Narnia Sample And Facts READNFO-mVS

Well there’s nothing like a big “fuck you” from a scene group every now and then, and that’s just what we have here. We know that a lot of groups steal from P2P and mVs promises to not be one of them, but I’m not sure if I want to believe that, although they might not do it as much as all the other groups I think they do it every once in a while. They also bring us a sample of the new Narnia movie, so maybe we can expect the whole this sometime soon. BTW the last paragraph mentions that they want proof that the AR was more than 10% off, well here it is: your rls was 624×240 which has an AR of 2.6:1, while the proper AR should be 2.35:1, which means the AR is off .25 which is 25%, so pwnd :D Might want to learn how to do simple math before arguing…

Here’s the message from their NFO:

“I would like to start off with a big fat american FUCK YOU to all the
sites that nuked us for “stealing from p2p”. Check all the p2p sites you
have now and see if this shit is on it yet you cunts. This is the same
video source as what happens in vegas. Here is a one minute video clip of
something that will probably be on torrents in a few hours but just to
prove we get the shit first here you go. We do not need to steal from p2p
we will leave that to the new groups out there like kamera. We do not
pre as soon as we get video since most of the time audio is capped after
since we do not want to waste our nights where we could be banging your
moms. Once again you may hate us but your hate only makes the mvs
stronger!!! (like the hulk) so all you poor traders getting nuked on our
rlses, feel free to tell your local nuker what a cunt he truly is, and
to feel the mVs cock up his ass.

As a side note, nukers trying to claim our vegas AR was 10% out, you
are a fucking joke. Make proof before writing shit like that. BTW we
know who you are and what grps you are related to, so think twice,
unless you would like to be schooled in the next mVs nfo.loly.”

    @5

    I have no clue why you’re dividing… If the AR is off you subtract the ARs, not divide them.

    2.6 - 2.35 = .25 (25%)

    I didn’t follow your math on that one at all Marceli
    where did you get the .15 from and how does it equal 15%?

    I made it about 10.6% if those ratios you provided are right.

    once again, you dont divide them, you subtract. and .25 is 25% because .25 is 25/100 which in turn is 25%

    You cant get percentages by subtracting them. You have to divide.

  19. freitax
    May 18th, 2008 | 03:18

    @Marceli

    subtract?for percentages?are you insane?
    the only interpretation of 25% is that their AR has 25% more (of 2.35) than it should!YOU DIVIDE! and yes it isn’t 25%! it’s 11% off!!!!!!jesus!

    let me show you…

    100 - 2.35
    x - 2.6 —>>> x=110,6%
    meaning is 10,6% off!!

  20. May 18th, 2008 | 03:18

    @18

    youre already working with percentages, youre just finding the difference between them (260% - 235% = 25%)…

  24. mathwiz
    May 18th, 2008 | 03:20

    @20
    AR is a ratio, not a percentage, and it wouldnt make any difference anyway. You have to divide to get a percentage difference from the numbers.
    If you subtract ARs you could end up with -1 which according to your logic is -100% and thats no pixels at all.

  25. StupidQuestion?
    May 18th, 2008 | 03:21

    (2.6/25)*100 to get percentage, if im correct, which im probably not. but anyway, that would leav 10.4

    so from 2.6 to 2.35 there would be a total difference of 10.4 PERCENT or a SUM difference of .25

  26. Logic
    May 18th, 2008 | 03:23

    You don’t just divide and you don’t simply subtract!
    %Error = [Observed - Expected]/[Expected] X 100%

    Therefore:
    [2.6-2.35]/[2.35] x 100%= 10.6%

    So yes their AR is off by more than 10%!!!!!

    I guess the question then comes to, how much did they crop? Because even if the AR of the video is wrong (because of over cropping) the video may not be stretched at all (for example, too tall actors or too short actors).
    In that case it should be nuked for over-cropping. I don’t know because I haven’t bothered to check out the release my self, but I just thought I would put in my two cents!

  27. Stanley D
    May 18th, 2008 | 03:24

    I thought off 10% from the proper meant 100(2.6-2.35)/2.35
    which is 10.6382978723404….% so I guess it is off by more than 10% Oh My God! Bet anyone watching this thing will be relegated to eternal damnation. mVS …Thanks for the movie .. I’ll be watching it.

  29. shadowsill
    May 18th, 2008 | 03:26

    as much as i loved your ownage, and while it certainly does still apply, the percent off is (2.6-2.35)/2.35*100=10.6%

    that’s middle school math people, jesus christ

  30. JL
    May 18th, 2008 | 03:26

    This would be my guess of how to calculate it…
    1.10 x 2.35 = 2.585 (This is ten percent higher than proper)
    .9 x 2.35 = 2.115 (This is ten percent lower than proper)

    If 2.35 is the proper aspect ratio. then 2.115 would be the minimum accepted ratio and 2.585 would be the maximum. Let me know if I’m wrong. Therefore 2.6 would be over the accepted aspect ratio but it’s very close.

    use percent error formula.
    |observed value - accepted value|/accepted value x 100

    |2.6-2.35|/2.35 x 100
    .25/2.35 x 100
    .1063 x 100
    10.63

    so assuming all the given information was true, they ARE over 10% off, but only by .63 of a percent

  35. grade3
    May 18th, 2008 | 03:29

    Marceli, you’re an F’ing moron. Even though you were technically right about it being more than 10% since the correct answer would be 10.6% and that rounds up to 11%, it is no where near 25%. They were off by .2% of being in spec. I am not going to rehash the formula for that answer as many already have. Elementary school kids have better math skills than you. At least the 10.6% is above 10 so you’re partially saved by accident.

    Wow… I can’t believe a post suggesting people to learn simple math could screw up so completely on simple math.

    Thank god some of the posters here can calculate percentages.

    Jesus christ that was pathetic.

    .25 can equal 25%… if it is a base of exactly 100. However if I had $2.60 and then I had $2.35 that would mean I lost $0.25. Now, obviously 10% of $2.60 is $0.26. So logic says that by having even less than 10% ($0.25) it can’t really equal 25%.

    Really, even if you can’t do simple math at least realize simple logic.

    If the aspect ratio of the film is that of PanaVision, which is 2.35:1 and their aspect ratio is 2.6:1, which falls between CinemaScope 55 (2.55:1) and Ultra PanaVision 70 (2.75:1), then there is definitely a nuke there.

    Next week, I’ll be talking about my argument about Pan and Scan and why it is a communist plot to steal from your widescreen enjoyment of film. See you then!!!!
