On the iPhone by GeoHot
iPhone users already know who is GeoHot (George Hotz) and that new unlock called ”Blacksn0w” for new baseband 05.11.07 will be released on 04.11.2009. GeoHot has posted a video demonstrating the first iPhone unlock being performed with BlackSn0w. You can check it out here. Jailbroken iPhone is better in so many ways. You can install cracked apps and apps that have not been approved by Apple, change themes, background and other awesome things. Just Google it. I can’t wait to jailbreak and unlock my new iPhone 3Gs. Somewhat agree with @6. We cannot say it’s completely failure, it has some great features. I own first generation iphone and what annoys me is volume of ring. Even on max. I cannot hear it in noise environment. For example on the street, factory, etc. Many other cell phones don’t have that problem. So, if it’s designed only for office use then it should be labeled like that. From the good side I would say I like easy email access, few cool applications/games that can be really handy. So, the reason I didn’t upgrade to 3G is lack of higher volume and higher phone service price. Another thing which annoys me is iTunes. I really don’t care for that software but it’s central thing around the iphone. Jailbreak/unlock is another thing which makes me sad. If there is no way to jailbreak iphone, att&t and apple will have much less revenue on this phone. Apple face it, iphone sale will be slashed in half if guys don’t like to hack it because it is OSX and in many way small computer. Well, iphone is and will stay controversial cell phone in many ways. In meantime, I will use it, I will miss many phone call because I cannot hear when it’s ringing (I have very good hearing – I have to pass hearing test every year because of profession I’m working in, if someone thought that I’m deaf) and I will play few games I have on my jailbroken phone (regardless that I have hundreds of downloaded apps very few are worth of effort to have it on the cell phone – come on, farting app was on the apple store rated as the best app of the month!!!????) What’s wrong with the people?

So? And your point is what? Other phones have sold more then your iphone and have been a complete bomb. Just selling a lot does not make it a success, IT HAS TO WORK PROPERLY!!! Iphones have had major problems, are constantly being upgraded to defeat being locked into one terrible carrier and so forth. If the users of this phone refused to buy the new ones or gathered together and demanded that these problems be fixed or they would not buy any more, Apple would break their backs in correcting the problems so fast that all of this would be a bad dream. Oh and need I remind you that in the States and Canada, you CANNOT have a monopoly and as such Apple was forced to make their phones usable for different carriers, they just locked them into that carrier and this crack unlocks them, thus pi$$ing Apple off big time!
So because is a lock phone does not work properly?

I tried to use Blackra1n on three different 3G iPhones and couldn’t get it to work on any of them. Tried on Windows 7 and Windows XP. Just wouldn’t work. And I am not new to this and have been Jailbreaking since the first iPhone. This guy should have concentrated on making Blackra1n compatible and trouble free for all versions of the iPhone and concentrated less on putting his picture on my phone.

The truth is the iphone is still the “top rated” phone on the market. None and I repeated none, have the application variety given by apple and the freemarket software developers….( low and behold i forgot to mention i only have the ipod )

Do I have one? No, not now but yes I did have the first one they put out and that soured me on all the rest of the crap they try to sell. I “jailbreaked” my first one but every stinking time I went to update my towers Apple updated the software and I had to “break” it all over again. Quite a few services refuse to take an unlocked phone with the excuse of “it will not work with our services” as they are afraid of being sued by Apple and AT&T. And as for them being such great phones?…What are you smokin? http://www.theiphoneblog.com/2009/09/16/iphone-31-bugs-random-freeze-shut/ random freezing-random shutdowns-forced reboots-forced reinstalls and renews-enters coma mode on a regular basis and you call this a GOOD phone? PUH-LEAZE!!! There are almost 700 examples of screw ups by this phone on this site alone and if you do a search on Google for iPhone problems you end up with over 126 MILLION hits!!!! No one with any sense can state that with this many pages of complaints that this is a “Good Phone”.

I’ve tried this atleast 20 times on my 2nd gen ipod touch firmware 3.1.2 and all i get is a black screen

Jailbroken phone is not just for cracked apps . There is so much more. You can buy and install apps that have not been allowed by Apple. Anyway after you buy iPhone you don’t have to much money to spare
I was a Microsoft man for over a decade – worked for them, certified by them etc. Still loyal in many ways – but after using a Windows Mobile 6 touchscreen phone for just a week I was fit to kill someone. It crashed, it hung, it never connected to a WiFi network when I wanted (and needed) it to and I had to tweak it in so many ways to get it to do basic stuff I almost threw it out the window one day. I put off the iPhone for over a year and finally swallowed my pride and got an 8gig 3G one.
Brought it home and ten minutes later was in love. It did everything I needed and wanted it to do – effortlessly.
It’s jailbroken and set free from the provider and I’ve got all kinds of great apps installed on it – I’d be lost without it.

I’m using Windows 7 and I had the same problem at first until I ran it as administrator and I now have a 3g unlocked/jailbroken phone. Give that a try if your still locked.
