Neverwinter Nights 2 Update 1.10.1115 READNFO-ViTALiTY
ViTALiTY are back from their longish sleep with a nice cracked patch for Neverwinter Nights 2. The patch itself has shed loads of changes. A few are listed below the rest can be read by following the changelog link. That would be all that could be said about this if it wasn’t for the READNFO tag in the release name. have a look yourself and read the interesting (for some) scene wars continue.

- Character Mode and Strategy Mode – In advance of the release of the Mask of the Betrayer expansion pack this September, we’ve included one of the major new revisions we’ve made to the camera and control modes. Now, the four camera modes (Top Down, Chase, Driving and Free Camera) have been consolidated into two modes that are more configurable and clearer to use than the old modes – Character Mode and Strategy Mode.
- These modes affect both the function of the camera and the controls for each mode, and are designed to be most efficient for the two primary styles of play – controlling a single character, and controlling a full party. Note that while the information given here refers to the default function of each mode, these modes are highly configurable. Please check out all of the options in the newly updated Options Menu. You can toggle which mode you are in by pressing the * key by default.
- Character Mode: In Character Mode, the camera follows behind and over the shoulder of the currently controlled character. This mode is useful for getting a good look at your surroundings and exploring an area while focused on controlling an individual character. While in Character Mode, by default, holding the Left Mouse Button down and moving the mouse to the left or right will turn the character. You can also turn by moving the mouse to the edge of the screen. Holding down the Middle Mouse Button or pressing the Arrow keys will allow you to rotate the camera around the currently controlled character.
- Strategy Mode: Strategy Mode is a top down Play Mode that is intended to make controlling a full party easier. This mode is most useful for controlling combat situations involving a full party of characters against a large number of enemies. In Strategy Mode, by default, you can click and drag to select multiple party members. You can rotate the camera either by holding the Middle Mouse Button and moving the mouse, by moving the mouse cursor to the edge of the screen, or by pressing the Arrow Keys.
- New Options Menu – Patch 1.07 also introduces a new options menu that gives you access to consolidated and clear options for each camera mode, and better organization of the already existing options.
- Marquee/Multi-Selection Revamp – Marquee and Multi-selection have been dramatically improved to make controlling a full party much easier. You can see the new improvements to Marquee and Multi-selection in the new Strategy Mode.

Not a dumb question, which isn’t answered in the NFO:
What’s the install order if you have the Mask of the Betrayer expansion that was put up here a week or two ago? Do we do the expansion and then this patch, or the patch and then this expansion, or the expansion only?
I think this patch is meant for all those that did not buy Mask of the Betrayer and only have the original. That way, they can also profit from some of the new features.

If you have Mask of the Betrayer installed, you do not need this patch nor crack. Happy gaming.

Shiny: it is sad that these respectful ’scene members’ must sink to such lame levels, resorting to name calling, complaining and flaming. The scene is something practically impossible to join and is probably one of the most secret organizations in modern society. To see something like that in the NFO, makes me disappointed in all of them.
No matter how many patches are released for this game, it is in my eyes still a beta that should of stayed in the shop for another year.
Just read the .NFO – I actually thought vitality were good ppl then I read that stuff. They need to calmdown, cause fairlight and reloaded are good. Vitality is good too but they just need to stop whining like woman.

is the patch incremental or complete?
i mean do i need to install all the previous patches as well in order before i install this patch?

Yes it might seem childish, but you have to understand something. What is the scene really?
Well, you know what I mean.
If you understand the scene as well as I do, then you will know that it’s all about having the skill to crack something. Then, if you have certain groups that don’t really have that skill or use “cheap workarounds”, it’s necessary to inform others of it.
If they didn’t do this, the scene would keep getting worse because the standards would become more blurred. As anyone can see today, the scene is not at all what it used to be. But, it is still not at its worst.
If these groups don’t keep each other in check by letting people know what’s going on, then the scene would become crap. I respect ViTALiTY for what they wrote in their NFO and for all the groups that stay true to the game.
Think about it…a lot of people can crack something in many different ways. But, there is a right way of cracking something…and that it: taking out ALL of the protection mechanism.
Now, as you have recently witnessed, BioShock was “cracked” by DarkCoder. Now, I am by no means dissing him/her. No, don’t get me wrong. He/she did a very good job “getting around” the protection mechanism that is SecuROM. But, it was not a true crack in that it did not completely remove the protection in the executable.
Like I said earlier, this name-calling and such is indeed very childish, but these guys are just pissed at what’s happening to the scene…the quality is turning into aXXo…
Anyway, I’m a little drunk right now so what I wrote might not be entirely comprehensible but you get the general idea of what I’m getting at here.
So, Mr. X, a little more understanding on your part would be nice…
scene blames anyone else to be a lamer, but as we see web-groups like FFF, SND, ICU etc. are cracking more and better than so called “scene crackers”, so don’t think that they are “cracking guru’s”, just because they are in some scene group

I’m not saying that only people who are in the scene know how to crack. That would be stupid. But, usually that’s where the most skilled crackers can be found and they follow rules that others don’t…that’s why the scene used to be so high quality…but lately it’s not so much.
Some crackers are against the whole scene thing and would rather distribute their cracks on the web. If that’s the way they wanna do it, it’s just fine. The only real reason why there’s an underground scene is because of better protection from law enforcement. But, that too, is not so great as we are seeing lately.
Personally, I like scene releases because they’re reliable and they’re usually faster than others.
If someone is a good cracker, they will usually get an invite to one of these scene groups if they make themselves known…unless they are against the scene from the beginning and prefer distributing their cracks on the web.
my computer doesnt’t recognize their crack as a valid Win32 application. Im running XP 64-bit, what can I do?
This fix works with the latest 1.10.1116 patch also.
All I will say is that with the new patch and this crack, my game runs 5x faster than it did before with the 1.07 and another ‘crew’’s fix. It was probably the patch, but it may have been the crack as I am low on memory (512)
