OO Defrag Professional Edition v10.0.1634 Incl Keymaker-ZWT

Here’s a really nice new app release from grop ZWT. O&O Defrag is one of my favourite tools for keeping my hard drives fit and ready. There’s no need to write what is this application for, but one thing is clear: OO Defrag does its job way better than standard defragmentation included in Windows. And it is also much faster and more effective, so if you haven’t tried this tool yet, give it a short trial. I’m also quite sure there are some users who don’t even know they drives should be defragmented from time to time. :)

I used this one before I got PerfectDisk which is “Certified by Microsoft”. This one isn’t. :)

Why is there a screenshot of an 3 year old version of this program?

    Very great program though.

  3. May 17th, 2007 | 10:55

    im using it right now

  4. May 17th, 2007 | 10:55

Good app, I used it for a while, but I find no performance increase over using the standard defragger included in windows.
I do like being able to set it to run in screensaver mode though, wish windows defrag had that option.

O&O is synonymous with Fuck&Shit. Do yourself a favour and get PerfectDisk. I’ve never heard of anyone’s primary partition getting fucked over with PD (or the MFT), but it’s a common occurance with nearly every version of O&O.

Has anyone noticed, that microsoft has the only operating system that requires defragmatization, due to their in-adequate file system ? Has anyone ever pondered that in linux you don’t NEED TO defrag its ext3 file system ?

Been using version 8.x and all is well.

Any program can display conlicts with someone’s computer. The occurrences are usually rare and depend on a specific user’s hardware and software setup. Just because you had a bad experience does not mean others will.

Happy to hear your input but keep it within context.

Pick the defrag app that seems to fit better with your paradigm. One might do something a little different that tickles your weiner more. PerfectDisk or OO Defrag. Both work great.

I’ve thought for the last few years that there’s no need to defragment your modern hard drives with NTFS partitions, just like with ext3 partitions.

“On a desktop system from the PC World office with a heavily used, never-defragmented hard drive, the lab conducted speed tests using a range of applications before and after defragmenting the drive with each utility. In the end, the Test Center saw no significant performance improvement after defragmenting with any program.”

yeah sure for our os partition, maybe defraging won’t do much. but for a leecher like me, d/ling ~10gb daily can get messy overtime on three 750gb hdd..

i always use the defragment by space method…only when i used other methods do i get errors…idk why…as for performance…maybe/maybe not…i tend to agree with tuckers post…it could be my imagination but i doubt it. also any drive manufacturer will tell you regular defrags keep your drive healthy as it cuts down seek/spin/read on the physical disc.

FYI - M$ uses the Diskeeper engine for Windows (not sure about Vista) except it is a cut-down version (surprise surprise).

Diskeeper replaces windows defrag, and always worked wonders for me.

I just use JkDefrag. It’s open source, lightweight and is perfectly capable of defragging a HD.

    May 18th, 2007 | 06:50

Poor defragged hardrives, it stresses them out you know. Ya dont need to defrag NTFS ones, well maybe twice a year or so if you keep the same large heavily accessed files on your HD. I had no net connection and the tech go goes, ‘ have you dfragged you HD recently’ aaaaargh

Drives me as crazy those ppl that reform their system drives to speed up their computer then are surprised it slows down again when the reinstall everything.

oh and im sure o&o corrupted a disk image i was copying while it worked in the background, so I reckon it sucks

Why has there never been a Diskeeper release for this year? Or am I missing it.
