Today iND brings us the highly anticipated New Super Mario Bros. If you are a Wii owner I am sure you have been waiting for this game and here it is so you can enjoy it over the weekend. Unfortunately for the NTSC owners, this is the PAL version but hopefully the NTSC version will be released soon. “Super New Mario Bros Wii” release contains a certain error, so far we do not know if the dump is bad or a new protection.
Fact is:
Modchip: It works for about 3 minutes into the game
Backup Launcher (NeoGamma or Softchip): Just like with modchip.
USB Loader: Error to execute it.
At the moment, there is no solution for this error!

After all this crap, i finally start uploading the full one and burnt it also.
Started playing it and about 10mins in it gives read errors……… SORRY TO EVERYONE THAT SAID IT WASN’T BAD MEDIA, i believe you and say this.
There’s nothign wrong with teh uploaded one, it has no updates on the disc but thats not the cause of the issues.
PAL MODCHIP USERS = Works but fails at random places
SOFTMOD USERS = NOT WORKING
I myself have a chip and used neogamma which usually throws any errors up that you guys would get, i guess the chip over wrote that.
So what does this mean?
Nothing, people with mods can play it and save very often, people with softmods only, it wont work yet at all, im very sorry but at least it got uploaded.
Looks like i wont be returning the 100 dollar game just yet
P.s, As i have found all this out, I myself will not be uploading 4gb of a file it would take forever and it wont solve anything as the 100% copy still does these errors.

confirmed. didn’t work on wii US 4.1 (soft modded) with USB loader and all versions of gamma. tried every setting. maybe ntsc version thats out in a few weeks will work? I hope someone finds a fix for this ,been waiting for this game for a long time.

I have received my AU PAL retail copy on Friday (i work in a retail store). I dumped it, brick-blocked it, burned it on to TY dvd-r @ 2.4 speed. My kids have played it all weekend, and not a problem. So Nintendo aren’t doing anything shifty as few people have thought.

Also tried it on D2nothing with solderless DriveKey, and it seemed to work fine.
But I can confirm that two soft-modded consoles have not been able to play it

my uploads dont get counted and i get 160gig of d/l’s. as for speed, we arent too bad… my avg is 800kB/s up is ~140kB/s

The usenet one is AU PAL scrubbed. works for about 5-10 minutes then gives error. I am running a NTSC Wii 3.1US with ARGON mod chip firmware 1.3 (13 wire route). I brick blocked it and changed region from PAL to NTSC. I guess we just have to wait.
I’m working on a Patch for it, but still their are some Problems to solve. I can’t promise anything, so I hope their are other People working on it. As far as I can say, the Program-Code was infected with a Copyright Protection, which checks on beginning and in different intervals for little Wii helpers.

uploadmaster has cracked the game he has removed the protection and got to all the levels he had to redo the code on the iso and fixed the code check it works on pal or ntsc 1080p he will be uploading it onto the net tommorow and release the password on friday he has spent 6 hours fixing the bug so if u want the cracked iso u have to google for uploadmaster and download it when it get posted tommorow

format your usb stick with ” WBFS Manager 3.0″
load the iso on the usb using WBFS Manager 3.0 it will reduce it size to 360 megs.
then you need to patch your wii “ios” 53,60 & 70 with Dopios program ios 53 is the game ios so you need specially that one.
use UsbloaderGX or Wiiflow loader to play (i specially like wiiflow very nice)
NOTE: if you have preloader 3.0 and Waninkoko 4.2 Firmware Update just truca patch iso 53 and ios 60,just dont patch ios 70 with Dopios because is allready patched with a newer one so if you persist it will probably semi-brick your wii if that happens you can still access homebrew Channel via preloader,to recover system menu just uninstall and reinstall preloader and it will fix ios 70 and fix the problem.

@72 i did that on a Softmoded wii wich you can do with Zelda or Bannerbomb hack (bannerbomb is easier)
Wiikey 1 and 2 will get an Update soon, so that you can play NSMB without any Softmods!
Did not want to go down the softmod route as I too was happy with just having a hardmod chip, but to be honest now that i took the time to install Homebrew using the bannerbomb hack and neogamma 7 so that I could use the usb loader bit I’m over the moon as is my partner..
Not only have I now got the Mario to work which is a real blast from the past but for the hell of it i loaded a few more games on the HDD that I have now connected to the Wii via the USB and hey presto they work as well, even the Jillian Michaels 2010 which i could not get to work via disc before now.! (My partner is very happy about that)
Thinking of all the disc burns I will save now just by transfering the files to the HDD and running up from there and no changing of discs for each game evn better.!
Hang in there people and hard mods alike, it’s worth the patience.!
One very important point which has had me pulling my hair out, whats left of it these last few days, If you are using a HDD via the USB port make sure you use the bottom one and not the top one.! Thats the left one if you have your Wii standing up and not the right one.!

When adding this to my WBFS partition it only shows as 0.35gb – this is incorrect as the iso is 4.7gb in size.
anyone else experiencing this?

@80 CC maybe you figure it out allready but that size is correct. a dvd is full of “dummy files” Game data for this game is 350 megs wich is what the WBFS is taking out from the iso. just go ahead add it to your usb stick and load/Play it with wiiflow or Usb loaderGX..
OK, since there are no decisive answers here…I have a Wiikey v1, HBC and everything installed…What do I need to do if I want to play this game?

be aware that you need to have the latest version of wiiflow or UsbloaderGX in order to play (google it) & ios 53 Trucha patched because that one is the ios that this game use to run..
so far is imposible to play from a disc..
Oh…well that’s a shame. I’m on GBAtemp now and loads of different things are floating around, and I’m confused. I only found out about this today, so…I don’t have a USB HDD or anything so I don’t believe I can run Wiiflow, can I?

hey do you have your wii hacked? if not just check wich firmware you have by goin into the wii menu then google for banerbomb. if you have it hacked then just download and install wiiflow using Homebrew chanel or wad manager.
get a really cheap usbstick around $10-$15 dollars on waltmart at least 1 gig capacity,copy the game into the usb stick using your computer and this program “WBFS Manager 3.0″
when you done doing that just plug the usb stick on the back of your wii and voila ENJOY
Wiikey 1 and 2 will get an Update next Week.

I’ve just got it working, and here’s how I did it:
I updated to 4.1
HBC and everything has to be installed
Get this ( http://www.mediafire.com/?nkotmjxzwk5 ) and put it in a folder on my SD card sd\Codes\file in here
Then get GeckoOS 1.9 or whatever the latest version is
Get the image (I used an untouched version with the update partition removed)
Burn it at a slow speed (I always use 4x)
Go to Config Options in Gecko and enable cheats and select save
Launch the game
Enjoy!
Many others have done this and it might work with other chips too besides the Wiikey v1 that I have. Someone else told me the method.
people with Mod-Chips should just wait for the Update! Everyone now making a softmod now, will get problems later! Bricked-Wii, old IOS cause to late Updated etc. so just be patient and wait a bit.

@97: Their is NO way to FIX the ISO to work. You have to wait for an Update of Wiikey or softmod your Wii.

this one works fine (super mario) ws_nsmb_pal_multi5 (about 300mb, scrubbed version thru 1.4)played for over 2 hours, just installed cios14, neogamma 6, and burnt very slowly with imgburner at 4x on dvd-r. used to get black screen with an error msg asking to remove disc. ran neogamma ver.6 and inserted dvd, played absolutely fine for well over 2 hours.
no need for patch.
using a modded wii with wiikey 2. i found that it didnt work with isoburner, when it did, it timed out after 5-10 minutes.

FlatMii has recieved an update as the first modchip, to support New Super Mario Bros Wii.

This game DOES work off a USB drive…mine us USB with SD card in it so I assume SD works too.
I took the fixed iso (4.37GB) and added it to a SD card (which was wbfs formatted or whatever…using wbfs manager 3.0) When the program copies it over it is only 380MB or something like that on the SD card.
I downloaded NeoGamma8beta12.wad and installed that via. wad manager. And voila…I loaded it with the new neogamma channel via usb. No DVD needed.
Thing is you need a new SD card to format…and I don’t know if you can put multiple games on one card??? Anyone know?
Also, I was wondering if the same WFBS method would work on a DVD? That would be cheaper!

DriveKey got as the Second Mod-Chip an Update

Wiikey Development is going very slow! The Wiikey will get an Update after DriveKey Update is finished. At Moment most Mod-Chip Teams wait for a Standard to Read the BCA Code in the ISO File.
But don’t worry, the update will come and you will be able to play all Games with this Protection. But you guys have to wait till the WiiKey/DriveKey Team is ready to push out a public Beta of a BCA Ripper and a FW Update.
I got Informations that Nintendo will push an Update in one of the next big Release, which will destroy all Softmods and have a special encrypted Software(Process running all the Time in background, not to stop), blocking all future Softmods on your Wii. The FW is called 4.9.465Kalm and will be published as 5.0. This Update will NOT have any effect on most Mod-Chips (Tested on Wiikey/FlatMii/Wasabi).
Update for Wiikey 2 will come around 20 December 2009!

@Anon and Outsider: Yes Wiikey 1 will get an Update, BUT this update will just work with New Super Mario Brothers (not with future Games with this Protection). Wiikey 2 can play all future games with this BCA-Protection (adding BCA Code with special Program)

as you may noticed, the d2pro is not supported anymore. Its open source, so I think that their will be an update, but much after WK Update, as the D2pro-Project will check how the Wiikey Team worked the Fix out. Don’t expect it before march 2010. WK updates are not compatible anymore to D2Pro FW’s.

@henke1: Yes, the fusion will work out of the Box with all “BCA-Games”. But let me give you an advice, don’t buy it! Wiikey,DriveKey,D2pro..all the same Company, why u should support people which don’t care about long-time customers. I recommend you d2sun.com, flatmii.com, wode-jukebox.com. All this companies have different Wii Mod-Chip solutions for your Wii and they showed strong support and stay even in touch with their customers over forums etc. !

All of them! WODE even HDD and DVD’s.
Don’t forget, WODE is expensive, but you get really a great piece of hardware. If you don’t want to pay so much money, get a flatmii or a d2sun solution, they are great too.
But how does d2sun support dvd disc when u put in the hdd were the hdd is? i think its going to be wode or d2sun. Is there any of them that can use emulators? or play downloaded vc games?
