New lie detector for Skype users
I was always thinking there’s a lot of business potential hidden behind Skype, and here’s one example: Skype is to offer the KishKish Lie Detector, which is made by BATM, as an add-on for customers. It analyses audio streams over a Skype call in real time and illustrates the stress levels of the other person. Paul Amery, director of Skype developer programme said: “This is a really excellent application, and the kind of thing we want to see more of. “Lie Detector is the latest in a variety of product in our premium add-on programme which greatly enhance the Skype communication experience.” No price has yet been set on the application, or a roll-out date. The lie detector is the latest products which Kishkish has designed for Skype users, with others including voice mail and call recorder. I would like to see the results first, if this can really work, but hey, that’s a cool idea!

Hope they’ll make something like that for Google Talk, ‘cos the idea is GREAT!
That is an invasion of privacy!
Tom, then complain about a real invasion of privacy, like the patriot act.
patriot act, a flash name to pull people away from the real truth of it. IE i call it the Nazi Act
what is the world coming too..?
great thing? so you’d feel comfortable talking to someone not knowing whether they are able to see that you’re lying or not? this could wreak havoc for business conversations and like… not a good idea at all – unless both parties are aware that the program is being used.
looks like all the liars are speaking up against it… hahaha
Doesn’t work… Only thing it measures is the level of speaker’s voice…Not much of a true lie detector.
nice..only if it was so easy…
Ah, the irony, calling this a ‘lie detector’ is itself a falsehood. Vocal stress detector, perhaps, albeit not even necessarily that reliably. But since vocal stress can be caused by all kinds of things, well where’s the fun in that? So instead we’ll lie and call it a lie detector, and we’ll giggle when some guy stressed out by the death of his dog gets fired by his boss who thinks he’s being lied to. Ain’t technology grand?
Nothing new here as Sharper Image used to sell a devise that would detect stress levels on phone calls. If one of the parties know it’s in use then it’s not illegal…. at least not in the USA. Also a similar device was sold by Sharper Image that was built into a pair of glasses. The person wearing the glasses would have light level that they could see inside the pair of glasses. It would detect stress levels in a person who you were talking to.
YeahRight is right :p
A real lie detector measures pulse rate and various other things apart from voice stess and even then its debateable becuase all it really does is measure stress.
Imagine you were being interviewed by the police? Weather you were guilty or innocent you would be stressed wouldn’t you? Thats why lie detectors aren’t used in the legal process.
So its a gimmick really nothing more.
