ANY of those are better than Norton !!!!!
I still prefer Avast Home Edition.Its free and effective,so you don’t have to worry about those invalid keys or viruses.
BitDefender is the best.
Norton sucks big time and will screw up your computer more than help it and you’ll never be able to completely uninstall it.

well to be truthfull I dumped nav 2008 because of two many problems. avg sucks and all others dont protect at all free or not. IUf you want a good antivirus with almost no overhead and works perfectly check out vipre just been released by sunbelt software and you have to buy it.I bought it for my three computers and works great
i still use the older version of nod32, you can’t get any faster and reliable AV than nod32

noone- Actually, you can. Quite easily. And I’m sure your unqualified blind false sense of security in an “older version of Nod32″ has lead to all kinds of nasties on your machine you’re unaware of. NOD32’s detection rate has been tested as moderately efficient, but compared to Kaspersky or BitDefender, not exactly gangbusters. NOD32 has good heuristics and is good at catching variants and hybrids but tends to miss a lot of the bigger threats. That’s all compounded that you have an “older version” (lol) where your AV is only as good as its updated definitions.

I’ll stick not using antivirus software using up my RAM/CPU, just like VIRUSes. instead i use the computer wisely.

I was using NAV (or Symantec AV) for more than 2 years. Don’t blame me, it was a company policy. So I can tell U first hand - its a MAJOR CRAP!!! Not just that it slowed down my puter pretty much, but when the real treat came, it failed miserably. I had to use another AV to get rid of the virus but of course it didnt let me install it so I had to uninstall NAV first. It asked me to insert some kind of a uninstall password and refused to uninstall w/o it, but I was able to google the solution and remove that crap from my PC. During removal it totally screwed up my PC, it crashed and refused to connect to any network, all the net services were down cuz it screwed up IPsec, not to mention a simple reboot took s/t like 20mins. I am an advanced user but I had to call a professional to bring my book back to life. When I told him NAV is behind it he just sighed… I also used Symantec ClientVPN and can tell U I won’t be using any Symantec SW ever again!
i have used all antiviruse software firewalls etc as im a network engineer and Kaspersky and NOD32 are very good if you pay for them
but dont bother downloading programs like this from torrent site newsgroups p2p always get invalid keys and if you get a valid key it will soon become invalid 
from my experiance if you dont want to pay like me use Zone Alarm free firewall with AVG is the best setup or you can use avast with Zone Alarm firewall its all up to you.
I was a fan of norton long , long time ago but now no more.
I recommend you to use bitdefender. according to some tests/reviews it cleans the most spyware and ofcourse virusses atc

Never used Norton. Actually I did for a test, and I found out it’s total crap. And that was long time ago.
As I hear some people who were recently using it, say it’s total crap. They turned to KAV, NOD or Avast.
Avast is also crap, my girlfriend installed soulseek, and it didn’t worked until I found out that P2P scanner was active. And it’s installed by n00b. Luckly I’m not in the n00b world. LOL
I STILL PREFER NORTON… THOSE LOUDMOUTHS PC JUST CANT CARRY THE LOAD OF GREAT PROGRAMS…

wow… today was a joke. This morning i hopped in the shower after cutting my chin and mustache 8 times with my worthless disposable razor, felt some pain while washing my face, realized they were raised welts (cystic acne). I opened the shower curtain and looked straight down at the tile, i was so close to getting out and swinging on the tiles as hard as i could… i must have stared at them for 5 minutes. But anyway, i get out and feel a really strong urge to use the bathroom… i normally hold it for 3 or 4 days cause i hate doing #2 lol…. But this was day 5… and i HAD to go. NOW.
I sat on the toilet after i got dressed and took a half diarrhea, half solid release. The solid part was so thick and wide that i honestly felt some of the worst pains of my life during the pushing. I started pulling up my pants right as the last bit fell out, tightened my belt and flushed the toilet… See i never believed in wiping before, thought it was a waste of time and what not, … I mean I never get anything from wiping anyway so wtf is the point… right?
holy god was i wrong… i got to school and felt solid clumps deep between my cheeks, i figured my boxers were bunched up or summat. Right as i made it to my first period door i thought i felt something wet against my boxers… when i sat down my hypothesis was correct.. i had feces on them, and could start to smell them slightly. The damned room must have been 90 degrees, heat blowing because a computer malfunctioned, my ass and back started to sweat profusely and i had to make as little movement as possible to avoid disrupting it anymore. My teacher called me up to get a test paper, I thought about telling him to just throw it away, but of course i had to be an ideot and go up to get it, i walked by one kid and he said “dude you smell like bbq or something” My face got so red and everyone started saying “holy sh1t, you smell bad man, did you shower???”
I ignore them and get back to my desk… i take a look back at the board and notice a black dot on the ground, kids started questioning what it was and my heart started RACING. One kid sniffed it and exclaimed “OH MY GOD, ITS POOP!!!!” at this point the class was laughing excessively, i put my head down on my desk and smelled FUMES coming out from below it, i looked down and there was SH1T smeared all over the tile floor and on the bottoms of my jeans.
I ran full speed out the door, walked home and ended up punching my dads laptop on the way in and breaking the screen, he still isn’t home, its gonna be hell when he sees it. I can honestly say im dropping out of school and enlisting in the marines, im NEVER showing my face at high school again. I mean it doesnt matter anyway, my GPA is 1.2 and im a 19 year old sophmore.

first when i said older version, i was referring to the version prior of version 3…
now, i get like 5 virus threats a year (if that much), the two processes from nod32 take like 18mb in memory, nod32 updates it’s virus definitions like 5 times a day, my pc it’s almost turning 4 yr old (1GB of ddr RAM), it boots in 50 to 60sec, i download aprox 50GB per month of games, apps, videos, music, whatever… the last time i had to format my pc was at November last year and i did it only because the pc was a mess and i like to tidy things up from time to time, and between dozens of games and hundreds of apps that i have installed and work with since that time i had one broken mouse wheel… …
so do i need a 30-50mb in memory AV?
no thank you…
AVs like norton are for people who don’t know a thing about pcs and prefer to let the apps do everything for them…

I’ve stop using any Norton products after version 2002, since version 2003 they are going downhill and slowing my PC a lot, some games even unable to launch, I need to disable the Norton tray icon in order to play games! I’ve also installed NIS 2004 in my friend’s PC, she complained that after XP bootup, it takes forever for the HDD to stop blinking, and all memory is used by Norton, it is slow to launch other programs like MSOFFICE after that…horrible…
does’nt norton have any key or sumthing like tht for validation………? ty
