boy Universal is an example of an authentic voice in Seattle’s growing hip-hop movement. His music is a true reflection of the creativity, hard work and warm smile that Orb brings with him to every hip-hop event throughout the world. Orbitron is the real deal, no artificial additives or preservatives necessary.
Orb began his life journey amidst the chaos provided by the legendary streets of South Central Los Angeles. During his youth, which came in the wake of both the collapse of the Black Panther Party and the rapid rise of the drug- gang culture of Crips, Bloods, and the LAPD , Orb’s family made a difficult move to Las Vegas hoping to begin a more stable life for he and his siblings (more).

The last thing the world needs, is more hip-hop.
Say Nigga Whaaaat?
The last thing the world needs are stupid comments like Jamfas.
Jamfa. You are a failure at life.
I don’t understand morons taking the time to go tell the world they hate something only to eat flames later.
Good, job! Go fail more!
Anyways, I just downloaded this. It’s definitely a good listen!
Any torrent-links btw?
Jamfa.. totally agree.
Hip hop is for n00bs, wiggers and gangsta wannabes,
Stupid music.
Jamfa & Wibble,
Hip-hop is for n00bs? So what do all the veteran’s listen to then AC-DC? Or maybe Meatloaf?
And what does the world need more of then? More country & western, more punk? I mean what the hell are you both talking about?
This def looks nice so I will download it later, then I will ride with my homies and do a few drive by’s.
Sterotypical idiots
YEAH HOMIES, WEST SIDE!!!!!!!!!! lol
“then I will ride with my homies and do a few drive by’s.”
You, Fandango, illustrate my point quite adequately… if you even SAW a gun, you’d sh*t your pants, little boy.
For those about to rock, we salute you. (.. and everyone else can f*ck off)
ok, how about we stop spamming the comments with arguments of opinion and post some download links..
I love rlslog for films and games, it covers mainstream and indie which is fantastic!
But for music, it barely scrapes the surface of rls.
Personally, I think rlslog should give up trying to post music, there are so many a day it would require it’s own site.
My first post could apply to any of the music posted on here, not just hip-hop, its just this album was hip-hop.
Oh great, more hip hop! As if the last 17 years wasn’t enough!
Arguably the 80’s were the peak of musical talent. Why?
Name a more diverse musical time period where:
Michael Jackson, Madonna, Devo, Duran Duran, MC Hammer, Tone Loc, Beastie Boys, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Metallica (1983 was Kill em All) all had #1 hits AT THE SAME TIME!
Talk about open minded music.
Why has music fallen?
M
T
V
MTV Dictates what we listen to now rather than the talent on the radio because you can make it on videos and looks alone these days. Gone are the days where someone heavy like Roberta Flack could make a song and get away on sheer talent and vocal presence.
Today, even Paris Hilton makes and sells music.
This generation is the worst generation of music in the history of mankind.
-C-R-A-P-
And why does Hip Hop suck?
There is no talent in the singing, actually its talking, not singing these days. Some of the lyrics are clever i will give it that, but they are fake.
What do i mean?
Gold teeth? Women are ho’s? carrying guns while making millions of dollars yet that is keeping it real? Moving to white neighborhoods but still trying to say you’re from Compton? Down playing education and promoting lying, steeling, infidelity?
Basically this is a black problem, nothing else.
Dont worry be happy…

Yall ignorant .. just cause I dont listen to anything else than hip-hop (barely) I dont automatically hate rock, techno etc .. I just dont listen to those genres that much.. Do you follow?
But I must agree…. RLS should just forget the music releases cause you guys suck at keepin up with the music ..
The main reason that rlslog is so popular it’s because people can say whatever they like.
except “First” lol
Argument like posts 1 to 8 are hilarious.
If the comments was only post related, and everyone agree with everyone, it would be very boring here.
So piss off @wobble and let the flame rise.
i tried not to post but i cannot stop …
i listen mostly to hip hop and not all in rap resumes to what people said until now … you are just talking about the commercial side of hip hop which i also think is rubbish. there are also other subcategories of the hip hop genre which you might not know of. some talk about political issues or just problems in the world and they try to show you how f-ed the world really is.
to all the rock addicts over here… i will say that you are wrong… really wrong because even rock has a lot of artists that suck, that don’t actually produce rock but more of a hard core pop song.
for people who hate hip hop (which at first was created for uniting people in ghettos and helping them make a life for themselves, which now evolved into something that actually tries to show you the ghetto and shooting like a cool stuff to do…) you should actually hate those artists not the hip hop genre
i could go on even more but ill try to stop here.
hip hop hahahahahaha
Well to be fair guys Hip-Hop is really about expression through poetry originally so its a valid for of music. Listen the “Illadelphia halflife” by the Roots or “Lets get free” by Dead Prez for some great Hip Hop. I love music in general but Hip Hop especially because early 80’s and 90’s Hip Hop told a story.
Gonna try this out maybe it will have a few good beats.
p.s. In the UK you can’t get enough punk or indie bands its by far the dominant tast over here which is a shame but taste taste.
oh yeah and sorry for the double post…
@ rlslog staff
please dont stop posting music because some of us love it, there are a few albums you posted which i really loved.
thanks, peace !
Final Result = Crap
Next!
206 stand up!
Sounds nice to me. KEYWORDS “TO ME”!
To each his own.
Why waste your time arguing people?
None of you are experts at anything anyway.
Oh yeah. Thanx RLSLOG!
206??? Not at all
Again, pro hip hop clowns avoiding my statements.
HIP HOP is all that we hear and see on TV and on the radio today. Its over saturated and unfair to other forms of music, popular or otherwise.
That isn’t a slight against hip hop, but this is. Why is hip hop so popular?
because it is one of the most primitive forms of simple music, so simple that even a 10 year can do it, though not great, but by 15 a kid could be as good as anyone else. Even if you are from a white bread zone, you can still fake it with clever lyrics.
THAT, my friends, is why hip hop sucks and is so popular. The minorities gravitate towards it because it is lazy and simple, just like them.
i have seen so much on the comments about bashing this type of music or that genre of movies. i’m a scratch dj and have been for about 12 years. this is my opinion, it’s not factm nor should it be viewed as such. hip hop is more of a lifestyle, like krs-one said “rap is something you do, hip hop is something you live” i’m not defending anyone who is a proponent of the genre we call hip hop, but i don’t view 99% of rap/r&b/soul as hip hop. there are groups or individuals such as jurassic 5, busdriver, percee p, kool keith, 2-mex, and many others that glorify the lifestyle of hip hop, positive feelings and humans. gun toting, drug slinging criminals do not, and have never been accepted by the originators nor the progeny of hip hop. i have not yet listened to this album nor am i familiar with the artist, but i will be soon enough. rap as most people who do understand, will tell you, is poetry set to a beat, not music, but a beat. as with all art forms not all of it has inherent worth, some is garbage, and some is truly heartfelt and beautiful. take a minute and listen to chali 2na’s verse in the song “work it out” and then tell me he doesn’t care about the world in which he lives. i know this is wordy, but i sit silent for so long and then when there is some catalyst moment i feel the need to “get it all out at once” so sorry for my soap box.
“the 80’s were the peak of musical talent. ”
LOLOLOLOL
I love this site for stupid ass statements like this. lol.
I commend this man for naming himself after a robot rather than a gun.
@ adam
Then which time period was the peak of musical diversity and talent other than the 80’s?
None.
Just because you are too young and dumb to admit that the musical diversity was at its peak in the 80’s, regardless of your little selfish ass not liking that time period, only proves that you are too narrow minded to admit to the facts.
What was more diverse? Today? with its Nu-Metal and Hip hop which by the way Metal and Rap were in the 80’s?
Douche.
I really wish people would stop confusing hip-hop for commercial rap. This album is quite good, with positivity at it’s core. It’s not about violence or any of the current “pop rap” trends of exploiting women, money or fame. Think of PM Dawn, The Beastie Boys, Rjd2, and so many more who are considered “hip hop” and just have all around good music.
All I’m saying is don’t trash something just because it is labeled as being in a genre you don’t particularly like. Broaden your horizons and you might find some great music that you really enjoy, or you might not but either way you aren’t closing yourself off to new possibilities.
Nice release!
Lol @ Venomhed
“Just because you are too young and dumb to admit that the musical diversity was at its peak in the 80’s, regardless of your little selfish ass not liking that time period, only proves that you are too narrow minded to admit to the facts.”
Narrow minded… its called an opinion, you are the narrow minded one by making a statement like that and believing your opinion is a fact and the right one. Further more by your statements you just sound like a sad old man, get a life please and keep your opinions to yourself because you obviously know nothing about the Hip-Hop genre.
“one of the most primitive forms of simple music” ???
Seriously, what are you on? Please tell me what is so much more advanced about the music you listen to?!
Classical.
Need I say more prick? Lets see some jigaboo write that type of music?
Hip-Hop genre, please….
All i can do it ‘lol’ at you to be honest.
This has nothing to do with the music it seems, waiting for any post to come up with a black person in the picture and making up excuses why the posts artist/actor (etc) is bad.
Your just another racist out there hiding behind there computer because in the real world your “narrow minded” opinions will get you hurt.
Dont have anything eles to say to you and your sought.
(To readers, look up ‘jigaboo’, im not stating his racist for no reason!)
And no i dont listen to Rap or Hip Hop, i just cant stand people like you, who like to put down overs for there opinions, beliefs and general preferences.
I AGREE
The last thing the world needs, is more hip-hop.
Orbitron is already a world famous dancer having traveled the world to compete and judge b-boy competitions. Google Circle of Fire or SoulShifters!! His music, having listened to the album, reflects a deep sense of humanity and love for hip-hop culture. I’m keepin’ this release in heavy rotation. Clearly some of you need this inspiration in your life!!

Che(37) you beat me to it, I have met and danced with Orb in Germany & the UK while he was repping for the U.S & have known about this album for some time, just didnt know when it would be released.
Orb’s music is nothing to do with thugged out & a pimped out image, He is a Bboy & a House dancer & one of the most humble persons i have met. Do some research people on Circle Of Fire they from seattle. I’m gonna grab it only because i know it will never be released out where I’m from.
peace
Run DMC call themselves the kings of rock – just thought i would throw that one out there hahaha
I like Hip-Hop because it promotes good values–like equal rights to women, carrying a gun, love & peace, & just plane good Christian values. I mean what could be more wholesome than popping a cap in some ho!
Jamfa embrace Jesus and shoot your self. Love rls for all the info not only movies noob
Crazy Horse? I hoped for more from you considering the namesake! Take my advice, before you disrespect someones art, give it a listen first! Let it be the excuse to pull your head out your own ass for a change!
for those who don’t like hiphop!
why did you take trouble over coming in and posting replies like that? if i don’t like something, i don’t care about it!
it is this simple.
tough music!
Still my favorite record purchased this year! Love the eco-friendly packaging and fantastic presentation. Orbitron is an amazing emcee. What a great indie release!!
This is Megatron. I’m on my way to Cybertron to battle Optimus Prime and Orbitron. My lyrics are lethal. I got Soundwave to throw some beats down. Whoever wins gets all the Energon Cubes.
hip hop is a lifestyle for some, but for you to dis that is just ignorant. I understand for people that are as simple minded as you to call hip hop music stupid. And for people like you its just rambling words. But for the good fans of hip hop what it is, is simply Philosophy written in rhyme. For your simplistic mind i guess it would be a little to hard for you to comprehend such an art form.
Wow. Im not much of a poster usually, but wow. Venomhead. Have you stepped outside of your compound anytime in the last decade? Jigaboo? Lazy and dumb minorities? I would like to see you walk down any street in the country and start making these comments, to people of any race. The results would be a lot of fun for the rest of us. And the 80’s? Are you kidding me? the same decade that gave us Europe’s Final Countdown? Perhaps you’ve heard of the 60’s and 70’s? How about the 20’s, 30’s 40’s, 50’s? I agree that music by and large has seen a decline in the past 10 – 15 years, but independent and non-mainstream hip hop is one venue where there is still some originality and intelligence. But, intelligence is obviously not your particular area of interest. My advice; get outside of your compound, meet some human beings (the kind with out mullets and white hoods) and buy a dictionary so you can learn how to spell.
Hip hop emerged from a pure restless need of creativity, it was an outlet for the people, it was and is a tool to unify youth. LISTEN, really listen to the voice, the reason, and the truth artists like orb present… don’t dismiss the lyrics and get lost in the beat, DO NOT approach something new and different to you with what the media has fed you (Hip hop is all about drugs, ho’s, guns… blah blah blah). Of course, there is a lot of crap out there, but that DOES NOT mean that there isn’t amazing artists as well… All music shares the same ideals, same emotions… hip hops is simply yet another derivation of the same ideas… don’t bash it because in your life experience you have not encountered a situation where you could connect to this arrangement in particular. If you don’t like it, fair enough, but RESPECT IT. If you don’t like it, its just that you can’t relate and you can’t recognize it. Not your fault…
last statement: Hip hop is BEAUTIFUL, it is art.
