NewsMan Pro v2.7.0.6 RETAIL-TE
I know alot of people around here use newsgroups to download their content, this is aimed at them. Here we have an alternative to the normal newsreaders/binary grabbers, which is probably no different to many of the other apps out there, but could be worth a try…
NewsMan Pro is a state of the art Usenet newsreader supporting the browsing and reading of text messages posted to Usenet newsgroups as well as full support for binary newsgroup downloading.
Program Features:
- Clean, easy to use interface
- Full support for text and binary newsgroups
- Multiple Server Support
- Full support for NZB files
- Robust multi-threaded architecture

Release Name: NewsMan.Pro.v2.7.0.6.RETAIL-TE
Size: 5.00mb
Homepage - NFO - Torrent (Soon)

Cool, thanks!
I have always wanted to know if there are any free NZB servers to use and not only payed ones, and also are the NZB downloads better than torrent ones and why? 10x in advance.
Cool.. now if I can just fine a site with some news server login details I’d be a happy guy
Just try a free trial at xlned.com, newsgroups are always fast speeds that’s just the best thing.
@#2: there are only a few free newsservers out there, some of which require you to register for free to get a certain amount of free GBs or days to test the service and most are hammered to death from people that want to leech for free. so don’t bother using usenet if you don’t pay for it.
There are a lot of advantages over torrents:
- you don’t have to upload, you can, but you don’t have to, so no one can sue you for distributing material that you don’t owe the rights for
- you can max out your connection speed easily
- some usenet providers have SSL
- you don’t have to rely on the number of seeds a torrent has, only thing that matters is the retention time of your NSP
- you are not in a torrent swarm so no one can log your IP and sue you
& many more..
btw: nothing beats Newsbin Pro!
Use sabNZBD much better and free program
I prefer GrabIt, its free too: http://www.shemes.com/
My mates getting 20mb broadband on Saturday, will he be able to get full speeds from rapidshare downloads?

@9 yep
Here’s the NZB:

Another contender for a FREE newsgroup client is Alt-Binz, uses less resources than NewsBin Pro, automatically downloads of required PARS, extracts, deletes file after extraction etc
Alt.Binz 0.25.0 is the last release available to public. It’s freeware. You can use it for free as long as you like.
http://www.altbinz.com/index.php?page=downloadz
3 Day UNLIMITED downloads trial available here:
http://member.hitnews.eu/signup.php
On this page, just select the English option under Language, only requires a valid email address, no Credit/Debit Cards needed.
I use Alt.Binz, i will give this a try.
Thanks RLSLOG!
I only use newzbin…..but what are some other sites sites to use. They don’t have to be free either. I’m just trying to find a site that post things a little faster than newzbin.
A good NZB index site you could try is:
http://www.nzbmatrix.com
Thx for the program
but imho alt.binz is the best prog
News groups are fantastic. If you can find it you can have it beacause you don’t have to worry about seeders. It is much faster than torrentz because most worthy newsgroups use max bandwidth. you can dl a 700Mb movie in about 10 min. If you only dl using torrents you will be lost at first. But once you get the hang of it you will find that there are much more options in content. All the free groups suck, so don’t bother. But they are not that expensive so give it a try if you are Curious
now i use grabit (free) but i think i will give this a try..
thnx
Anyone Got An Extra Megaupload Premium Account So I Can Download A Few Files
@ 9u3rk
Alt.binz is also very handy it unpacks all the rars automatic so when its is finished u can imediatly use what u downloaden
btw for nzb i use binsearch.info (most retention and free :))
sadly, most free servers (like the one from my ISP) don’t support SSL
@ spanky if you learn to use usenet properly then you dont need to wait for them to be posted. but you also take the risk of downloading a fake or crappy file. youre prolly one of these people that wants everything done for them instead of trying to do it yourself
i <3 giganews… its pricey though $25/month… but max dl speed on ool… 10gb 1080p stuff in 4 hours!
go to http://www.gangstas-hideout.com/index.php? they will help you with anything modem ,speedup, advice and a laugh for free!

why can’t I post messages anymore?
you will need server login details to use this? any one know any good ones????
why pay for free stuff pvt tracker torrents and rapidshare is kewl anyways
@Stimpy or anyone knowledgable
I’m willing to learn how to use it properly, i’m not lazy at all. I just learned to use what’s on newzbin and notthing more. Can you link me to any tutorials that show how to really use it.
Thanks,
I have used a lot of newsreaders but so far Alt.Binz is the best one. Free, and easy. Does all the work for you. Forte Agent is also cool if you know what or where you are going. nzbmatrix.com nzbs.org tvnzb.com are cool places for nzb’s
I can also recommend usenetserver.com, only $14.95 a month and UNLIMITED download. SSL and 10 connections. Only drawback is 102 days retention. Very fast and good service.
#17 is right. http://www.binsearch.info is the best search/NZB creator out there….
Cheers!
Those ‘free usenet’ accounts are text-based only (no binaries). In order to get any benefit from this program (which is the least intuitive of all the readers currently available), you’ll need to pay a provider for access.
Personally, i prefer grabit, nice simple, easy to set up. does all the par’ing and unraring for you, nice and simple XD, works with multipul servers too.
If i was new to usenet, then i would probably check this out, however having looked around, already decided i like Grabbit most XD
I use the 1st beta of Newsleecher, I must suck or something?
USE NEWS LEECHER
Its $19 a year and has a similar search interface to say Emule. It will find whatever is out there and then you simply click what you want.
All the other require you to manually search for everything.
@ $19 a year, frig that is nothing! If you are too much of a jew to buy it then so be it.
Can NewsMan Pro display images within the program like Xnews? I download a lot of porn pics and I’m looking for something where I can preview the index pics without having to save and then launch and external viewer.
I agree with #38, Newsleecher right now seems to be the best thing out there.
If you want to you can pay for Supersearch which lets you search ALL groups for the last 200 days, so if you miss part of a post you can search for the rest.
You can also grab files that are posted in the “wrong group”
It’s worth the actual $$$, never miss a post again
Rapid link:
http://rapidshare.com/files/85995753/NewsMan.2706.rar
But with the news leech you have unlimited downloads for 19usd year?
So where’s the deal? Because others are like 100usd year.
@42 - $19 is the Newsleecher registration fee, you get free updates for a year. Usenet access requires a seperate fee.
@ spanky using newzbin is a good start but try to look for stuff that hasnt been listed by using the drop down box and search usenet raw also a good tuturial is here
http://www.slyck.com/ng.php?page=6
i will never understand why people pay for downloading stuff they can get for free,i have a 8mbit connection, only use torrent and i have a really hard time on getting up to date on everything i download…how u people manage to watch very movie and play every game,is a mystery to me…oh, and believe me, i get everything interesting to me out there, and never more then 24h after released….but thats just me, i have a life.
I keep going back to Grabit for binaries because it’s such a simple program. I use the free version. The paid just lets you perform more searches, but I use Newzleech.com for simple searching.
Xnews is fine for all else usenet
Giganews is expensive for unlimited secure usenet access, but I can download a 700mb file in 15 minutes or less any time of day. I suppose there’s several others that are cheaper that offer the same?
The only problem I have with usenet downloads is an occasional broken file that I’m too lazy to repair (and I don’t have to worry about bandwidth limits).
“Newsman Pro comes with the Advantage Database Server (ADS) as the built-in database engine. This engine functions quite well for text newsgroups and smaller binary groups. It is NOT designed to handle the large volumes of data that would be processed in a binary newsgroup such as alt.binaries.sounds.mp3 or groups that are even larger. If you want to use Newsman Pro as a binary downloader, we highly recommend that you download MySQL or use Microsoft© SQL Server. MySQL is available using the links at the top of this page, while Microsoft© SQL Server is available directly from Microsoft. When processing headers, MySQL and SQL Server are approximately 1000 times faster than ADS. They are also about 3 times faster for other general purposes such as browsing messages and downloading articles.”
nzbomatic is ok for free
http://www.news.astraweb.com/ 120 days and growing 39 for 3 months no limits 20 connections it rocks!
http://www.iusenet.com hant tried yet but 10 a month unlimited 110 days connections ?
What you mean the others require you to search manually. Isn’t that the same method to search through newsleecher’s supersearch.
i use newsbin pro, is it better than that?
easynews $10 for 10gb is the service i use, mainly for the search, then i use my isp’s newsgroups (virgin uk) to get most the stuff. if ur isp provides a.b.movies.divx and a.b.warez.ibm-pc.0-day ur sorted.
don’t get me wrong private trackers are great too, newsgroups don’t always have the niche stuff u need, but if ur isp provides binaries use it!!

I have yet to find Usenet instructions that make any sense. It seems that you have to manually hunt down each and every one of the possibly thousands of pieces to get a complete file, and the pieces may have different formats within the same file. I’ve read several FAQs, but the whole process seems way complicated compared to BT. I just subscribed to Agent and Newsguy, but they’re both confusing; it’s easy to read postings, but putting together complete files is another story. If anyone has a link to instructions that may be easier for an oldtime BT user, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!
Grabit + http://www.maximumusenet.com = the win for me
grabit is a nice and easy program to dl and max has great speeds and its only like 12 bucks for unlimited
I get 500kb easy takes me no time to dl movies or games.
usenet is faster and so easy. use a search like newzleech.com and bam you got the file. if a file is corrupt you use the .par files and it fixes them. much easier then re-dling the file from somewhere else.
I tried it and hated it. Alt.Binz is the BEST out there.
@Spanky and @mike rodot
A tutorial for you
http://www.binaries4all.com/beginners/
How is that company’s with newsservers farms can sell illegal stuff, and not be sued?
While torrent site who just post links are threatened.
RIAA and MPAA can’t touch it because it’s the backbone of the internet
@love2help
@love2help
Many thanks! I am reading through it now.
@45
I used to think like that, but it’s so much easier with usenet. I just buy a block account from usenet-news.net where you get 300GB for $66, no time limit on it, bought it last year will last me a good few more months aswel
.
No worrying about ratios like I did with torrents, (public trackers too slow to use) and now downloading maxes out my connection. Works out at 22 cents per gigabyte, which is nothing if you have a job.
And btw AltBinz is the best newsreader.
mike rodot, another good guide I used is http://www.slyck.com/ng.php
Some comments and advice…
Newsgroups are good because downloads from them are virtually untraceable. Sure, it could be done, but the companies who provide newsgroup access aren’t in the business of selling out their customers. The only other way would be if the RIAA/MPAA got a court order to look at the logs and with dozens if not hundreds of Usenet providers, they’d have quite a job on their hands. They also allow you to directly communicate with the uploader of a file, request help, ask questions, make requests, etc.
No, newsgroups aren’t as easy to use as P2P networks, but they’re not THAT difficult when you understand how they work. First, you need to understand that newsgroups were never meant to carry files and doing so is basically a kludge. The files are encoded to something the newsgroups will accept, then decoded on the other end. If this wasn’t done, the files would be mangled by the posting process. Most servers have a limit to the size of each individual post, so all posting software will split the files up into smaller parts, which are then re-assembled by the downloader. In any modern program, this happens automatically, so you only need to worry about files and not separate parts.
Large files are split into smaller files, usually with Rar, to make them easier to work with. Otherwise your newsreader would need to decode 1,400+ parts for a 700MB file. By downloading 48-50 Rar files, it makes it much easier to handle. The Rar files are then unpacked to get the original file. Of course, some parts may go missing since Usenet is made up of a serious of separate servers that talk to each other and TRY to pass along everything. This is where Par2 files come in. They can replace missing or bad parts of a file, provided that the poster included enough Par2 blocks. If not, a polite request for additional blocks is often honored.
As for finding all the individual parts, many modern programs have the option to group files together based on the subject line so that each post appears as a single line in the list. If not, you can always use a search site like Binsearch. They usually, but not always, group all the files of a post together as a collection. Or you’ll see 2-3 collections from the same auther, one has the Rar files, one has the Par2 files, one has the subs, etc. You just tag the ones you want, create an NZB file, load it into your program of choice and it downloads whatever you’ve selected from whatever server you entered the logon details for.
Newsreaders can typically be divided into two types; Text oriented and binary downloaders. Most do a little of both, but generally a program will specialize in one or the other. I like Agent for reading the text groups and browsing binary ones, and Binary News Reaper 2 for downloading with NZB files. Actually, I should say that I like BNR2’s features, the program itself is buggy and sometimes just stops working.
Many first time usenet users are tempted to use Outlook Express since they already have it on their system. People with Vista may have Windows Mail or Windows Mail Live. DON’T! You might think “I’ll just use it to take a look at what the newsgroups have to offer.” DON’T! Despite what MS might claim, these programs are not newsreaders. They have never been newsreaders. They will never be newsreaders. They are email programs that were kludged to work with newsgroups. They have so many limitations compared to modern newsreaders, especially for binary downloading, that they’re like using a pencil and paper compared to a word processor. If you use them to go on the newsgroups, you will be met with derision by most other users because almost all the problems you will experience will be caused by their lack of features.
Also, occasionally in the newsgroups, you might see people complaining about the use of an encoding method known as “yEnc”. Despite it having been in use for years now and working quite well, there are still a few hard-core fanatics who will claim that it doesn’t work properly, that it carries spyware/viruses, that it will kill your dog, etc. Ignore these idiots. I try not to be judgemental, but these people are idiots who ignore established facts and cling to outdated programs that haven’t been updated in years. Thankfully, they seem to be just about extinct now.
Read the Slyck guide linked to by a couple users above. It has more detailed explanations, comparison of newsreaders and news providers and links to all the software you need.
