Lets hope they have these extra (fairly standard features nowadays) in the V2 iphone. Other phones have them!

Bluetooth file transfer.
Forward txt message option.
GPS with solid sat nav software or tom tom preferable bolt on / add in
Picture messages

Lets hope the phone doesnt get bulky as a result of the 3G transformation eh!

«what is the difference between the 2.5g and 3g, is it only the bandwidth?»

<>

Actually, 3G broadband data access is only properly available if your carrier has enabled HSDPA/HSUPA and you have an HSDPA compliant phone (or access card) - many carriers have not implemented this protocol as yet or are only just now in the process of doing so as the additional bandwidth requires a substantial upgrade to the transport layer at the back-end of the cellular networks. Most of the enhanced services mentioned above, such as streaming video calls/TV etc. require HSDPA activation on the network and phone (or data card)

My 2 Cents - it was a waste of time and misleading to it's consumers for Apple to release the iPhone without 3G capability.
[Check for individual phone specs.]

I've loved everything about my iPhone, it has it's faults but it's still far better then any other phone I've used. One of it's biggest drawbacks is since it's essentially the Mac OS running on a phone, it's going to lock up just like a Mac.

Some of it's minor issues such as MMS and lack of 3G as of now have more or less been explained, so they're not an issue anymore.

Australian dude. If your friend truly is a friend....try this. Have him mail it to you as if you forgot it while on vacation. Short little letter...."next time be more careful, probably lose your head if it wasn't strapped on" that sorta thing.
Send it via courier, no taxes, no duty, only returning your property to you.

every friend of mine whos got an iphone is loving it, whether he is a PC geek or a businessman. its especially the tiny details as one friend said that he's always amazed how his iphone remembers the position of every video he's watched on his iphone for future continuation (with a 2s rewind!) or how it automatically lowers the volume if ur plugging in your headphones, or how it fades out the music on an incoming or outgoing call and resumes it after you have finished etc.

hardcore users like me just love the installer and the abundance of software available.

«what is the difference between the 2.5g and 3g, is it only the bandwidth?»

Access to videocalls, wireless broadband (not wifi, 3g internet) anywhere it's available. Also, because you have high speed internet, access to "mobile tv" and such... Providing that you have those services in your country. They're pretty much everywhere in Europe.

@ #15 AKF

1. Yes, you would have to pay tax
2. No, the $399 price does not include tax.
3. If your freind sends the phone Delivery Duty Paid, he will have to pay $96 in tax. Austrian taxes are fairly high.
