Guys from MESS are back with another dvdrip. It’s a little special choice this time, because we’re talking about Serbian war movie “Nafaka” (it is called “Krovni talas” in original). This movie tells the usual story about the cruelty of war and is expected to receive many awards and prizes soon. The language used is Serbian of course, but English subtitles are included (hardsubs) so you shouldn’t have any problems understanding the plot. The music in the movie is also worth listening.
“Nafaka” is a movie about a group of unusual “heroes” from Sarajevo, following their life in war and peace, through tragedy and sorrow but also experiencing the good things in life. All with the horrible war in the background and perhaps the even worse peace. The interesting thing in the movie is how neutral it is, with regards to that more than 10 000 civilians were killed in Sarajevo alone by the Serb/Cetnik aggressors. The movie is unusual since it follows many different characters and takes quite a few turns without giving away who is the main “hero” or “foe”.

It is interesting how Serbs are always shown as agressors. It was war and many people were killed by muslims/balija army. I am sick of American movies showing Serbs as terrorists. I want to say that Bosnian war was a very bloody war and there was no good and bad guys, everyone was bad.

hardsubs means the subtitles are embedded on the print. Not removable like srt, vobsub, idx, etc…
Hard subs mean they are burned onto the actual avi so you can’t remove them. The movie is in Serbian, its not dubbed.

@rick5446, just to be clear. There is no Serbo-Croatian language. You have Croatian and you have Serbian language. They are NOT the same and any combination is not possible.

Please just me make one simple objection here, first of all it is a BOSNIAN movie and should not be confused with SERBIAN, second of all, there is something called BOSNIAN, as in BOSNIAN language, there is no SERBO-Croatian, nor is this movie in SERBIAN, it is in the BOSNIAN language… Please correct all of the statements, as this movie should not pass as a SERBIAN movie.

the film is a Bosnian production. the language we all speak is South Slavic, or Ser/Cro/Bos/Mon. or Serbo-Croatian. who cares? as long as people create good films, literature, etc… who gives a fuck about a political name given to a set of sounds we make to communicate.

I’ve always said that the Balkans need to be flooded, that way the Austrians will finally be able to have sea ports. A for the release, the movie is good, but i must say that it is disrespectful to say it’s a Serbian movie in serbian (all you had to do was read the IMDB listing). It’s the same as saying an Irish movie is british, or that a Palestinian movie is israeli. But coming from you, martin (you’re dutch if i’m not mistaken), it doesn’t come as much of a surprise, afterall, the dutch made a great job of protecting the civilians in the srebrenica enclave, a big smudge in the UN security forces records. Job well done!

Its a bit ridiculous calling Serbs aggressors in Bosnia when the 3rd of the population is Serb. But disregard truth, say it enough times and it becomes truth. Former Yugoslavia has always been a bloody region, read up on history. The truth is that there always have been hate and conflicts waiting to erupt. Former president of Yugoslavia Tito, avoided these by making politics so that Serbs, Croats, Bosnian, Albanian Needed to work together as one nation. After he died new politicians came and wanted to break out of Yugoslavia and make there own strong nations. To get support of this act they manipulated there people, with strong national propaganda ripping up old wounds. Finally some of the public became so manipulated, that they where ready to go next door a kill the family they might have know for years. And all this madness for what? Power, Recourses and money, ain´t war a bitch.

Little history lesson.
In medieval bosnia, there was a two group of people.
Serbs and Croats. After Turks invade balkan, some of Serbs and Croats convert to muslim religion. They call them self myslim Serbs until the second world war. After WW2, Yugoslav leader, Tito, gave them a nationality. And after brakup of Yugoslavia, they call them self Bosniaks. They speak Serbian language, becouse that is what they are. They try to hide they origin, but they last names will stay forever. Lastname just like other south slavic brothers.

Former Yugoslav republics are behind in development becouse of war. Once they where in top 10 nations.

As far as all my Balkan people are concerned, no one is saying that we should forget what has happened but living in the past is what is preventing us from moving on. Which is why the world still sees us as nothing more than savages hating their own tradition, history and blood. We can not judge every Serb based on one Cetnik, we can not judge every Croat based on one Ustasa and we can not judge every Muslim based on one Balija. There are good people and bad people and they should not be classified based on their religous beliefs but based on their integrety and humanity. Serbs did attack Sarajevo but there are also those who deffended it, just like Muslims, Croats, Jews and many atheists did.
