New design at IMDB
The Earth’s biggest movie database launched the new design during this weekend. Yeah, IMDB.com was updated with the new fresh look, which replaced the old one. As in case of every new thing, I’m little confused now. It’s sure this upgrade moved the website further, it looks way more like Web 2.0 website now, but I have some problems with orientation and finding stuff on it right now. Yeah, it’s probably just a matter of time, but I’m one of these people raising hand for idea “leave it if it works”. Anyway, all the information which is the reason why people go there is still present, so it will probably need just few weeks to get use to it. What do you think about the new design?

nice design, have to get used to it
looks cool…
A little confused for me, but it’s matter of time…let’s have get used to it
old news?
is it new? doesn’t really look new… looks the same? well… i guess maybe i have to “use” it a bit more then say my piece…
Bad.
I do not like that the poster have been made smaller and moved to the side – and that an aggresive looking, and bigger, ad space have been moved closer to the center. Same thing with the all important score, moved out on the side.
The “feel” for a movie have been higly reduced in the process.
A pretty nice layout, but they went a wee bit div-crazy. Even the left side navigation lists are made up of divs. There’s a list-element just for that damnit…
It’s updated, I would not call it new. Although it looks nicer I liked the old one better. I don’t like the rating in the upper right corner and you can absolutely forget the recommended movies.
Didn’t like it.
well, i do prefer the ‘old’ design. You could find anything way faster, because the colors and columns helped you much more than now, with an all-white style and so small font size.
i like the new rating system, up there, by the way.
did you see that they explain on the website why they changed? i don’t quite agree with their reasons, by the way.
maybe now it’s more ’stylish’, but it’s much more messy and less functional. and it’s not just a matter of getting used to it. colours work to separate sections, and now everything looks the same.
some changes (like when they added the thumnails in all websites) improved the website. this last one hasn’t.
It would be good, if they would put up a skin chooser, so those who don’t like this new design, can switch back to the old one.
I don’t see anything new. This design has been available for months actually.
I dont see anything new either
Very confusing!
I’ll stick to the old one as long as possible

Umm dudes, IMDB has been appearing like that for me in Canada for weeks, atleast 2 for sure.
Maybe the logo has changed. It’s the same page with the search right at the top I really don’t get what problems you guys are having.
I’m confused to what is confusing about the “new” design.
looks like fuckin banana
I couldn’t agree with you more. I was there last night thinking…”wait a minute, what’s going on here?” I thought I was a having a brain fart or something. Now I know…
Looks terrible on big screens, it’s the worst layout change I’ve ever seen. I was very disappointed yesterday when it first appeared (at least here).
Why change it, when it was fine?
don’t like the new layout one bit. Will stick to the old one as long as possible
The old one was probably better. Now everything has been moved around with more white space in the middle. Don’t know if this is considered stylish, but it’s certainly not functional.
ahhhh
so many lazy people around (and seems conservative too), most of u will dig it in a few days
i remember the same complains when allmusic changed, in general, people doesn’t like changes but life is change dears
yep,”we’ve monitored how users behave on the imdb..”.. and so forth, what a bullshit.as said here before, terrible layout with user reviews on the right, and white background makes it hard to find anything on the left side.if i wanted to wine a bit more i’d say it hurts my eyes:)
i too will be using the old one as long as possible, thx for the link btw..
i like the new design more. it looks more modern, old design was…ermmmmmm… old
change is generally a good thing whatever way you look at it
They needed a new design as it will save TONS of bandwidth. It’s much easier to use CSS code to modify in the future then to repeat multiple HTML formatting codes.
I don’t like the new design though. I guess I have to get used to it.
These are old news. Anyway thanks for sharing!
