Nintendo new #1 in console sales
Nintendo displaced Sony as the leader of video game sales this past quarter said a new market report published on Tuesday. According to iSuppli, combined game sales of both Wii and DS totaled US$1.2 billion dollars during the third quarter of 2007, up 31 percent from the second quarter of this year and more than double the amount sold a year prior. By comparison, combined PS3, PS2, and PSP game sales totaled $1 billion for the same period while Microsoft reached $318 million in total Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 games sales.
The news marks the first time that Nintendo has accomplished the feat since first being displaced by Sony in the mid nineties with the release of the original and much more popular PlayStation 1 when compared to the Nintendo 64. Nintendo is expected to maintain its lead as it ships about 200 additional titles by the end of the year, bringing the number of games to more than 350, many from outside publishers, iSuppli analyst David Carnevale said. In addition, game sales could get a further boost by the expected introduction of a new flagship title for the Wii, called Wii Fit. The game encourages players to engage in full-body exercises using Wii Balance Boards, performing activities including yoga, push-ups, aerobics, and stretching.

I’ve all 3 consoles. The 360 currently has the best online gameplay, the Wii is a good ‘party’ console, but the PS3 is rapidly catching up. Plus M$ suck a$$. I’d go with Sony if I HAD to make a choice.

It’s all about the games and the PS3 as of yet don’t have any.
i’ll stick to my big boy console thanks, tried the kiddie console for 3 months and it got old. PS3 is getting some good titles and cant wait for MGS4
i vote for sony, anyway i do not want to jump before the tv with a remote, cause its looks stupid
@dam – M$ banned my console even though it hadn’t been altered in any way, then refused to even look at it. Sony have yet to f*ck me over. So Sony win my vote.
I’d loved to get a Wii, because of the Mario, Zelda, and Metroid games and it is really a game system (ie no DVD, HD, or Blu-Ray player).
But still X-Next sells more games:

I dont have any numbers but all my friends are in their 30’s and late 20’s and they play wii. Why, well we grew up on Nintendo. I would venture to guess most PS3 and xbox gamers are highschool/college age. Playing xbox live I constantly hear little boys that sound like girls that cant be more then 10.

i dont have a PS3 all the current games really sucks.
but i think PS3 will jump back up when final fantasy, silent hill, or resident evil is release.
i will buy a PS3 for 2x its MSRP if i had to just to play final fantasy.

I have bothe a Wii and a 360, but sony is bawls and will never recover from there blunder called the ps3.
4 is in a idiot. This system is rediculously good and will continue to soar in sales. XBox sucks mad nuts, any computer can do what it can do but 10 times better. PS3 looks ok but there are no titles worth playing as of now, and some games LAG. Who the f@!# wants to buy a console that lags?

yay nintendo! good for them. you have to admit; the Wii is brilliant. nintendo is WAY head of everyone else in terms of marketing and common sense. $600 for a console. please, i think not. the thing that gets people about the Wii is that it’s so interactive, you don’t get that with the other consoles.

yeah, ive loved nintendo ever since my first experience playing on a NES. just getting stuck in to metroid prime, awesome game, recomended to any wii owner
good to hear Nintendo is doing well with the piss. the rise is sales would be its price. despite all the fanboys, for the younger gamers parents would most likely buy the piss for the simple reason that it is atleast 200-400 AU dollars cheaper then the PS3and the 360. my housemate has a ps3 and its good but still $980 at the time for it still seems excessive for a console.
and also it seems like there will be some decent adult games for the piss so hopefully nintendo will kill its kiddy only image which it has suffered in the past 10 years!
Wii is great and a parent with children, having played games for 25 years at least can now enjoy great games with my children.

PS3 is same games with prettier pictures, Nintendo = innovation and makes playing other consoles feel old.

Zelda, Mario, Metroid, beat most of the other so called next generation titles and the graphics is even pretty good on the Wii.
But it is all about game play and design.
Although I will miss MGS and Final Fantasy, WE enjoy new content with Wii.
