One Missed Call 720p Bluray x264-Chakra
DiAMOND released this crap in DVDRip quality earlier, and group Chakra already came up with the 720p version. To all but the most juvenile viewer, this should be a no-no. The movie is apparently so dreadful that it couldn’t get a single fresh review on RT. I would also like to say that this is probably the most ridiculous poster I’ve ever seen. It kind of looks like they let a kid in a Photoshop 101 class compose this monumentally imbecilic image and thought it was a work of art. I hope you’re happy Ed, you broke my heart.
Synopsis: In the tradition of THE RING, THE GRUDGE, DARK WATER, and PULSE, ONE MISSED CALL is yet another moody Japanese ghost story to be adapted for American screens. Originally made by cult director Takashi Miike in 2003 from Yasushi Akimoto’s novel CHAKUSHIN ARI, this American version retains the elements that are sure to please J-Horror fans–jerky apparitions, ghostly children, desperate messages from beyond the grave, possessed electronic devices, and strong female characters. While this remake, which is the debut English-language film from French director Eric Valette, dispenses with some of the freakiness of Miike’s version, the creepiness remains. Shannon Sossamon is Beth, a developmental psychology student who has plenty of cause for concern after her friend Leann (Azura Skye) receives a panicked cell phone message from herself days in the future.

Bleez: Please dont offer an in-depth opinion of a film you haven’t seen. It belittles you and your reader. Ive seen this film and its certainly better than The Eye with Jessica Alba. The low rating is common for these films initially as American audiences generally dont ‘get’ Jap horror in the same way Europeans do. The ratings will rise as the film is released on the European side of the Atlantic.

Why is it that on rlslog that the posters have to give their opinion? I’m not talking this release especially but why do they feel the need to tell us what they think of a movie? we’ll just click a link to rottentomatoes if we want to find out.
This has actually now spooled over into the sypnosis of the movie which seems so unprofessional.
Why not just post the movie release, the original sypnosis and use comment #1 for your opinion?
With respect to the people who post the release news, I value actual ‘film critics’ over some guy that likes downloading movies and writing his opinion in 5 lines before he has to go to class.

Tom does actually have a point Bleez. I don’t think he’s against staff members posting their opinion but it would be better to have it slightly seperated out. For example the description about a movie or other item should be just a straight description without any personal opinion or bias. That’s what a synopsis is.
Then maybe after that post your own thoughts. This isn’t an unreasonable request
I actually thought the poster was pretty creepy and effective. Certainly stuck in my memory. Yeah it’s an easy photoshop job but what does that prove?

My point was that you hadnt seen the film - so IMHO - you shouldnt be posting critical comments. All RSlog posts feature an IMDB link which we can check for such comments. If you HAVE seen the film then a simple ‘I didnt enjoy this’ would suffice. We do appreciate the relevent input. But you dont have to be insulting while doing it. We’re not all ‘juvenile’.

I also don’t like some of the staff’s (read, most of Mr.X’s) posts, but in this case any harsh criticism is really uncalled for. 2.6 on IMDB and no positive reviews on Rottentomatoes is nearly a dictionary definition of a piece of sh-t movie. Therefore it’s not a wildly speculative opinion but rather a simple statement of the fact: the movie is bad by any but the most deviant quality judging standards. If you feel like bashing the staff, please bash those whose opinions actually deserve criticism by being unfair and/or misinformed. I’m closing this Firefox tab…now.

As for One Missed Call, my friend downloaded it earlier on and we watched it. What a waste of 80 or so minutes. It was dreadful. I triedto get him to watch “Into The Wild” and he’d rather watch crap like this…*sigh*
