In order to use this program I need some sort of external input device, such as a keyboard right? No way for me to create loops only using a laptop?
Traktor can be used by an external device (they sell proper attachments that simulate decks/mixer while having your laptop or pc work as the track holder and software platform/traktor) or you can use your keyboard/mouse (ie laptop keyboard, pc keyboard). You can set up shortcuts for creating loops on your keyboard.

yeh u can use a laptop, everything can be done digitally but u can use external devices to dj also

I have used traktor, virtual dj, and deckadance.
I had heard traktor was supposedly the best, so i tried it, and honestly found it a bit crap for my tastes. Kinda “loose” and didnt feel in control very well.
Deckadance was more “tight” and felt more in control, but at the time it didnt support the controller i was using.
Was also easy to customize the buttons and stuff.
And let you use plugins as well, if your into that.
Dont know about the newer versions, but it is worth a look.
But virtual dj, although it looks a bit fisher price, and cheesy, it is very powerful, and once you get the hang of it, you can make very nice mixes.
I have found it to be the easiest to get the hang of, and control.
I use it with an external mixer, and two eks controllers, and have grown to love it more than mixing vinyl.
Been using it for 2 years now, and obviosly had some growing pains with settings and such, but am comfartable with the version i have now.
So thats what i think, you might like traktor, who knows, but personally, I dont have much use for 4 decks, and all the whizz whams it comes with.

this program has had issues with my PCs for a while now, since 2.5 v .. i havent tried since then but looks nice new versions and I used to love using.. now though Serato Scratch Live is WAY better for vinyl emulation…

What I dont understand is how come whenever someone comes up with a “false virus” that others say its not real ?
Surely if your anti virus picks up somthing ,that would mean its a good scanner right ?
Or is there a program that will double check the false virus and confirm it ?

We dont double check as such, but assume that people that cry virus are using AVG or kaspersky (or some other free AV), which often report cracks/patches as trojans or viruses.
by virtue they are making changes to programs installed on ur computer, so they are not wrong. Thats why its a false positive. Better Av’s seem to see past these files without a worry.
Its become so common that everone just assumes its a false positive. get ESET, and ignore what other people say – will always catch trojans and viruses before extraction so no real danger

I’ve tried 4 or 5 peices of live dj software and this is the best by far,
Bpm studio was my favourite for a year or so till i got introduced to this,
it’s soo custimisable, you definatley need a real multi channel soundcard (to take advantage of it’s capibilities.
when starting it up you can set the way it talks to your soundcard/s to improve latency.
an external mixer is good to have with it, ( not essential) but it helps so you just use the keyb for deck control and fx/beat change etc etc..
if you need any help with it let me know as I am all for this proggie.

You can set up loops, cue in, cue out, re-loop etc etc on the fly or in advance with Traktor without the need for anything other than your laptop / PC.
(If your Laptop is good enough, you can have all 4 players looping whilst you play a 5 track off of a disk too).
I like a few others here have tried many apps to DJ with…
I have been using Traktor since it first came out and once you get used to it & what it can do, it stands tall against other apps.
But that’s the problem for most, yeah, you can play tunes & mix straight out the box in a few moments even without any previous DJ experience…
Out of the box it seems easy but lacking against some other programs… but, jump in with both feet & read, then re-read the rather large PDF that comes with it and start learning what this app can realy do and you won’t want to even think about other apps again.
It’s easy to start as I said, but if you want to use it to it’s fullest, then there is a huge learning curve.
The only problem I have ever had with it is the built in BPM reader… it’s not exactly the worlds greatest but if your a proper DJ this is overcome easily.
For live gigs (yes I DJ at a Pro Level) I use Traktor & Abelton Live side by side with a pair of 1200’s & a pair of Pioneer CDJ’s via a decent sound board.
For internet radio Traktor falls down a bit as it uses Ice-cast for going live, there are ways around this… dual sound cards & or a small mixer…
Myself, I use traktor on one sytem via a board & into another PC transmitting over ‘Shout Cast’.
If your serious about mixing & remixing, take your time to read the PDF, learn the program & learn about Harmonic Mixing…

Can someone Help me, Ive been using T3.3 Long Time but in this Version thr Music is “Jumping” a little Bit forward. I’ve been Testing all the Setings and got little changes when I’m changing the Latency…But the Sound Isnt like the Time before in v3.3…

Have any of you not noticed that this rls is for a so called v3.4 when the box clearly shows v.3.3 which is in fact the newest release.
I’m using F-secure with up-to-date virus definitions and it’s giving me a warning about “Trojan-GameThief.Win32.OnLineGames.soqu” from both crack .exe’s so it ain’t about the “cheap” AV programs… seems like a real infection to me. Won’t take the risk…

wasn’t too keen on v3.3 – much prefered 3.2
3.3 seemed to stutter and drift out of time more frequently even with a low latency soundcard.

i couldn’t get v3.4 to accept any midi signals from my soundcard – so my faderfox controller was dead in the water.
anyone else have a similar problem with this release?
