Need for Speed: ProStreet Demo from EA!
With all the nice scene releases today i almost forgot that the PC Demo for Need for Speed: ProStreet was released today. The game will officially be on sale November 14th which is about a week and a half away so now is a good time to get in some practice with the demo before the real thing arrives. This demo contains two distinct, exciting racing modes; Grip and the all-new Speed Challenge. Coming in at 795.49 MB which is reasonable and should only take a few hours at most on a standard broadband connection.

The PS3 demo contain 2 races- a speedtrap race and a grip race, and that’s it- the whole demo (which was 900mb)

Wow…Unreal 2k7, Crisis, and now this with just a couple day’s difference…dont game companies realize people play video games in the spring and summer, too?
The EA site su cks – can’t find ANY info on this game at all eg can you customize cars etc – there’s something mentioned about blueprints, but the links just bought up pages that didn’t load properly.. gg EA typical bloated web pages full of flash n stuff that doesn’t work..
So you all know, the demo is limited to 2 races, you can’t choose or modify your car, and there’s simply nothing else to do.
It seems that EA is trying to suck up to authorities or something by promoting “let’s get the races off the street”… and indeed it seems its all closed circuit/line racing. No traffic, no cops..
Handling is a bit weird and ’spongy’ for want of a better word. The only way I could reasonable control (in King mode) was by driving in bumper cam. Damage is inconsistent- a reasonably hard shunt can kill your car while on the other hard you can almost strip your car by swiping the barriers.
Definitely a rental before a buyal.
Downloaded and played; was a fan up to this one, liked carbon and most watned and what not, but this new NFS is GARBAGE!! What a bunch of crap!! They totally destroyed the control scheme, you can only crash once, (realistic, I know, but still…), and graphics aren’t even close to Sega Rally quality.
Pretty lame EA, almost as lame as Def Jam: Icon.

Meh, Games not all that great. I did pull of a killer dukes of hazzard jump and landed it. But there was no replay option so its impossible to share it. 5/10.

This game is so lame. It isn’t exciting at all, you just press accelerate and drive on almost straight line, booooring. Anybody who likes racing games should try Live For Speed. With demo you can drive online and feeling is much, much better than in NFS. I know that NFS and LFS aren’t same genre but just give it a try and the new love will be born
nfs lost it touch since the most wanted part … it’s all fun and all but when you release 100.ooo games with preaty much the same video engine and just a few things changed it kinda loses it’s fun … they should have stopped at most wanted … the only thing they are doing now is to rip ppl of there money … the new idea with the totaled is kinda nice actually … except that … it’s the same sh|t in a different package … i really hope this is the last of the series … they have destroyed enough of the nfs “legend”
Downloaded and played, crashed once, and that was it, might have been ok to crash just once but the car didnt even take any damage!! plus i started last with the leader getting a 10 second head start, ill stick with most wanted or underground this is lame, EA is just churning out games now, with no idea of quality it seems

this demo just really REALLY SUCKS ASS!!! damn i expected so much more! many bugs too! i hope the full game is better because else they will get the biggest load of complaints ever!
All I have to say is EA is happy with this one… since it is racing they can put in SOOO many ads and not worry about it
One stretch of road gave me about 6 unique companies different products… and I know this game will still be 50-60 bucks
Other than that , ran great on my machine at max rez/detail and it is just not a good game.
I didnt like this demo at all. I think Mopst Wanted is still the best, but even that got boring after a couple of days.
This demo is actually quite impressive, I turned on all graphics settings to maximum and the game simply looks AMAZING. It really lets you try 2 race types but none the less its very fun.
it maybe aint the same, but i rather stick with dirt than with prostreet. the demo sucks even if ud try to play the demo (new handling) with a racing wheel. but i dont give a sh!t about prostreet now, cuz this month some badass releases gonna make my day like cod4, assassins creed, ut, crysis, maybe hellgate

Anyone noticed the Need for Speed ProStreet_code.exe file in the Support folder of the installer? Why does a demo include a CD key checker for the retail version? I dont see the point.
I’m glad I stopped in here – I was disappointed with Most Wanted, and Carbon was okay, but I’m more into the “Lone Racer” experience. I’ve been waiting for another NFS Underground style of game, but it looks like I won’t be getting that. They hype machine promoted ProStreet as if it had NFSU qualities, but upon seeing the comments here it doesn’t look like it.
NFS:MW was a letdown because of the “catch up” feature. You can never get a far enough lead on the computer controlled opponents that they cannot catch you if you make ONE mistake. I didn’t have that problem in NFSU or NFSU2 – if I had enough lead, I knew I had cushion for errors. MW punishes you for every mistake, and it can be very irritating. If Prostreet is punishing you for ONE mistake – I for one will not be playing it. I have enough pain with MW already.
(I stopped playing at racer #3 – Ronnie – when he had crashed and I got a 25 “second” lead on him. I figured, no way he can beat me – he has a DB9 and I had a maxed-out Ford GT. I was turning in a tunnel, and the game decided to completely block the entrance with a cement truck! The cement truck was not visible until it was too late, so I ran right into it. Being fully away of the time I had, I started counting the seconds to my recovery – it took 4 seconds. before I reached the end of the tunnel, Ronnie – who I remind you I had a 25 second lead on – passed me and won the race! I ran a perfect race from that point, but could not catch him. The game’s catch-up feature does not work for you, only the computer… That was all I could take of MW).

Well, according to EA this game goes back to the Porsche Unleashed (Porsche 2000) formula. I personally don’t like it because it became more simulation than arcade – this makes sense since they now introduce a damage system on the game but the fun was lost.
Sales will say if this was a good move.

Well, I saw the game trailers.The cars look better than Carbon and obviously than Most Wanted.The surroundings look good.I liked the damage system though.

from what i have seen on youtube, this version has indeed awesome graphics, but still they did not fixed that sidewalk behavior. i mean, how does a car get over a sidewalk at 200km/h without its tires blowing up?!

i like the demo, mostly because i’m sick of all this underground bull. this NFS will go back to the roots and the roots are open circuits and high speed racing.
the steering is different, but not worse. like everything it takes a few rounds of getting used to, then you’ll forget all about it.
the cars and tracks look awesome.
the physics are not quite up to par, but it looks so unfinished in this department that it’s most likely a demo thing. same thing with the AI: it’s ridiculously easy to beat it, so it’s most likely to change in the retail version.
the game? BRING IT ON! i can’t wait to test the other cars on that desert track. =)

THIS GAME IS NOT WORKING ON MY COMPUTER!!!! i got geForce n6600, 1Gb RAM, intel Pentium IV 3066 Ghz, windows XP SP2. I can enter in the menus but when i chose a race, after a few seconds of shoing that crown on grey fond, it suddenly exits the game saying that error with Send, Don’t send. I have owned them all. Carbon was buggy and crashed to desktop all the time. So I tried this demo. When I launch the race…Crash. Not impressed so far. Guess I’ll save my money.
