Using WinAmp is like playing a game- I’m talking about the UI as well as the resource usage. With foobar, all I do is load it up, it resumes from where I was playing last, and goes into its nice little corner in the system tray. I also set it up to use global hotkeys, so I never have to deal with the main interface at all. Its almost like my PC has this builtin ability to play music. The resource usage is incredibly low so I can continue to do my stuff without any UI interaction at all.

On top of that, all my music is in aacPlus format, and WinAmp doesn’t handle aacPlus properly. If I remember correctly, it used to only handle the aac part and doesn’t render the SBR component, which gives aacPlus its fidelity at low bitrates.

Of course, there are times when I use to WinAmp, for example when I want to play streaming audio or browse to the huge list of online radio stations winamp has. Otherwise, its foobar2000 for music and VLC/GOM for video.

FB2k doesnt support mms or rtps streaming, real audio, ac3, matroska, quicktime, or OGM.

Foobar doesnt support video at all while The KMPlayer (yay) supports everything even dvd’s and flv (flash).

Because you need heaps of 3rd party addons for it many ppl have issues running it under Vista.

Won’t let you listen to partial finished downloads so you can make sure its not a fake.

Doesn’t have enqueue or shell integration so you fellas are probably wiping out playlists by the billion.

It does have Replay gain which just plain sucks atm, and gapless audio playback wtf, it doesnt burn CD’s so um it might be useful if you use windows inbuilt CD burner.

Also googling on “the kmplayer sucks” produces no hits while….
