We keep the animal theme going with episode 7 of 8-part series into the shape of life around us. This one looks at how the ultimate animal could be present deep within the seas and oceans and not reading this very words right now. I couldn’t find National Geographic page dedicated to the series, but PBS showed it so I linked to their site instead…
At first blush, one might believe that animals like us – creatures with heads, eyes and brains – are a crowning achievement of evolution. But are we really? Animals like starfish, sea urchins and sea cucumbers have no head, eyes, or centralized brains, yet they have proven worthy competitors – in fact they can live in places inaccessible by many.
