Size: 144.62 MB! Just for an Anti-Virus.
If there is a reward for making the most bloated useless app Symantec is the winner.
Even kiddy haxxorz these days start by knowing how to tackle Norton cr4p in a victim’s box.

copy of my warning from the other thread:
I was using NAV (or Symantec AV) for more than 2 years. Don’t blame me, it was a company policy. So I can tell U first hand – its a MAJOR CRAP!!! Not just that it slowed down my puter pretty much, but when the real treat came, it failed miserably. I had to use another AV to get rid of the virus but of course it didnt let me install it so I had to uninstall NAV first. It asked me to insert some kind of a uninstall password and refused to uninstall w/o it, but I was able to google the solution and remove that crap from my PC. During removal it totally screwed up my PC, it crashed and refused to connect to any network, all the net services were down cuz it screwed up IPsec, not to mention a simple reboot took s/t like 20mins. I am an advanced user but I had to call a professional to bring my book back to life. When I told him NAV is behind it he just sighed… I also used Symantec ClientVPN and can tell U I won’t be using any Symantec SW ever again!

    @ hacker1 -

NortonIS is a mega resource hog. Basically it feels like having 40 Trojans, which kind of defeats the purpose. My parents had it on their comp until I convinced them to change to Kaspersky Internet Security 7. It was way more intrusive and laggy than useful. Kaspersky catches more baddies anyways, and KIS7 is loaded with more bells and whistles without weighing down your system. I still use the Symantec Online scanner everyone once in a blue moon for a second opinion on suspect files, but installing it isn’t worth it IMO.

people want to call 160mb bloatware…. its an all in one app…. lets complain about a movie rip thats 1.4gig or a music cd ripped in 192+kph of space stealing waste… now thats bloated… anything small is most likely open source and probably uses code writen from windows itself.. why would anyone use the windows firewall first off…

I think Peter Norton should take back the name from Symantec, they are ruining his reputation so badly that no one wants to use nowadays… On the other hand, Symantec Antivirus Corp edition is fast and lightweight, why there is such a big difference?
