“Marketing with FriendBlasterPro through MySpace accounts is the cutting edge way to advertise to a large audience and being cost effective at the same time”

yeah, if your a complete a$$hole

Not withstanding the fact that myspace is a convoluted mess in the first place. I think you follow my point. I don’t want to see posts for crap like mail bomber either :)

sorry, I usually don’t complain, but mad exposure of this sort of crap just clutters up the web with little gapers who don’t quit understanding the gravity of what they are doing.

@Lee.. that kid is an absolute knob. People that annoy the crap through me by spamming myspace are knobs, yes including bands. I’d never accept a band that does this. This should just be removed.

What the heck are you all doing with a myspace account anyways. I had one back in the day… but as soon as it became trendy I ditched it. If I’m not mistaken this type of tool shouldn’t effect anyone unless of course your using myspace….yes? no? I don’t know. But I think that’s how it goes. Either way,.. myspace is just ridiculous but it does fit right into the “Emotional Cry Baby Era” of this generation of kids and young adults, grow up damnit! Parents, wack your kids… although it is, and can be a useful marketing strategy due to its reach of people. :)

Duh, Lee knock it off. it’s obvious no one wants this app posted. Quit engaging in petty bickering with these people and take the app off.

No I won’t take it off. That’s like saying that the scene shouldn’t release porn because kids under 18 might see it. Onoes

  20. jackstraw
    January 31st, 2008 | 08:33

Lee sort of has a point. But, it seems to me that the basis of this argument would still one of privacy. Sure, I would not mind a bit if I got a friend request from some band for instance. However, unless grouped properly in terms of the site, how the hell does one know that I am a music freak and guitar player. In order to effectively filter stuff you have to release personal data, shopping habits, what have you.

Or…. you get pounded with stuff from some automated app(they are always bad). It takes man hours for users to delete or ignore idiots. It takes man hours to police the site(not that they dont have the cash lol).

So keeping that in mind, I didn’t ask for it, order it,etc. I don’t want it :)

I guess you draw the metaphorical line at whether or not said spammer does it for illegal-financial gain such as phishing etc. However, spamming is spamming. I think we all hate it.

Come on Lee,I was following you there for a sec. I don’t care what the scene does, but reporting on porn for instance is verging on bad form. This site gets mad exposure. In fact, this thread is probably already flippen indexed on page one of google for a few things.

I will have to mull this one over, but I seem to disagree. The scene firing off some porn DVD is in no way comparable to you folks reporting on it.

Heh, are you talking about the discovery channel sort of documentary news things or industry related documentaries?

That would be another non sequitur given the discussion at hand. Thanks for the banter though. This site actually makes me think from time to time. :) I am not trying to pick on you. You jumped into the fray on your own accord lol….

A scientific discussion of the phallus and how it works is not the same thing as seeing it rammed up some chicks turd cutter lol…

I think you have missed my point. I clearly don’t follow your last post, that I am certain of. If Mr.X jumped off a bridge would you do that as well.

The topic at hand is ranging from social responsibility to general netiquite.

Again, I am simply trying to make what would appear to be a valid point, at least from the perspective of an IT guy. I don’t claim to be coming from some sort of moral high ground.

And for what its worth, I live the U.S. Freedom of speech is one of the last few vestiges we enjoy given all the insanity going on with our current administration. I am not trying to stifle anything. I just think its a bad idea to accidentally or otherwise farm out apps that do nothing but bad and intrusive things. It’s a choice, just like everything else ;)

  33. Lee staff member
    January 31st, 2008 | 09:32

No, I don’t follow MrX or anything, I was just making the point that this isn’t the first thing to kick up controversy on here, as well as responding to your comment on reporting on porn is bad form (when actually many blogs do this?)

Also, if free-speech is all its cracked up to be, then you should all have no problem in me “reviewing” this app.

  34. jackstraw
    January 31st, 2008 | 09:33

See what I mean? #31 just got whacky exposure for the next week without pissing anyone off. In fact, I shall go give it a listen.

It seems like all the “trendy” people have moved from myspace to facebook. I used to be able to see pictures from private accounts on myspace. Too that loophole has been fixed. I don’t know if you can look at pictures of people who aren’t your friends on facebook. That would be fun.

  37. Lee staff member
    January 31st, 2008 | 09:38

Jack, that is also called “spamming”. Obviously your only privvy to spam when its in its obvious forms.

  38. jackstraw
    January 31st, 2008 | 09:46

Agreed, and no tunes either. It was an ad I saw for music. Hence, my point again.

I thought we were having a discussion….”Obviously your only privvy to spam when its in its obvious forms”

I would prefer if you did not take jabs at me and address the topic at hand. I know what comment spam is.

Thus far you have fundamentally responded with mrx did it or other people do it. You are still missing the point all together.

    J.

  39. Lee staff member
    January 31st, 2008 | 09:53

Well you leave yourself open to these jabs, when you promote spam in one form, and then whinge about it in another.

So the point is that this can be used for spam? So can outlook.

  43. jackstraw
    January 31st, 2008 | 10:14

I yield to the argument about the comment spam…. without reservation. I jumped the gun on that. My firm has a blog, I have to delete that crap as well.

You have still not only missed my point however, you have yet to actually respond to it. Lets keep this on topic if possible. I would rather not have this turn into another mrxgate.

while i would assume you don’t bother with myspace, I am guessing you would not want to get pounded by this crap.

We are not talking about some dude with a band who has this app. Upon your discussion about it, some malware asswipe is making a fortune somewhere and loads of people are pissing others off, wasting bandwidth, and causing general headaches for those who need to get work done, or download movies for that matter. Think about the big picture for a sec.

  46. henryv
    January 31st, 2008 | 11:28

  52. Lee staff member
    January 31st, 2008 | 13:45

Sorry JackStraw, I had to goto football training. I understand where your coming from, but its like anything. Do you think that microsoft wrote the Visual basic, C++, C# languages for virus creators to write viruses with? No, they wrote it for the good of all applications.

I’m not denying that this can be used for spamming, and malicious purposes, as can many, MANY other applications out there. Yes, actually I do have a MySpace, but if you don’t accept invites from any Joe Bloggs and Mary Jane you will go along way to reducing the spam.

I don’t see how this can affect people downloading movies or music, as myspace have their own servers with their own bandwith and doesn’t affect you or I downloading off our BitTorrent or Usenet, Etc. etc. etc.

I hope I cleared most things up.

myspace is a disorganized turd of a site that makes it easy for things like friendblaster to be created

will i download it? sure, i like free things.

will i use it? probably not, i don’t have a band to promote, or a piece of malware that needs distributing :P

    @LEE

How would you feel about posting a RLSlog tool that lets you “promote” your band on these messege boards?

What if you woke up and every single comments section was filled with “Check out my band blah blah”

If everyone wants this off why not just take it off?

Could Lee be the new Mr. X?

  65. canvasch
    January 31st, 2008 | 17:23

    This thing? It’s a BIT annoying…

  72. gHoul
    January 31st, 2008 | 19:15

wow so many babies… see an application like this and start crying. in the TOS you have to agree NOT TO SPAM! if you SPAM myspace… they will delete your account. they have an entire department just for that. I use this application on a daily basis.

I have a indie rock band here in Orange County, CA and this program has brought us tons of more online fans and filled seats at shows on tour… just check our most recent comments (www.myspace.com/vale) they mostly start with “thanks for the request” we have even become some of their most top listened bands. and they would of never found out about us wihout this tool… or the way I used to do it spending HOURS and HOURS a day hunting down people that liked similar music and manualy adding them.

so in the wrong hands this can send out Macy Gift Card spam messages… but a lot of people use it for a good cause.

“By the way, if anyone here is in advertising or marketing…. kill yourself. No, no, no it’s just a little thought. I’m just trying to plant seeds. Maybe one day, they’ll take root – I don’t know. You try, you do what you can. Kill yourself. Seriously though, if you are, do. Aaah, no really, there’s no rationalization for what you do and you are Satan’s little helpers, Okay – kill yourself – seriously. You are the ruiner of all things good, seriously. No this is not a joke, you’re going, “there’s going to be a joke coming,” there’s no f*cking joke coming. You are Satan’s spawn filling the world with bile and garbage. You are f*cked and you are f*cking us. Kill yourself.” – Bill Hicks

The only reason why people might be complaining here is its harder for them to pic up those 13 year old girls when everyone else is now using the same program to try to do it. First, to everyone asking how the crack works–if you have to ask, you probably don’t belong here.

Second, it’s been pointed out before–if you’re using this blog to download software, you really have no right to complain about the morals of spamming.

This software appears not to work anymore due to the large amount of changes myspace has recently made.

I guess, we need to wait for a new version to get cracked :P

id love for a newer version to be posted that isnt banned.

as far as the idiots going on and on about how this 'ruins the internet' or whatever, grow up. this is a TARGETTED tool, you pick where you want to get the 'friends' from to send the requests to. i use this for my band, and i send friend requests to people who are friends of bands that sound a bit like my band or that follow similar issues as we do. we've introduced a lot of people to our music who have really loved it.
