I don’t know if Symantec alone is to blame, as I know that Vista is still a LOOOOONG way from stable and really usable, but my evaluation of Norton 360 is that it should NEVER have been released with so many flaws and needs for user intervention on basic configuration issues. Please reconsider other options before making this mistake.

One more thing: all three of those links you posted are slanted articles taken directly from the mouths of: Suprise! – “security experts” and AV software sellers.

What do i mean? I mean linux users, most, are smarter than average users, simple as that. You have to be to switch over to linux cold. Even a dead simple distro Like Fedora Core 5 takes a bit of getting used to, doing simple windows style tasks usually takes about a day to get used to in Fedora.

So how this you whiny little kids.

Linux doesn’t make you safer BUT of the people that are using linux the majority know enuff to secure their box, which I will admit is much easier on a linux machine.

But this linux is safer by default crap doesn’t float with me, or anyone with half a brain. Linux bugs are fixed quicker, simple as that.

And exploits aren’t the problem? Do you even know what an exploit is? For christ sakes pal worms and such play havock with networks because of the traffic increase. Exploits allow attackers access levels they shouldn’t have, and most of the ones you hear about now deal with executing code on a remote machine with admin rights.

Firstly, I’ve probably used more distros than you so whatever. And what are they teaching in schools these days? I really dunno I’ve been out and working in IT for the government for over a decade, you tell me kid.

As for the “root” and super user crap, yup if you follow the advice and run as a standard user you are a little safer. Just like if you follow the basic steps to secure a windows machine.

Stating Linux is safer is a farce. It’s not. You aren’t safer or better just because you use linux.

The simple fact that windows WON’T allow you to modify system code makes it safer. Linux distros are open, allowing you to recompile binaries and all that fun stuff.

No AV solutions for linux? YOU ARE ON CRACK.

Whatever I’m not gonna argue anyone with a brain or time to research knows I’m right.

And before you desperately try to flame me again, I use various linux distros at home so suck it.

That means you have got to try Norton 360 to see for yourself. This is a great product! I’ll buy it; but FREE is always better, right?
