It doesn’t matter how much money he makes from this site. Martin had a great idea when he decided to create Rlslog, the amount of unique visitor each day is a proof of that. I think it’s normal for people with good ideas to be rewarded for them.

Good? Are you serious? That site was a trash can. The crap wave hits you the moment you enter that site. You have to scroll through pages and pages of obscure, moronic TV episodes that no one heard of or care about just to reach anything worthwhile. And are there anything worthwhile there? Do you even see any quality application releases even after going through the trash?
I actually considered regular their site as an alternative to this one at first, but decided life is too short to waste on them.

Old RLSLOG staff “hacked” the page so it would redirect you to a page where they say who they don’t like, then redirects you to their own site… It’s old and awesome forum posters that banned together and made their site ad-free because they felt Martin getting money for people visiting the site and posting ads was wrong. Like, it’s totally up to the page creator, but I see their point. There’s always 2 sides to the fence…

I use this site everyday, i rarely download, but i do use it. But srsly, okay if he didn’t change the password, that cheap modification of the logo (inverted colors, pathetic) as well as some stupid coding to redirect to a site that is up there with the nastiest looking webpages in the modern world. So hard to navigate… welcome back online RLSLOG.

Frankly, I don’t give a damn about the “old and awesome forum posters,” or Martin on the other side, for that matter. Who cares about the politics? The fact is, their site stinks. If it’s actually good I’d easily go there instead of Rlslog. Not having ads is meaningless if they don’t have quality releases either. It’s a pain to browse through all those crap TV episodes trying to find some real release, and then realize you’ve just wasted your time because the said real release does not actually exist there. That trash they call releases are more annoying than ads.

Perhaps you have a problem with your eye sight, but if you want to go straight to browsing apps, check the right hand site of the site. Its at the top right and starts with an A, and is listed directly under Categories.
Before slagging off a site and how its run, try actually learning the basics of navigating a web site. -

Long live RELEASELOG. That site redirected me on my iphone and usually I don’t like to search on my iphone anything that wastes my time, especially late at night before going to sleep. Well, I felt like wow a new site, checked it out and it straight up sucked really bad. Old releases and the point of it redirecting me pissed me off, I know what I want to see, no one will tell me what page to go to n such stuff like that. I don’t care if releaselog makes money, we all work in our jobs, those same people should go to their bosses and tell them to take their checks back because they want to work for free. Let’s see how long you end up in a place with a roof and 4 walls compared to becoming a BUM. Everything in life costs money, go to get ure car fixed in a shop and those workers will charge u money for the actual work, not just for the parts that u also have to pay for. It would have looked good in my eyes if they did it in a respectable manner, but Reeged, or however u spell it acted like a child. Keep up the good job releaselog, and don’t turn your back on us. Matin - I first ‘found’ this site when the arguement first started. The goodbye post was the first I ever read. From what has gone on and the ‘facts’ brought up and actions taken by either party I can 100% say I do support and will continue to support RSLLOG.

He doesn’t make $5000/month off this site, Maybe quarterly, but not monthly. Anyone who own their own site with an Alexa ranking of 20,000 to 10,000 knows that.
And even if he DID, over half of that would cover expenses for monthly hosting, bandwidth and a bunch of other things. If the guy gets to pocket a couple thousand every month, so what? It’s his job. He runs the site. He invented it.
And all of YOU PEOPLE use it and don’t have to pay a DIME for your thousands of dollars worth of movies, software and games that you download every month.
That’s the pot calling the kettle black. Even worse, actually, considering all of us who visit the site and download these posts are technically stealing.
Who’s the real thief? At least I have the balls to admit it.

I thought it was pretty funny. So what if they hacked the site. WE ALL STEAL MOVIES! By all means he does a good job, but competition is a GOOD thing. It forces both sides to try their best. I don’t agree with popups, but like others said that is what adblocker is for. If Martin is going to have people “work” for him, then why not pay them? Not in Pizza and birthday gifts. Helping is one thing, but if the Site admin is making that much cash would it hurt to share? I have nothing against Martin or the “rebels”, but I don’t see the need for everyone to bash them for trying their own site. We praise a hacker if they sabotage CNN or Amazon, but we are ready to throw stones if they mess with our beloved P2P sites… Come morning everything will be back to normal.

I had a bit of sympathy for the former RLSLOG staff but with the latest stunt they’ve proven themselves to be in the wrong and ouright cowards. Martin is making money from the ads but that’s what keeps the site going and this takes work. Isn’t it fair he be compensated for his time and bandwidth? It’s either that or ask for donations which may not cover the costs. That’s the reality of running a site. The former staff are just bitter,especially the guy who was demoted for abusing his power as mod.They should get on with their lives and concentrate on building their site up. Maybe then it’ll be worth visiting.

No matter what rlslog makes a month. that shouldn’t be an issue. i don’t know anyone willing to do all this work for free and pay out of his pocket just to keep it free. i hope he makes 5 g’z or more after paying everying to keep the site runnin’. all i want it to keep seeing RLSLOG.NET alive everyday so i can come check out the releases. if anyone has some common sense they can find all the movies even without this site but i’d rather have rlslog on my side and make it alot eazier.

If keeping this site up-to-date and running was a full-time job for Martin… considering its relative popularity, I don’t think $5,000 a month is too much (though I don’t think he is receiving that, and I don’t think he’s full-time, right?). Well, $60,000 a year for such work in creating operating and maintaining a popular website is acceptable IMO.
(oh, and yes its more than I earn, but what I do hasn’t garnered six figure numbers of unique interested parties each day)

The fact that a website makes money is of absolutely no concern to anyone but its owner. Rlslog is a free site; it doesn’t charge to view its content; if you don’t like the fact that Martin has to instate advertisements to generate running costs, leave.

The really sad part about the security breach was I figured out how to stop the redirect. It loaded once the side bar loaded so if I stopped the broswer from loading that I never got the redirect as it would never load.
As for that other site, I’m not going to be using it, didn’t do anything to impress me and add to that the childish act of making a redirect from here to there just so folks would go is not a very professional thing to do.

reeged needs a psych workup. All the guy wanted was power. It was never about money. He wanted the same admin rights as Martin. When he had them for a little while he abused them. He couldn’t take the smallest amount of criticism. He deleted more post than anyone on rlslog. He even banned posters if you offended him. Good riddince to the jerk. And redirecting was a bad move. People aren’t stupid like he seems to think. Who would go to his site after what he pulled?
