MySpace will share data with attorneys
MySpace and the 50 state attorneys general appear to have made peace. In a statement released Monday, MySpace, the popular social networking site, said it had agreed to hand over to the states the names, addresses and online profiles of thousands of known convicted sex offenders who have opened up accounts on the service. The company also said it had deleted the online profiles of 7,000 convicted sexual predators, whose names were flagged through the cross-matching of its membership rolls with a database of registered sex offenders maintained by Sentinel Tech Holding. The statement from MySpace came after a week of tensions between MySpace and the state attorneys general. Last Monday, state prosecutors demanded that MySpace reveal the results of its partnership with Sentinel and begin turning over names to law enforcement.
MySpace replied by saying that it wanted to comply but was legally hamstrung by the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, which required the company to receive a subpoena first before divulging user information to the government. State law enforcement officials viewed MySpace’s reaction as a snub, igniting a series of dueling news releases and television appearances by angry law enforcement officials. MySpace said it had already received subpoenas from a dozen states and had begun delivering names, registration data and profile information. The company said that that if states wanted more specific information on suspects, like the content of e-mail messages sent over the service, they would have to present specific search warrants to MySpace. The fun is over, pervs!

dont care about myspace… so commercial
Sexual Predators should be killed slowly with a dull rusty knife, then the real fun would begin.
Great! There getting rid of the sexual predators on myspace. Now if they could only do something about all the 12-15 yr. olds who pose as older girls, post pics that would make Hugh Hefner blush, and invite their friends to “whore me” by sending their profile to countless strangers, thus giving these bottom feeders something to prey on, maybe it would be a halfway decent service. Maybe they should incorporate some sort of “teenie bopper” protection. You know, like maybe…what’s the sum of 10+7???
….Just a thought
if you were a convicted pedo, would you really put your real name in the profile?
