I downloaded 4 times winamp the new version from trendmicro and it does have a virus so be very very cautious if you decide to download it. i loved it but when i redid my computer i lost the install so download it and bam trojans up the butt. only trouble with windows media it does not always play songs form loaded cds. where winamp did. i may try itunes see if i like it.

Yeah well I’v played music and recorded since 1972! So I would say I know alittle something about sound. I’v used everthing out there at one time or another and always come back to Winamp for Music not Movies!It’s just plain simple to use.

P.S. It also doesn’t take control of your system ala Real Player and some others.

MediaMonkey is imo way better then Winamp and Foobar. It’s great for big music collections

Since the old days I’m still with Winamp, yes, I don’t like the modern skin, I use the classic one without the plugins… it’s fine just like the old 2.666 version

I use the Real Player!! It’s the best by far.

Lol… just kidding, thought I’d make you laugh.

The old winamps were good, I use one sometimes… I use I-tunes to fill my I pod but that’s it….I use Windows Media Player once in awhile… but my favorite would be “Media Monkey” – it has tons of options/features, without being too confusing… and it doesn’t take 3 years to launch it.

Fair enough. But to my defense I didn’t say “noticeably better” audio quality . Even if most humans can’t hear the difference, it’s still there (if you use kernel streaming at least).

Do you have a link to the tests you mention? I’m not an audiophile myself but this stuff interests me.

On a sidenote, anyone that wants cheap, good audio quality from their computer should by a X-Fi XtremeMusic and mod it according to this guide: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=229350

It’s a night/day difference after the mod (if you have decent gear at least).

it doesnt really matter if you are playing mp3 128k or wahtever on whatever program because if it doesnt come from the CD then why are we talking about quality??

Who cares what player you like, use or want. This software was posted here for the ppl who like this particular player.
All this stupid debating clogs all the good intel that some ppl might have on the posted software. Maybe someday the player you use might be posted here, would it be nice if I for instance would just flood the thread with BS, when you trying to search for some good commentary on it?

Anyone tried Media Monkey? I prefer it to all the others, (Never really got on with Winamp) & i dont have to use crappy itunes for the ipod no more.
Downloaded an add-on script to download all the missing album covers too. Look for the 2.5.5 version that fixed ipod bugs.
