The Firefox plugin Fasterfox (from http://fasterfox.mozdev.org/ ) does nearly the same things (without the voodoo), plus it stops the time it needs to load each page in the status bar.

You guys should really expand your ‘How-To Help’ section, and these the type of things you should include.

Regarding the speed-settings you can also use an extension called fasterfox, it work’s great.

network.http.proxy.pipelining-thingie is voodoo. It is an experimental feature and according to Mozilla’s website “is unfortunately not well supported by some web servers and proxies”, so your mileage will vary. Setting up the maxrequests to something big would just swamp the server, fortunately putting it above 8 does nothing, as HTTP 1.1 specs limit it to 8. Otherwise something like 30 would bring down webservers quite quickly.

nglayout.initialpaint.delay is also voodoo, as one of the main developers point out: “setting the initial paint delay at zero, may get you some content on the screen faster, but itâ€™s worth noting that it will dramatically slow down the time it takes the entire page to display.”

Most of these tips & tricks are available somewhere in mozilla’s homepage with helpful commentary on just exactly what you’re tuning.

Seeing as since virtually the first ever release of firefox you have had to tweak it to get it faster etc by now you’d of thought they would of set it like that as default?

Im mean why would you release as default using loads of ram and being sluggish? Wheres the logic in that?
