    First!

Think i’ll stick with Nero 7 for now. I only use it for burning data. Shitty software.

  2. September 12th, 2007 | 00:05

Like the UI in this nero version, by the way ner 7 sucks. I always have problems installing nero 7 and it always made my computer not respond, but when i installed nero8 i installed it with no problem. By the way nero 8 is better then nero 7,DUH.

nerooo is gayyy (except v6.6) — use k3b instead (yes, its a linux app, so indirectly, im tellin u to switch to linux also)

  14. September 12th, 2007 | 00:44

Nero RescueAgent might be interesting, but i wonder about this version optimize
for vista if you dont run vista.it took me a while to finally adopt nero 7,over the version 6
because nero vision is superior in version 7,this is a handy tool for whoever is doing
reverse engineering,ie,building back a dvd from different video sources.
if you are an anime fan, this is a must.while version 7 is still working under win98
probably ver8 is not,but i will try it.

  15. esse

Nero really is much too bloated to consider anymore. It’s bundled with so much unnecessary and unwanted software that really slows Vista down. I finally switched to Ashampoo and I’m not looking back. It truly is much better.

  20. EoN
    September 12th, 2007 | 01:16

    Hmmmmmm…Nero 8 already.
    • NEW easy-to-use and intuitive Nero StartSmart | Well for everything a first time. The last time I used Nero in any kind of smart mode it only became more dumber in usage.

    • One-click import and share to/from online communities* | Every community I’ve seen has very good uploading options. Mostly with one simple button called UPLOAD.

    • Playback on AVCHD and Blu-ray (BD-AV) video* | Here’s something new and I hope it works well.

    • Backup files to CDs, DVD’s, HD DVDs and Blu-Ray discs* | If this wasn’t present Nero would become almost useless.

    • Convert DVD Files to play on your iPod® or PSP™, and other portable devices | I have those tools too but they are only a few MB big and exactly do what they supposed to do. All the converting I’ve seen so far by Nero took alot of time and I’ve ended up with crappy looking vids.

    • Optimized for Windows Vista™ | The only real reason for this new Version I believe.

I’m a long time user of Nero but I stopped upgrading to newer versions after the release of 6.6.1.4
I’ve tried the 7 version but a tool should only do what it is build for. In this case only burning CD’s or DVD’s all the other build in options can make a tool worse not better.
Using Nero for Video editing never gave me any good vids or Video-dvd’s. I’ve tried it with every version and every time it was worse then when I used a Video-Editing tool like PowerDirector or Premiere. These tools give you a wide range of options Nero doesn’t have. But it does mean you have to learn to use those tools.
Nero is only marketing this as a plus knowing that the majority of their users will never try to learn these tools.
For us Torrent users this mean crap releases by people who think they actually know something because it was done with Nero.
As for putting photos on a cd or dvd. Any dvd-player that can use JPG you only need to make a data-cd, or dvd, and just put your photos on it.
For me Nero started adding more useless tools to it with every version upgrade.
Some upgrades are good. They are really needed but most of it is only junk and serves no real purpose.
I understand that there are plenty of people out there who simply don’t understand what they are doing and, even worse, are not willing to learn. You don’t hear me complain about them too much. Hey I need earn my living too by fixing their pc’s again after they screwed it up. :)
    And here’s another tip…
All you need is the Keygen and you can download the latest Nero version from their own FTP through an Anonymous account. http://ftp.nero.com
I hope they did one thing and that is giving the user full control of the video output format. Setting the Bitrate and such but I doubt it as this will require a certain level of knowledge which most users don’t have. And I meant no offense by that. Just stating some facts. You should see how many posting there are made by people who have a Codec problem and can’t solve it.
I hope for the best and prepare for the worst with a newer version of Nero. :)

  21. EoN
    September 12th, 2007 | 01:33

Ahum…It seems they’ve taken down their FTP-site. Sorry about posting that link.

ZWTiSO release works just fine for me - NFO doesn’t really elaborate on anything to do with the ZWTiSO release that supposedly needed to be propered - the release works just fine. pointless proper imo.

  23. September 12th, 2007 | 01:55

can someone post a rapidshare link to the keygen?

  24. BULLSHIT
    September 12th, 2007 | 01:56

WTF? Don’t, DO NOT, delete the previous zwitso release.
The torrent doesnt work unless you download it from neontorrents. to make matters worse, neontorrents dont allow you to sign up with a mail from a free provider, like gmail.

that is just BS. Im a bit dissappointed that rlslog missed this. Cause i sure as hell would have liked to know that before i deleted the zwitso release. :(

    September 12th, 2007 | 02:31

There is a nero lite and nero micro. micro is ~12Megs and lite is ~35Megs. Lite comes with audio codecs and micro is just plain nero.

If you don’t want the bloat, download one of the above versions.

I personally would never use a program named after a hygiene product (ashampoo? wth kind of name is that?).

And if you still don’t want to use nero, there are so many alternatives that it’s not even funny.

But i still wouldn’t use Adeoderant Burning Studio.

  29. WARniginginging

A System reboot was requested by a previous software installation (eg a Windows Update)

Any idea how to switch to DVD mode in this new version. Looks like it is sset to CD and I can’t figure out how to switch so I can burn my movies to DVD. Anyone have a clue? Anf the help files are for 7. I wonder if this is an incomplete version?

  51. Justin Hale
    September 13th, 2007 | 01:06

Bah! 3rd installation and keep getting that pirated key error and yes I know about the clean button on the keygen. I heard that if you delete the neropatentactivitation.exe in the installation directory it’ll fix it, anyone know if that works?

  52. numpton
    September 13th, 2007 | 02:46

When or if you install nero,it does give the option to customize it.Why whinge about all the bloat ? Once installed,Under tools > nero product-setup,you can add or remove any part of nero you want ! Apart from that god awful nero scout.Encoding dvd`s gives pretty good results. Doesn`t like divx 5 codec for some reason, also poor 3:2 pulldown (jerky playback) NTSC 29fps from 23fps.Good menu building, but could be better if the frames and buttons were editable.Burning disks can be problematic.Burn at half disks rated speed 8>4 16>8 ,to reduce stepped burns and coasters.

  53. DigitalOne
    September 13th, 2007 | 09:59

    @51: Justin Hale

yup..it works like a charm for me after deleting neropatentactivication.exe..

When you get the “Key is pirated” message coming up on Nero 8, just do the following to never see this message again:

    1. Go To: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nero\Shared\NL3\
    2. Delete the file “NeroPatentActivation.exe”

The program still works A1 with no problems whatsoever, just no more annoying Key is Pirated message.

  54. The One
    September 13th, 2007 | 11:41

Owell back to 7. This program just doesn’t give you the option of switching from CD to DVD like version 7 did from an easy drop down menu in smartstart. There just isn’t that many options now that I can see. Am I missing something? Plus all the help files are for version 7. I think this is a fake version or not complete. I would stay with version 7 till the real 8 version comes out!

I can’t figure out how to burn my movies any more. This version is alot slower too. Like clicking on nero burner takes about 10 seconds to come up verse like 3 before.

  55. The One
    September 13th, 2007 | 11:43

Look at the smartstart pickture they have above. Thats all the otions it list. See anything pertaining to DVD’s? I don’t.

  56. Pimp
    September 13th, 2007 | 15:14

    @54

    SmartStart is crap anyway.

Open up the Nero program & get rid of the smartstart junk. You’ll be wondering why you ever used SmartStart once you do that.

  57. The One
    September 13th, 2007 | 15:20

Ok Pimp…How do I burn my movies like I did before..I select Make your own DVD in version 7. I see no type of selection in version 8? Thanks!

  58. The One
    September 13th, 2007 | 15:28

Figured it out..Nero Vision…It keeps poping up that you have a pirated serial number. This must have phone home protection.

  59. SirDaz
    September 13th, 2007 | 19:51

After having some problems with the most recent version of Nero 7 I switched to 8, yep I got the pirated message, BUT the DVDs that I burned still worked flawlessly.

I gave WinAVI and several other conversion proggies a go, but to be honest Nero recoded the AVIs much better and faster than that did.

To burn an AVI to DVD :-

    1.Go to Smart Start
    2.Click Create And Edit
3.Click Author , Edit and Capture Video
4.Hover Over Make DVD…from selection select DVD video

The rest is as simple as it was in Nero 7, so anyone having any problems really should take time to click some stuff and work it out!

Converted and burned Blades Of Glory in around 40 minutes, most convertors that I’ve tried would have only just converted it by then. Credit where it is due.

As for switching between DVDs and CDs, Nero Burning Rom still has the usual CD/DVD selector.

And yep removing / renaming the NeroPatentActivation program does get rid of the annoying message (but the burns work with it anyway)

  60. wadfsadf

so is this release good or bad?

  61. EoN
    September 14th, 2007 | 02:46

For converting Avi, or most Single File Video formats, back to DVD use The Film Machine. With the proper encoder it’s easy to convert an Avi back to DVD. Only a few clicks, some reading and you are ready to go.

  62. Jonas
    September 17th, 2007 | 00:58

Hilarious… Why would ANYONE use a 1 GB burning application? Sure, Nero has a reputation, but they’re really going down the drain lately. This release badly need a Nero Lite version made from it.

  63. Nero8
    September 17th, 2007 | 04:48

#44 - After doing some extensive searching using Google, this is what I found:
(excerpt taken from a different website)

“When you run a Setup program to install any application, Setup may try to
update some files that your operating system is currently using. For example,
Setup may try to rename or to delete these files. If Setup cannot update these
files, Setup sets the PendingFileRenameOperations registry entry to a
non-empty value. You must manually restart your computer to update the files
that your operating system was using during the installation process. If you do
not restart your computer, these files are not updated. If you then try to install
another application (such as Visual Studio .NET), Microsoft Windows Installer
determines that the PendingFileRenameOperations registry entry is not empty.
Therefore, you receive the error message that appears in the “Symptoms”
    section of this article.
Instead of renaming the PendingFileRenameOperations registry entry, I simply
deleted it, since I had already rebooted several times and whatever program
was supposed to clean up the entry obviously was not going to do it.
Once the registry entry was gone, my problem was solved! When
encountering a problem that you can’t solve, try searching both Microsoft and
Google (which led me to Microsoft). Both have saved me much stress.”

I followed the instructions exactly, did the same thing (deleted the file) and Nero 8 installed flawlessly (used custom install)and have tried each function of Nero 8 and so far, program runs top-notch. Did notice however, via my Firewall notification that Nero 8 does want to “call-home”. I set my firewall to block all connections coming from Nero 8 and my serial remains “valid”.

Hope this helps some of you.

    Cheers

If you’re using Vista….try re-installing directX. Sounds funky, but I did some poking around and it might work. Hope it helps (probably not, but couldn’t hurt right?)

I deleted PendingFileRenameOperations (the one that pointed to a temp file) and the install worked perfectly, thanks blkpnthr!

Deleting the ‘PendingFileRenameOperations’ registry entry (from many places in the registry) worked for me. Make sure you delete all the entries.

I also get the smartsmart error “Warning: GetConfigSet() failed! - (line: 260, file.\NSSModel.cpp)”

I tried to configure Nero Home, it says it’s configured but the problem remains, startsmart won’t start…

Another question: opening nero express did you have the options to burn a securdisc-protected cd or dvd ?

I find out a way to run “StartSmart”, if you are using Windows Vista make sure the UAC (user account control) is activated.

In this way I managed to run it.

Anyway I hope they correct this bug in the next releases…

Pardon me if I’m being an idiot, but I keep getting the ‘Third party patent’ message suggesting I buy the program for %10 off.

Is there an easy fix for this or not? I read through the whole thread and nothing is getting rid of this.

    Thanks
