Releaselog

New Section

I just wanna show you guys something for the ppl who really don’t like going through posts and not liking a certain type of category. Anyway it’s something basic, the section will show you the top 15 new posts for each category. So if you can’t be stuffed going through all the stuff we post in a day, just take a look there and see everything in one page.

Note: Be patient, the feeds are loaded via my server which is pretty slow. I am going to add the other section soon. If you have a feed reader you won’t have to use this. Also make sure you got JavaScript installed.

At least some1 thinks ’round here.

Brilliant, just brilliant! You solved a lot of problem with just 1 step. That’s called innovation baby. :D

P.S. Didn’t quite get the “you need java” part - looks like an ordinary webpage to me - I can see those post titles under their sexion names & I have no JRE installed. So?

  7. November 23rd, 2008 | 03:44

@6 - Almost everyone have JavaScript installed on their browsers. A few browsers don’t have JavaScript available to them, or portable goods such as PSP, Phones..

    Got it. It’s javascript then.
Tested with my N72 with built-in browser+Opera+Opera mini (all latest) - 100% OK here.

This is seriously one of the best things that had happened to this site. Thanks a lot Vantec for making this for us, also the triple+ movie posts in one works great too.Your a asset to the site. Also Martin is great putting all this together. Thanks a bunch.

    LONG LIVE RLSLOG!

Nice! but what is the difference between this and the RSS (on the right column), which can be easily turned into live bookmarks in Firefox, that we already have ???

    November 23rd, 2008 | 03:57

How about creating a new section, “UNREAD POSTS”. that’ll be helpful.

  12. Poppa!
    November 23rd, 2008 | 03:59

@Amy Is it really that hard to understand? Do you have Firefox for my N72? :)

Maybe you should up the number on the TV section, some days tends to be very busy, it should be enough as it is most days but if you say… push off Heroes with a batch of Documentaries, i’d bet there’d be a few upset people around to whine about it, the site is way more active now than it was a couple of months ago.

It’s a great feature, i will use it either way although i might double check.

Nah! This actually is better than iHateTV. Loads way faster still gives you everything.
I would suggest to Vantec & Martin, why not make the homepage itself around this concept? Navigation will be way faster!

@Poppa! You are missing my point. My question is why we need this since we already have RSS (on the right column) for rlslog. I think most, if not all, browsers can read RSS nowadays. Doesn’t your Opera read RSS? Try pointing your browser to:
    http://www.rlslog.net/category/applications/feed

and see if it reads the feed properly.

I see alot of deleted comments.
Why is it gone now? It was actually a legit helpful idea

    November 23rd, 2008 | 06:22

@Amy, I can understand what you are saying but in order for you to understand I will sipmly request you to widen your perspective. RSS is fine, but The interwebz is no more confined to the PC users now. There are even kichen appliances with a browser to google recipes. There are lots of devices these days that are being used to access this site and this trend will only increase. And many of them does NOT support RSS but has built-in java/javascript support in the browser. So with this tool almost no one will be left out from having updates. So I think RLSLog is liberating itself from the desktop niche and with this becoming more available “on the go”.

  23. November 23rd, 2008 | 06:29

    @21 InFaDeLiTY:

There are two discussions going on, one here and one on the feed page :) i haven’t deleted any messages. Criticism is welcomed :)

Ahh, Vantec I see what I did wrong now and how I ended up in wrong comments…

Anyways, good to see you guys actually do read replies, hopefully you mods will start ridding of spammers and scammers. :D

    November 23rd, 2008 | 06:56

@Life’s Good Do you think everyone is a TBP-groupie or RS-Junkie like you? Don’t think just bcoz YOU have such a narrow POV and FAIL to see the big picture, all of us are loosers like you. Lots of ppl come here 1. for the detailed reviews 2. for the latest updates then comes the DL part after some decision has been made by the reader about what to get.

  29. EqualEyes
    November 23rd, 2008 | 08:52

    Nice idea.
    Further possibilities…
    - split Movies into HD and non-HD, and/or “movies of today” and “movies of yesteryear” (this, in response to the increasing number of Blu-ray releases of older films, where there are indeed some nuggets to be found.
    Just a thought…
    Thanks.

It’s about damn time! People were complaining about the mass of posts (especially the daily TV updates) since the “Mr X” era.

    This’ll do nicely, thanks!

Why does RLSlog keep ripping off other site’s ideas? Anyway, at least give the original people credit for their work, aight?

  34. zarathustra
    November 23rd, 2008 | 11:03

@ ‘Sec*Cash*Zero: what “original people”, you complete g1mp?

You think your hater-buddies were the first to come up with consolidation categories? Tell you what - seeing as you’re on your high-horse, why don’t YOU tell us (TINu) who was the first proponent of the idea…?

    You’re a j0ke, son…

All you needed to do was get rid of the console and tv posts( the ones for weekly shows anyway, that are released with out fail) then would be fine

  36. care
    November 23rd, 2008 | 11:57

tom I dont agree, some people actually like it.
Just that you do not have a console at home or dont download TV shows does not say everyone feels the same way.
