No Country for Old Men DVDSCR XviD-DoNE

DoNE bring us a great release this time, No Country for Old Men. The quality is a great improvement from the previous cam but there are blurred property messages throughout. Better than this would be a DVDRip so grab this one till then. With amazing ratings both by critics and viewers and being no.14 in the top 250 of IMDB this is a must watch.

More info in Previous cam from CAMERA

“No Country for Old Men” is a mesmerizing new thriller from Academy Award® winning filmmakers Joel Coen & Ethan Coen, based on the acclaimed novel by Pulitzer Prize winning American master Cormac McCarthy. The time is our own, when rustlers have given way to drug-runners and small towns have become free-fire zones.

The story begins when Llewelyn Moss (Brolin) finds a pickup truck surrounded by a sentry of dead men. A load of heroin and two million dollars in cash are still in the back. When Moss takes the money, he sets off a chain reaction of catastrophic violence that not even the law – in the person of aging, disillusioned Sheriff Bell (Jones) – can contain. As Moss tries to evade his pursuers – in particular a mysterious mastermind who flips coins for human lives (Bardem) – the film simultaneously strips down the American crime drama and broadens its concerns to encompass themes as ancient as the Bible and as bloodily contemporary as this morning’s headlines.

@181 – Unwatchable? What a crybaby noob! Would you like a refund of what you paid? Oh, that’s right. You didn’t pay a damn penny. Here’s a suggestion—-> STFU, get off the internet, and wait for this to appear in your local video store.

Geez, what a whiner. Oh, and would the person who posted the Megaupload links care to post the two missing parts? 13 is two shy of 15 last time I checked.

The 90 minutes of the film were spectacular but the last half an hour of the film was a big anti-climax for me.

The Coen brothers thought they’d be smart and kill the main character in 3/4’s of the film. Its seriously the worst movie going experience I’ve ever experienced. The crappest ending ever.

great movie. acting was top knotch. direction was perfect. too bad the hunter guy gets killed off screen about 95 minutes into the movie and his wife also gets executed in the end off screen. u can tell chigar did it because he checks his shoes for blood when he leaves the house. it was really funny when chigar almost gets killed by some jack ass running a red light. evil wins in the end. tommy lee jones is a punk ass coward. well anyway sorry for the spoiler lol :) )

Although not the best approach, I agree somewhat with 210. Please be forewarned that this movie is pretty good until the last 1/4 or so. If 210 spoiled some from watching this movie, he probalbly did them a favor. My family and I just watched this tonight and were very disappointed with the ending, or lack thereof. Yes, I know, it probably follows the book. So then the books ending sucked, too.
    You’ve been warned.

For what it’s worth, if you have not yet seen “Death Sentence”, I highly recommend that one.

This film seems really really good. The comments are great and the plot sounds even better. But for some reason i just can’t get ‘into’ it. Maybe the watermarks are a bit too intrusive for me, I don’t know, but i just can’t sit and watch it.. just dosn’t pull me in.

So the Grim release is out of sync?
Whats the best version so far?

  43. rasbumr
    December 28th, 2007 | 03:57

the kingben release is slightly out of sync in some places. Many people have noticed this. The aspect ratio is off on some players. But this release is def. better in the way of watermarking. Will wait for another proper.

  44. what release
    December 28th, 2007 | 05:11

    Releases so far:
    -dvdscr-DONE: 1,36 GB (2cd)
    Video: XVID 640×272 23.98fps 1388Kbps
Audio: MPEG Audio Layer 3 48000Hz stereo 198Kbps
blurred horizontal bars throughout the entire movie.

    -dvdscr-GRIM: ~1,1 GB
    Video: XVID 720×480 29.97fps
    Audio: Dolby AC3 48000Hz 5ch 448Kbps
No blurred bars seen during the first 2 minutes.
GRIM has a wrong aspect ratio, but this is easily adjusted using e.g. guliverkli Media Player Classic (height is compressed, so stretch height to fix).
GRIM has delayed audio (maybe -500 ms). I don’t know yet if the asynch is constant or drifting.

    -dvdscr-KingBen (using GRIM-videosource): ~676 MB
    Video: XVID 720×480 ???fps
    Audio: ??? ???Kbps

So far I could directly compare the DONE and the GRIM release. The GRIM release has the more detailed image. Even though the DONE release has a much higher video bitrate, the DONE source or the transcoding process was obviously worse. GRIM is still far away from a dvdrip in video quality, because e.g. less definition in the brighter areas, but GRIM has much more details, better contrast, and somewhat livelier colors.

GRIM audio is fine (5.1), but DONE audio doesn’t seem bad neither (2.0).

I’ll compare KingBen video with GRIM video soon.

  45. what release
    December 28th, 2007 | 05:32

O.K., GRIM and KingBen have identical video. KingBen has mp3 audio, but sounds very similar to GRIM (no noticeable differences to my ears (on a stereo system)).
The GRIM/Kingben video is a mile ahead the DONE video. Kingben has fixed some of GRIMs sync issues. I haven’t seen the entire movie yet (only the first three minutes so far), so I can’t tell you yet.

KingBen is NOT a KVCD, thank god. (KVCD is mpeg2-video at only a quarter of the native dvd-video resolution).

“No contry for old men 2007 DVDSCR XVid-KingBen (Kingdom release)”

A little more info on the KingBen release:
    - KingBen has exactly the same (so far the best) video stream as the GRIM release
    - but audio is mp3(2.0)@128kbit instead of AC3(5.1)@448kbit
    - luckily audio is pretty much in sync; at least until 55min 32sec, that’s where I am now).

    Video: XVID 720×480 29.97fps 640Kbps
Audio: MPEG Audio Layer 3 48000Hz stereo 128Kbps

It is available e.g. on mininova and at rapidshare (see comment #243 Kombucha)

    IN ALL HONESTY….

The only thing missing from the conclusion of this film was a French mime wiping the tears from his eyes as his balloons drifted away.

The ending made it more of a think piece or topic of cinematic/philosophical discussion rather than an enjoyable film.

(First time I’ve ever posted a comment like that)

any subtitles for this movie except the arabic ones? anybody knows?

  65. good film
    December 29th, 2007 | 14:12

At least every second of those complaining about this film’s end are monkeys that were fed hollywood standard procedure all their waking life.

Now, when by pure chance they stumble upon this piece of cinematic art, they just don’t know what to make of it. They expect the movie to end with a shootout, an explosion, some smart hero sipping champagne in his sunny beach hideout, a reunited couple kissing inmidst scattered banknotes, just something they have seen before.

But not this old man in sluggish conversation with that old woman … what’s that dream? …

btw the KingBen release is totally enjoyable (better than the DONE- and better than the original GRIM release). No audio synchronicity issues here (played with the guliverkli Media Player Classic on Winxp).

  67. nosubs butscript
    December 29th, 2007 | 19:12

    @271 thorquad:

There are no subs that I know of, but there is a script in PDF format available (~120 faxed pages (bitmaps), sparsely printed, 918 KByte file).
This script helped me understand these few lines of hard-to-understand dialogue.

You’ll find the PDF via a link that appeared earlier in this thread – I only don’t know which it was. The link to the pdf was on a page that is linked to somewhere in this thread. I have just browsed through the links, but I don’t recall which is the right one. Maybe someone here still remembers.

  68. Exaltation
    December 29th, 2007 | 19:42

I agree that the language is HARD to understand. No subs means you won’t understand most of the movie. Redneck language plus quiet voices. I’m sure he killed that woman at the end. But the main guy – i’m not sure if he was killed. I never seen the body. Or was i sleeping and didn’t see that part?

  69. Exaltation
    December 29th, 2007 | 19:45

2 more things. The movie was just OK and the blurred watermark is a pain in the ass. Sorry.

  70. Spoiler Warning
    December 29th, 2007 | 22:35

    @273 Exaltation:

SPOILER WARNING! SPOILER WARNING! SPOILER WARNING!
SPOILER WARNING! SPOILER WARNING! SPOILER WARNING!

    (from the PDF-script:)
    . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – .
    SHERIFF BELL, (APPROACHING THE MOTEL)

Sheriff Bell (Tommy Lee-Jones) arrives (at the motel, at the entrance of Moss’ room). Moss (the guy that found the pick-up cars along with the money, the ‘product’, and the dead mexicans) is face-up, mostly inside the room. The new gunbag is next to him. The gun is in his hand. He is still.

    MOTEL
Night. The entrance is blocked by police vehicles.

Carla Jean (Moss’ wife) is advancing slowly toward Sheriff Bell, taking in the scene.

    Sheriff Bell steps toward her.

Her eyes track his hand as he raises it to his hat. He takes it off.

    -Bell:
    Carla Jean…

    -Carla Jean:
    No.

    HOSPITAL / MORGUE
Looking down a long corridor flanked by a wall of stainless steel drawers (for corpses). At the far end stands Bell, hat in hand, staring down into an open drawer (presumably with a corpse on it, but the body is invisible, shaded by a sheet of green hospital cloth) just in front of him.
    . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – . – .

So, though even we don’t know for sure, Moss is probably dead. But we can wonder how the story will develop further if Moss is still alive. Will Moss be happy?

Since Fargo, the first Coen movie that I have seen, I like these movies for how they portrait greed and violence, and caretaking, as integral parts of life. How people are driven by what is happening, how people drive what is about to happen. How life continues after all – for those that survive. For those that are unaffected – so far. The absurdity of if. The boy who doesn’t want to take money in return for his shirt, after Anton Chigurs accident. The frat boys at the border, that demand ridiculously much money off the bleeding, stumbling Moss. And even more money for an half-empty bottle of beer. Carla Jean, how she courageously refuses to play the psychopath Chigur’s mindgame of transferring his responsibility for deciding if he’s going to shoot her to a tossed coin. There is some sort of morale to it.

If you like this film but haven’t seen Fargo (1996, I believe), then watch Fargo.

Maddog that version is absolutely brilliant, it’s dvdr quality, not like all the other lame scene dvdscreeners, this one actually has dvd quality. About the aspect ratio it’s slightly cropped on both sides compared to Done version but it also shows a lot more on both the top and bottom, so I guess this is how the coen brothers want their movie in video.

here are some screens so you can decide for yourself:
http://www.imagefap.com/gallery.php?gid=948437 (the done has some nasty blurs and washed out colors and bad compressing, horrible detail, all in all Nolgtron release kicks ass, it’s basically a dvdrip, actually better than most “scene” dvdrip, it actually makes the scene look pretty pathetic)

Don’t be a fool get this release: http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3951747/No_Country_For_Old_Men_DVDSCR

After having read a few reviews about how people thought the role for Tommy Lee Jones was going to set his career on a whole new path, I find it difficult to believe.

Regardless of how well/poorly he acted, he had no purpose in the film.

    Movie 1.5/10

Pretentious people will say they loved this film, yes, just to feel intellectual and accepted amongst such groups of people who must always enjoy and speak highly of certain films just because they’re critically acclaimed. =)

    But it is still excellent.
Reason for recoding . To play on dvix player
