    April 9th, 2007 | 19:34

    BitDefender ftw!

  12. Ben
    April 9th, 2007 | 19:37

Eset, the creators of NOD32, have released a beta of Eset Smart Security. It has anti-spyware, anti-virus, firewall, spam protection, and needs almost no configuration. I’m trying it out now, and its taking only 12MB of RAM. I love it. I’d suggest anyone here try out Eset, Kaspersky, or even ZoneAlarm over Norton.

  13. April 9th, 2007 | 19:44

Is norton better that F-Secure? I have to re-new my F-Secure license but if I can get this for free and if it’s better I’d rather save the money :)

  14. April 9th, 2007 | 19:45

If youre talking about paywhere then Kaspersky is ok, NOD32 is better though. If you do not like to spend cash and still want legal ways to save your soul then aVast is unbeatable in that segment. More info about what ben said can be found here: http://www.eset.com/company/article.php?contentID=3326.

  15. April 9th, 2007 | 19:50

What is wrong with me, meant payWARE lol. Norton is like a virus itself, it wont do you any good, it has resources and compatibility issues. simpsons225, my philosophy is not to pay a thing for software ever, either it be freeware or the crackz0rs way.

  16. Salicious
    April 9th, 2007 | 19:54

    I’ll stick with Nod32

  17. April 9th, 2007 | 19:55

IF YOU READ THIS YOUR A BIG FUCKING FAGGOT!

  18. wtf
    April 9th, 2007 | 20:01

wickido: if you don’t want to pay for nothing use Linux, great alternative and virus-free too!

  19. April 9th, 2007 | 21:19

i dont use this software and never have problems

  20. April 9th, 2007 | 21:30

Agnitum and or zonealarm pro for firewall and nod32 2.70.32 for antivirus or kaspersky antivirus. Search and Destroy and pareto anti spyware or ad-ware v7.. anything but norton will save you. Norton was good once upon a time, but now its just shit and useless, cause you more problems than solve.

  21. 420
    April 9th, 2007 | 22:20

    Kaspersky still reigns king

  22. April 9th, 2007 | 23:01

    whats so wrong with norton?

i still use internet security 2005 ,no resource hog ,never had a problem with it ? i dont know whats all this norton sucks resource hog shits all about .

FUCK YOU ALL NORTON RULES !

  23. April 9th, 2007 | 23:22

If you’re looking for an alternate, use avast. Its free, quick and non of the norton bullshit.

I swear norton brings down more PCs via freezes / crashes and sudden death than the actual viruses do.

  24. G-lock
    April 10th, 2007 | 01:25

people that complain about Norton software simply do so because they have a lame ass old fart of a PC ! So what if it does use up a lot of resources , i dont give a flying fuck because i NEVER get infected with viruses and trojans and other crap other antivirus are prone to bypass ! Im currently running norton Internet Security 2005
on an intel 3.5ghz/512ddr/6800GT and it DOESNT Hog resources as much as they say . Its all Hype . I dare you to try it for 6 months , then you will see the truth .

And just so you know , i dont work with or am affiliated with the norton company .

    April 10th, 2007 | 03:26

why do you need to use a system hog norton if other anti virus wich uses less rescources to run and not to mention much more detections

(i know you got one good computer but norton is not that practical)

  27. April 10th, 2007 | 05:06

James: get NOD32 — it’s freaking awesome! It detects a lot, hourly updates, and doesn’t hog resources.

This copmany is now also making a firewall (in beta right now) for the ultimate security package!

    April 10th, 2007 | 05:43

Just use linux and forget about the bloody virus.
It gets old cleaning up regularly.

  29. April 10th, 2007 | 12:06

what about if your a gamer Flavour Flav i use windows for games and you have to have some kind of internet security and norton wins hands down its simple easy to use and does not hog your resources if anyone thinks norton is some kind of bloated resource hog get a new computer .

    April 11th, 2007 | 13:21

It’s a sad thing to do, if you have to buy a new computer just to deal with the insecurity of a particular OS.

-kaspersky a lot of false positives no good heuristic.the firewall no stealth amd open a lot of ports test shieldsup.org
    Dont scan registry entries
-nod 32 no scan all compressed files. Very bad antispyware.miss a lot of trojans.Dont scan registry entries.
    there´s no perfect antivir.
I have norton 360 and it scan fast. But not have options all its automatic (bad). And it doesnt hog resources like trend micro, panda, ca, mcafee.
For example panda its a hog resources but scan very fast in real time and on-demand.Because its not the same hog resources and slowly your pc.
See AV-comparatives.com to see an example of detection.
    Sorry for my inglish.
    From Italy.

Key worked fine for 12 hours until I decided to also install Norton System Works EDGEISO … The sys.works key kept working but NIS started asking for activation… took some time to get to phone activation and generating a new key didn’t do it - the installation was activated with 0 (zero) remaining subscription days.

Help? Not sure I can bother installing both packages again … but since I know from before that other security packages don’t like running on machines with Norton Systemworks (F-secure for example appear to use same “motor” shared win files) I should get this working or find another system cleaner/optimizer … as good as WinDoctor?

  49. June 26th, 2007 | 12:26

I recommend a big hammer for protection

O Puhleeeeze..!!! You guyz should better do some research before posting anything about NIS2007… Have u ppl ever even tried to check the scores of NIS2007 on the most respectable review-websites like CNET or PCMAG?????

Jus go there and check…!!! You’ll regret..!!

Norton has worked hard to solve the problems that were in 2004, 2005 and 2006 versions….and now in the version 2007 , which is fast and less resource hog….u’ll find top notch anivirus and firewall. Spyware is even better than ZonealarmISS 7….and spyware is important part of a security suite.

I was using ZAiss7 from last year…. but ZA makes my pc very slow…whenever i try to connect to internet, my system hangs for 30 seconds…which is why i started looking for a new software and end up at Norton, which was improved a lot….

….and..Norton Internet Security 2008…..guyz believe me its rocking….everyone is lovin it…jus download a 15 days trail and see…

God..i dont beleive that i’m writing this in favour of Norton….lol

  58. Gaganlok
    November 15th, 2007 | 16:42

But its always ON…ie u cannot turn it off..therefore its using a little system resources even if u hav scanned ur computer thoroughly and not using internet/internet is off.

A bad news for a gamer like mee…..which will be affected during gameplay…

So switching to Kaspersky internet Security 7 right now….
