National Geographic Secrets Of Shaving PDTV XViD-AERiAL
Nicks, cuts, razor burn, and all that money spent on blade after blade. Why on earth do we shave – is it all for the sake of vanity? Man began shaving more than 30,000 years ago with rocks, for razors. Today, razors rank among the sharpest tools ever created. “A razor blade can actually shear the atomic bonds in a piece of hair..” . And to give that razor sharp edge a gentler touch: “A lathering cream gives a very nice cushioning for the blade, so you get very nice lubricated shaving…” . So sit back, and enjoy. Your morning shave is a testament to the science, soldiers, a few madmen, and billions of dollars in technology that have made shaving with rocks, a horror of the past. An interesting look into the science involved in the research to create the ultimate razor.

A 30,000 year old habit, shaving has become an aesthetic obsession and a multi-billion dollar industry. Companies are implementing high-tech research techniques using mini-spy cameras and one-way mirrors to study how razors cut and even the styles people use to shave. This heated competition has turned into one of the greatest corporate rivalries of the 21st century with razor blade powerhouses Gillette and Schick each vying for a share of the marketplace. From primitive Stone Age razors to modern day razor blade marvels, Everyday Things: Shaving takes viewers behind the scenes of an industry that dates back farther than the great pharaohs of Egypt.

i mean come on this title has to be the funnies thing ive heard, doesnt NG do aliens etc
things like this interest me, and i have no idea why!
thanks for the post!
THIS is why I do not have cable! TV has gone to sh!t.
dude what is wrong with learning about the origins of shaving? gonna check this out, seems interesting
Seems interesting, in a weird way. I hate shaving either way.
I don’t like shaving. I like being clean shaved but it is annoying to have to shave every day. If there was a way that I could stop all hair growth temporally for a set amount of time I would go for it.
adds to list of things to invent…..
I wish they made a blade that could get it all in one clean swipe, something shaped like a ice-cream scooper except the part that swipes the ice-cream loose is actually a razor-blade. Then I can cup one ball at a time and give it a clean swipe.
I have no interest in this. I wax my face every morning.;)
Hell, I’m gonna watch it. If it has a chance of making me hate my morning shave less at all it’s worth checking out. I’d grow a beard if the damn thing didn’t itch so much.
@feffrey
I´m with you! Its like ultra-boring have to shave.
(maybe some sort of laser shaving machine? with no burned skin?)
@feffrey and MorbidGod, there is a way, that laser thingie, they do it for women, and men can do it to their facial hair aswell, you can read abuut it online. Just google around.
then maybe u might invest that money to it. I havent, yet!
Laser epilation for men.
Fkoorz its not that cheap, but if u hate shaving as much as I do
And naturally im a lil scared if it messes up my face, but Im guessing thats just a tiny risk.
Im considering it seriously since im very allergic to all kinds of stuff and shaving creams irritate the crap outta my skin. And my electric shaver doenst seem to do too well :S
I don’t like to shave either. The longest I have gone without shaving that I cant stand without itching all the tiume is about 2-3 months. Longer then that and I have to start trimming it down or it gets annoying.
.
My hair grows pretty fast, so I would have to shave the next morning if I shaved that very night. I hate it but I like beards/goatee’s/etcc. what I usually like to to do is have a goatee then shave my head so I kinda look like kane from cnc
This show looks cool I will watch it.
I just watched the cam version of bourne 3.. it was kind of boring but it was okay all in all 6/10.
Thanks for the heads up on this, great doc! Never knew it took $1-2bn in R&D to create Mach 3. It’s all a waste of money though and pushing products that consumers don’t need.
When they said it severed atomic bonds, I was thinking wtf splitting atoms. But obviously not :-p
Oh please. Someone uploads a torrent of this shit, but nobody uploads a torrent of the Lincoln documentary from yesterday. Laaaaaaaaaaame.
(no, that’s not to say that rlslog is lame; that’s to say that uploaders are lame)
gillette is the best and wilkinson should only make ladyshaves
get real ladies !! ho ho ho
Thanks for this!
One can say shaving is part art part science, and most of us don’t do it the right way. I hope this is more than just history and shows some useful techniques, downloading it right now.
Good god I hate shaving. I have one of those intense beard-growths where 1 hour after shaving i look like someone painted my beard-growth area with greyish paint – I look like some sort of theater-actor-woman with a drawn on beard.
@Huuba
Definitive shaving doesnt seem the solution, that would just look weird :S
Maybe something that would solve the question in seconds without water,razors,stupid creams and lots of time.
@blobsters
Hahahahaha… man that sounds pretty neat – good luck marketing that though “with one good swipe – YOUCH mothabeep..” I wouldn’t put my nutsack in a rattrap either… =) You should move on to the next version thinking up a way to minimize the risk of getting neutered… Then I am all for it =)
