New Skype pricing policy and connection fee

The most popular solution for online calls, Skype, experiences a wave of changes after few months. SkypePro subscribers will now be charged a connection fee of €0.039 to place a domestic call to a landline, regardless of the length of the call. Stefan Oberg, general manager of Skype Telecoms, said that the plan was based on the success of subscription-based programmes in the US and the UK. The connection fee rate does not cover calls to mobile phones, which will still use the SkypeOut per-minute pricing plan.

The company said that its subscription services in the US and UK will not include connection fees. Computer-to-computer calls will also continue to be free. Skype said that per-minute rates for several countries have also been reduced. Calls to the Czech Republic, Hungary, Israel, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Alaska and Hawaii will all cost €0.017 per minute for users subscribing to SkypeOut. I envy all these people living in the States who may call unlimited for fixed monthly/annually fee with Skype – I’m sure many people would appreciate such a service here in old good Europe…

Some day some one’s gona exploit the website, create a portal using SSH, write a java based program to take all this crap in as a GUI & steal free connection.

rooh why dont you try uncapping your ADSL modem; or, add more MAC address’s to your current one to increase your pipeline speed. You could end up with 8 MB connection !

*you should just see the gleam in my eyes* and then watch me do that ape-scratching-the-head thing cause i have no idea what ur talking about. UUUUH but 8mbps you say…. temme more temme more!!!!!
Funny i just downloaded the software called CfosSpeed which is supposed to make ur connection faster or something, all it did was just prioritize my traffic! Not too bad a deal but not what i was hoping for :\
Ok on a more serious note, im not computer illiterate, but how exactly does one go about uncapping a modem? i thought i was cool when i managed to change the password and now the Customer Care guys cant just “help” me change settings without telling me what to do :D jippie :D
    Kudos TripleT

*Bleah* where’d the light at the end of the tunnel go?? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO………….

Quote: “Despite all protests to the contrary, the myth or rumor or hint of uncapping still persists and tutorials on “how to uncap a cable modem” are abundant on the Internet.”

Goddamn google, such a hope buster! See i know there was some truth in “ignorance being bliss”, atleast i would have been happy all of tonight and forgotten about it by tomorrow! Schise!

Anyone know how to remove that option in firefox where u right click a selection and u have the option to “Search google for ___”. Its so darn tempting. Schise nokmal!

    Cheers.

    Hey Martin,

    MfG

Personally I think ADSL beat cable anyday there are many articles and information about this on the internet, you can see a few articles on this site that backs up ADSL being better than Cable
