Olympic Games Opening Ceremony Beijing 2008 HDTV XViD-PiX

Finally the opening ceremony got released. I already watched it yesterday, and I still don’t know why it wasn’t released earlier. Anyways, this is the HDTV release. The quality is the same like a 350mb TV show. I hope the 720p version will come soon, because there were a lot of spectacular things in Beijing! I suggest you decide for yourself by watching the sample.

*EDIT: NUKED: 2.1gb.avi.files.not.allowed.must.be.split.into.700mb.cds.with.15mb.or.20mb.rars . Quality is just fine, but it should have been splitted into different CD’s. Well….

    Definetely the most creative, thoughtful, artistic opening ceremonies i’ve ever seen.

    This is what makes me proud of being Chinese,
    GO CHINA GO CHINA!

    And for all those ppl hating the olympics, the olympics is an athletic and sporting event/competition
    what does that have to do with politics..?

    @99: I have no idea why you would say that we’d never see the Olympics in China again… They’re a rising star, which no one can deny, and why would that prevent them from being a host country again? If anything, this is going to be the start of more hostings.

    I was expected more from China.
    At some moments they remind me the Athens 2004… (flying people, fireworks, etc)… but it was a very nice opening ceremony of a great event. THE OLYMPIC’S. So… it’s ok.
    Every country has a different culture and we must respect it.
    I liked more the happenings of Athens 2004 (dj Tiesto, etc.)

    OLYMPIC GAMES IS ABOUT SPORTS, FRIENSHIP, PEACE (At least at the ancient years…).. so all the others GET A LIFE.

    The opening ceremonies were fantastic. Perhaps it’s boring because you don’t have any interest in Chinese culture; but this opening ceremonies is a far cry for other ones I’ve seen.

    Definitely one of the best opening ceremonies ever! It will be remembered for a long time to come

    Any 720p torrents on open trackers yet(Orenji version)?. All I can find are from scenetorrents.org and I dont have an account there. Hope someone posts this on TPB or other trackers soon.

    BTW this is stupid now, who dont own a dvd drive? who still have a cd drive? 1 dvd is >x7 times cheaper that 7 CDs (6.44)
    dvd if faster to write and to play (you dont have to switch cds)

    so why the scene still got this stupid rule?

    Can someone give me a link of where i can find a good quality of this with chinese commentors?
    i only found english, swedish, korean, a bad quality chinese version, and a 43gb chinese version.
    I want to be able to have a smaller one with better quality

    I am curretly encoding the Beijing Olympics 2008 Opening Ceremony digitally captured in HD at 20mbps in 1920×1080p mpeg 2 video resolution with 448 kbps 5.1 channel AC3 audio which is 26 GB file to a H264 AVC HD .mp4 1080p video with 448 Kbps AAC 5.1 channel surround sound version that will fit on 1 DVD +R DL disc. If you want the BEST 1080p High Quality video and audio for this show then please wait for the 1080p version I will be uploading when it is ready. It takes some time to encode a 1080p file even with a Core 2 Duo with 4 GB of ram.

    As a local commentator nicely put it. When China got to arrange the olympics China and the rest of the world saw it in two different ways. While the rest of the world thought it would be a chance for China to prove that they are serious about making changes in human rights and stuff. China on the other hand thought of it as the rest of the world had already accepted them and there is no need for further improvement. Their motto for the games “One World One Dream” is a big joke to be honest. They had their chance and they didn’t take it. And THATS why China will never arrange the game again, unless they FIRST make the changes the rest of the world demands.

    Politics asside, the ceremony was awesome and I think the participants will have a great experience! Nothing wrong with China when it comes to that.

    Now if I could only find a good english/swedish 720p torrent!

    Fistly english is my second lanuage and I barely even spoke english at all a few years back.so pardon me if I didnt make myself clear.I should’ve used ‘or’ rather than a lazy ‘/’ instead.
    Secondly by off topic what I meant was ‘politics or human rights’ rather than the ceremony.’just politics,nothing more’ doesn’t give poland an excuse for what they have done.
    as for your ‘a lot fingers’, Chinese people dont like starting ‘pointing fingers at the others’ unless when defending ourselves and our more than 1 billion countrymen are just as patriatic and brave as the polish freedom fighters in world war II or even more. Generally Chinese people are the low-key type and We have been trying to get stronger and stronger peacefully rather than invading or bullying other small countries.Many times we said we have no intention of being an enemy to any other country whatsoever. If some one still sees our rapid growth in just 30 years as a threat then our suggestion is ‘ deal with it’ becuse the old centry-long underdog era is long gone.Those who hate us can never force us to do anything we dont want to therefore the only option left for them is ‘talk the talk’. we are happy with where we are and where we are heading, we can care less about what the other ‘mean people’ think of us.

    back to the olympics, we threw a party inviting many friends trying to have a good time. If you were the host what would you say to those party crashers or bashers in you house ?

    I’m done talking to those who have never been to china or got to know chinese history and culture. if you like our party, come and have a drink, if not leave us alone.

    Truly the most boring Olympic opening ceremony ever: Disneyland-esque polyster costumes and fireworks. At least it wasn’t the traditional China spectacle: i.e., tanks rolling over university students, pistol shot executions of political dissidents, dancing assembly workers murdering children with poison-laced toys, and, of course, the ever popular coordinated mass spitting.

    Well this is what I think the Olympics is about:
    It’s about humanity, the human civilization, how we as humans have advanced over the ages and come to this point. It’s about how people can come together and play sports in a competitive manner without animosity. It’s easy to be overwhelmed by negative emotions, what this country has done to our country, the wars that we had and the atrocities committed by them. So it is not easy for sportspeople over the world to come together to show that it is possible. Dialogue is possible, not getting into fights is possible, even though tempers can still flare on the field. It’s also about openness – people can accuse different countries like China for being oppressive but these people are usually unwilling to open themselves up to the possibility of trying to understand the context and situations in these other countries. They stick to their cliche views of ‘3rd world countries who commit atrocities’ and accuse other people of being closed when they are unwilling to try to understand other people. But it is ok, because ultimately it is good to be open about how we feel, and even though the chinese govt have been accused of their lack of transparency and their censorship, what matters is that all these are known, they are not kept secret. So we know the warts that china have, now are we willing to try to understand the good things going on there, and in other parts of the world?
    I support HH the Dalai Lama, and what he is trying to do for Tibet, and support his views that people should not boycott the Olympics, but still there are many people who insists on doing that. Their minds are closed, nothing you say will help them to try to understand others. These people are exactly the same as the old stalwarts in the Chinese Communist Party – self-absorbed people who refuse to listen to others.
    The Olympics is not just about China, even not just about sports, it’s about humanity, and I hope that there will be peace, and that people will uphold the sacred of this global event. The Chinese culture is part of human civilization, and so too is the Tibetan culture.

    Orenji version is fromm US NBC stream, quality is good but sadly as it was prerecorded, they cut the opening ceremony from 4+ hours to 3+ hours. That means around 1 hours loss! At least 10 minutes is loss to advertisement during the first hour. The PDTV Tiggzz version seems the only complete one as BBC One has no advertisement.

    I’m Still Encoding the 1920×1080i version to 1080p H264 AVC HD mp4 file with 448 kbps 5.1 AAC audio and it will have NO commercials in it as I edited all the commercials out so it is commercial free. Without the commercials the program was 3 hours 31 minues 12 seconds long and wiil fit on 1 DVD +R DL disc in 1080p High Definition. The Quality of my 1080p version BLOWS the 720p version away as I downloaded that version to see what comptition I was up against. When I do upload it it will either be uploaded to USENET or I will upload it via bittorrent. I havent decided yet which way to upload it yet.

What about every country in this world for starter they are all governments aka mafia/triad/gangs so all government is wrong. Human rights this human rights that, just makes me sick.     Kudos to the organizer, and the THOUSDANDS of performers. They made a Pink Floyd concert look like a three year old with a crayon. Utterly mind boggling. And I HATE dancing, opra kinda of crap, but this was just so overwhelmingly performed, and the tech was tremendous,more than tremendous, I don’t know how to express my admireation for all involved.

    Kudos to the imagination that brought this to life. The only down time is the introducing of the nations. Not much anyone can do with that. But the other stuff? Un-friggin-believable.

    No person that actually watced this said, “boring, worst ever,” You people have other agendas. This show is now, legendary.

    First, I have the 4 hr 12 min version of the Opening Ceremony. It looks pretty good to me. I don’t watch the actual sporting events all that much. I’m more of a Winter Olympics person. But, I do like the Opening Ceremonies where 190 countries around the world at least pretend to like each other. And, among all the pomp, a little humor comes through it all occasionally.

    For example, about 50 or so minutes into it, there’s a whole bunch of guys wearing white robes and marching around. Every one of them was stone-faced serious except for this one guy (grin). His eyes were big and he was glancing to his fellow marchers left and right – and the worried expression on his face made me suspect he was saying to himself, “Oh, God, please don’t let me f*ck up.”

    Then, there was another moment when internationally famous pianist, Lang Lang, was playing piano with a Chinese child (can’t recall name) who’s considered to be a prodigy. It started out well … until a group of people got up – their shadows walking in front of the two pianists – causing the TV crew to switch cameras. Most people probably thought that was a wise move, camera-wise. But I wonder (grin). The Chinese hosts had just spent the last few minutes bragging about their contributions to the world (ie., movable type 500 years before Gutenberg’s press, the first compass, etc.). And I thought … hmmm … maybe those people got up on purpose and were meant to walk in front of the two pianists. The heads popping up and their shadows walking across the screen may have been China’s symbolic way of bragging about their contribution to the world of movie piracy (grin).

    In any event, I decided to perform an experiment. I added a few seconds of blank video/audio to the beginning and end of the file – making it’s total run time 4 hr 12 min 26 sec. Then, I transcoded it with Canopus ProCoder to an NTSC MPEG2 file with 224k AC3 audio & 6000 VBR video bitrate. I authored it to a DVD ISO using DVDshrink’s deep analysis and adaptive error compensation methods and managed to fit it all on a single DVD. And, it looks pretty good. I uploaded the files to RS in case anyone else is interested. The files will unRAR to:

    Sparx or whomever, I just spent the last 11 days downloading the PIX proper, and the following files after putting them together were named as corrupt, and I am desperately hoping that someone has them to post:
    pix-og.ocb.2008.720p.hdtv.x264.r02 97,657 kb
    pix-og.ocb.2008.720p.hdtv.x264.r29 97,657 kb
    I cannot be sure under which 200mb RS post it was corrupt on, but the above files are the ones that WinRAR named as corrupt after extracting the 29 200mb files. Thanks so much to anyone that can help. -Mr.B

    On the PiX version…
    it looks like to me after several re-downloads of several parts in the 29 part series that part 14 (or http://rapidshare.com/files/137724426/Olympic.Games.Opening.Ceremony.Beijing.2008.PROPER.720p.HDTV.x264-PiX.part14.rar) is having the issue which in turn causes “pix-og.ocb.2008.720p.hdtv.x264.r29″ to be corrupted. But if someone else out there has a either a working part 14 (of the 200mb RS pack) or a working part 29 (of the actual video pack), I would really appreciate it. I love the fact that this spectacle was uploaded in 720p, even in though its not really in accordance to scene rules, but I would love it even more if I could watch it (perhaps even watch it up to the missing 29th part?) Thanks posters and uploaders for everything else along the way…
