New 3G iPhone will hit stores on June 9
The 3G iPhone will be announced June 9, the likely date of Apple CEO Steve Jobs’ keynote at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference, analysts said in research notes on Thursday. The 3G iPhone will be the “first of an impressive wave of new products” from Apple, wrote Citi analysts Richard Gardner and Yeechang Lee. They also expect an updated Mac laptop and iPod lines. The Apple conference is scheduled for June 9-13 in San Francisco. In addition to a 3G iPhone release in early June, the 2.5G model could have a “minor casing change” and a price drop to between US$299 and $349, compared to the current $399, wrote Shaw Wu, an analyst with American Technology Research, in a research report.

Those predictions are consistent with a February prediction Gardner made that 3G iPhones will be announced by midyear. The 3G iPhone release will help Apple meet its target of shipping 10 million iPhones in 2008, Gardner wrote at the time. Apple is confident it will sell 10 million iPhones this year, officials said during a conference call on Wednesday to discuss the company’s second-quarter earnings. Apple sold more iPhones than expected during the quarter and iPhone inventories were not enough to meet the strong demand.

Never been a great one for phones. As long as they receive a call it’s alrite by me.
i’ve always like the sexy design of iphone (i’m using nokia 6300) n’ the design of a menu etc. but i ‘m not conviced ‘cuz it has not so much too offer esspecially lack of some of standards today. anyway its a good way to improve. good luck.
an iPhone isn’t that good of a phone anyway. I’m wondering if Apple is gonna hit its goal this time.

3G
Truly amazing ehh.
Nice to see a date finally. To me the shocking part is that their going to keep the current model iphone but lower it to $300.
That makes me belive the new one will be at the current $400 but only have 8GB of memory
I’m hoping they make 16gb the standard and offer a 32gb model.
hey guys,
If I was to receive an iPhone from a friend from the US to Austria, will I have to pay tax. Also is the price tag of 399$ with tax or without? And lastly, if he sends it Delivery Duty Paid, then how much would he pay in this case?
If you have an answer to any of these questions please answer
who buys this crap… apple blows
Iphones interface is a copy of neonod. Bur much nicer
@ #15 AKF
1. Yes, you would have to pay tax
2. No, the $399 price does not include tax.
3. If your freind sends the phone Delivery Duty Paid, he will have to pay $96 in tax. Austrian taxes are fairly high.
I just had my iphone yesterday , guess how i feel?..
what is the difference between the 2.5g and 3g, is it only the bandwidth?
«what is the difference between the 2.5g and 3g, is it only the bandwidth?»
Access to videocalls, wireless broadband (not wifi, 3g internet) anywhere it’s available. Also, because you have high speed internet, access to “mobile tv” and such… Providing that you have those services in your country. They’re pretty much everywhere in Europe.
Oh, and actually, in Europe there are already lots of phones with 3.5g
I heard then in Japan there is commercial networks for 4G already. Is it true?
Finally iPhone is adapted to Swedish standard
every friend of mine whos got an iphone is loving it, whether he is a PC geek or a businessman. its especially the tiny details as one friend said that he’s always amazed how his iphone remembers the position of every video he’s watched on his iphone for future continuation (with a 2s rewind!) or how it automatically lowers the volume if ur plugging in your headphones, or how it fades out the music on an incoming or outgoing call and resumes it after you have finished etc.
hardcore users like me just love the installer and the abundance of software available.
Australian dude. If your friend truly is a friend….try this. Have him mail it to you as if you forgot it while on vacation. Short little letter….”next time be more careful, probably lose your head if it wasn’t strapped on” that sorta thing.
Send it via courier, no taxes, no duty, only returning your property to you.
thanx for the answers but do you pay tax immediately when you buy it?
@25 that sounds about right, anyone of my friends who has one has loved it to death….i haven’t used one too much but i have used my brother’s ipod touch quite a bit, which shares many features of the iphone of course….
btw does anyone have any speculation on new features? im guessing 16 gigs and maybe a slightly different casing? anything else?
I’ve loved everything about my iPhone, it has it’s faults but it’s still far better then any other phone I’ve used. One of it’s biggest drawbacks is since it’s essentially the Mac OS running on a phone, it’s going to lock up just like a Mac.
Some of it’s minor issues such as MMS and lack of 3G as of now have more or less been explained, so they’re not an issue anymore.

Actually, 3G broadband data access is only properly available if your carrier has enabled HSDPA/HSUPA and you have an HSDPA compliant phone (or access card) - many carriers have not implemented this protocol as yet or are only just now in the process of doing so as the additional bandwidth requires a substantial upgrade to the transport layer at the back-end of the cellular networks. Most of the enhanced services mentioned above, such as streaming video calls/TV etc. require HSDPA activation on the network and phone (or data card)
My 2 Cents - it was a waste of time and misleading to it’s consumers for Apple to release the iPhone without 3G capability.
