@26,27,28: You can actually use one port for upload and the other for download... not sure how useful that actually is..

@ #26 & # 27,

If it is anything like my 680i, then you have the option to do "Teaming" and combine the bandwidth of the two Gigabit LANs, into one 2 Gigabit LAN ... or something like that, I forget, I never used the feature...

#26 "A1" models have x2 RJ45 connectors other models will just have 1, its obviously used to connect to two separate networks but yes it is a little excessive i have never found a good use for the 2nd RJ45 connect on my 680i SLI A1 but my friend has one hooked up to his DSL line and another hooked up to his cable line; if you are using virtualization it might also come in handy.

#24 780i > X38 simply due to it having every feature that X38 has in addition to tri-SLI support whereas X38 doesn't even support 2 cards let alone 3. It just depends on what you use it for but everyone that uses nForce boards are gamers/enthusiasts so if you think X38 is better then this board wasn't made for you to begin with.

Me personally i am very hesitant to buy 780i due to the fact that with Intel Skulltrail boards (x2 cpu sockets) supposedly coming out in the next 60-90 days nForce 880i would be less than 6 months away if Nvidia wanted to stay competitive, which i am sure they do. That would in turn render this board outdated within 6 months and due to the fact that i only do one personal build per year i am sure you can see why i have reservations.

This is why i always wait until Feb/Mar to do my yearly personal build, but if Skulltrail supports SLI then i will be going with that due to the fact that it can support x2 processors........ OCTcore anyone? :D

I stopped looking at nVidia mobos once they dropped support for the older nf2 for Vista. If in the future they'll do the same with the so many chipsets they have right now it'll suck!
(I never said Vista won't load on a nf2 mobo! So don't start with that)

By <i>"SLI is a joke"</i> he meant the scalability is not as good as it should be. Read more on Quad SLI.

I think Jon must be mentally ill if he honestly believes that Nvidia is in any way being threatened by Intel... Now there might be a rivalry between ATI(AMD) and Nvidia, but as far as video chipsets and cards go, Intel is absolute software driven trash. Intel video is the new winmodem...

@18 "SLI is a joke"
With the graphics card GPU/memory being the most stressed computer parts used when playing games, I think sharing the load between 2-3 lower priced graphics cards in SLI makes sense. (all the eggs are not in one basket financially and heat dissipation would be better)

In addition, you can add more graphics power in the future. [If you only get one card (or two) at first then you can add card(s) as they become cheaper]

P.S. I have not studied SLI yet and I still have just a single 6800GT (overclocked past Ultra), but I assume the above to make sense. Tell me if I'm wrong with my assumptions about SLI...Thanks
