OiNK Servers Raided!
According to TorrentFreak one of the, if not the most popular music torrent sites, OiNK has been brought offline with their servers raided and the admin ‘OiNK’ a 24 year old Briton arrested. At the time of writing the site is unresponsive, so it looks like the reports are true, further proof is that the IFPI has put out a statement on the raid as well as the police confirming the arrest. FYI I never paid a cent during the three years I’ve used the site. Sure the Admins were really strict, but that and the fact that it was private kept the quality of the rips real good and I got hold of a lot of rare albums that there was no way of getting hold in other ways, even by paying.

Never had to pay a penny, didn’t know anyone who ever did.
Each member got a number of invites thay could give out to others freely.
Invites were mine to give to whomever I wanted.
NO FEES INVOLVED!

I personally don’t see the logic in spending 2yrs on an investigation and probably millions of dollars just to take down a site that inevitably will cause the surge in members to look elsewhere and make some other site famous and make it reach the status of the one fallen.

For the record, OiNK was not a money making scheme, it was a site for sharing high quality music that you could not get anywhere else, in many cases you couldn’t even buy the stuff that was available there, suck as rare old jazz records. I believe that the majority of the users were, as I am, music lovers who found many new artists during their stay in the community, and who spent quite a lot of cash on albums, lp’s, merchandise and concerts, all benefiting said artists. If there ever was a piracy site that did more good than harm, this was it.
And as for the admins, they were strict but fair, exactly what was needed to keep the quality of the tracker above any competition.
R.I.P. OiNK’s, I enjoyed my stay over the last 2-3years.

The guy arrested was not hosting files. Donations could have been made(if you did not have music files/URLs to share) so that you could become a member. It was practically a meeting place for members to get together with other members who had the links. He was the middle man. Very grey area to be arrested for.
