Releaselog

New server for Releaselog!

I’ve already mentioned this earlier this week but it’s official now: I’ve bought a new server for Releaselog. The main reason was simple, the old one couldn’t handle the load in the peak hours and it sometimes resulted in the slow loading and other unpleasant issues. The new horsepower should solve all these problems. I’ve decided for Core 2 Duo with few gigs of RAM and some Seagate drive.

This change also affected NewTorrents.info, which was moved to another machine. In order to view the new, actual version of NewTorrents, you will have to wait for DNS update. It may take several hours, in case of stupid ISP also few days. If you want to bypass this waiting, I suggest editing your host file. You can find it in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc. Just open this file in notepad and add these two lines in it:

89.185.228.120 newtorrents.info
89.185.228.120 www.newtorrents.info

Then save it (no extension), restart your browser, and you should be fine. I hope these new changes will improve your visiting experience from all our sites!

Core2Duo for a server!, are you an idiot, we pay for this as clicks on your adds. Well your english which makes you a joke in itself.
You should have spent a few bob more for a Kentsfield with an 8GB board, no slowdowns and you’d save money in the long run.
I advise you in the future to not be so fucking tight, as you’re making a hell of a lot of money from all the adds on this site, from us, the visitors.

Lol nothing but bitching. Theys guys aren’t making SHIT from the adds, they are paying the hosting costs and upgrade costs with it.

God if it affects you so bad why don’t YOU host the fucking site.

“Well your english which makes you a joke in itself.”

Umm and you are making fun of HIS english? He’s learning English as a second or third language, AS WE SPEAK.

WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR EXCUSE?

Jesus christ do you even realize what you are saying? They are hosting this site and jsut upgraded it FOR YOU THE USERS so you’d have a better experience here and what is your responce?

You call him an idiot and question his english. Go fuck yourself.

And for the record, a site like this can EASILY be run from a high end DESKTOP. Stop talking out your ass.

LOL must luv playing the DEVIL’s advocate… Either that or he or she works in the legal system and luv to be abused. IMO

Martin, good work…. can I contribute anything to the up grade?

Also, how can I get a message to you or the mods about suggestions? There’s a movie call The Secret Lives of Others which I understand is an excellent movie.

yes… fuck all the complaining retards
we appreciate your effort in maintaining these sites rls/nti
and all the european guys’ english is really damn good, actually
they know it much better than millions of american-born rednecks etc.

    March 2nd, 2007 | 23:37

Geee, who’s complaining about english and american’s. Both are english language but different…. redneck is just a person who work’s out in the sun and get’s a red neck… meaning manual labor…. which fits most of the world. Care to take a bite out of that one?

Enough, Martin the span gizmo is working but again how do we communicate to you and rest of board. Can you create a new blog so we (meaning non-admins) can make suggestions and so on?

instead of mucking about with the HOSTS file, why not just use the OpenDNS addresses for your DNS eh?
    OpenDNS.org

All I get at 89.185.228.120 is “Online …” with a white screen, therefore I cannot comment on your new server just yet. I do agree that Core2 Duo isn’t the best choice for a server but who am I to bitch when it’s not my money so it’s not my choice. If you held some kind of fund-raiser ONLY THEN would we be able to have some input as to what hardware you should buy. Right now we should have no say.

@Metaph: Thank You. It sounds like a great idea…don’t know why I haven’t done this sooner. My ISP’s DNS servers suck.

  24. March 3rd, 2007 | 10:52

the site was down till some minutes ago :( what happened??

  25. March 3rd, 2007 | 11:31

there were some more dns changes and initial issues with apache which could cause some downtime for percent of visitors - all should be fine now.

Hey Martin and the rest of the guys at rlslog!

Wanted to take this opportunity to thank you guys for all the hard work. Is there some way I could contribute to the site? donations, tshirts, a postcard?

I’d love to give back to a site which i check at least once an hour and keeps me up to date in the scene.

    cheers!

ps, are you putting up some movie and music scene stuff like you did with the games? that would be great.

    March 3rd, 2007 | 13:16

    Thnx!

  29. March 3rd, 2007 | 13:16

thanks Ben and all others, but it is okey now, we don’t need your money. I still do this mainly for the fun of it and because of pure enthusiasm - I think that everyone who tried to make some website can tell you that this first wave of elan usually leaves you quickly and it’s more like a work then. as i said, take your money and buy something for your girlfriend, we are fine at the moment :)

  30. March 3rd, 2007 | 13:21

im in milan italy, and the site was down for me all yesterday and this morning for me

  31. March 3rd, 2007 | 13:22

btw, you guys should cover HBO releases like The Sopranos, Rome, etc
