My Daughters Secret 2007 R5 XviD-RESERVED

Guys from RESERVED with yet another R5 release. My Daughters Secret is a fairly unknown Canadian mysterious thriller which didn’t even make it to the big screen but was aired on US paid channels sometime in October. You can’t expect too much according to the reviews, the acting isn’t too gripping and the whole plot is very predictable. This release in standard 1 CD quality contains Russian and Ukrainian subtitles, audio is English.

Katlin Palmerston is a 17-year-old girl who lives a privileged existence with her stockbroker father Alastair, mother Valerie and little brother Terry, but a dangerous addiction to gambling has a devasting effect on her and her family. Katlin’s world starts to crumble when she wins $50 during a poker game with friends. Lured by the promise of status and riches, Katlin dabbles in a seemingly innocent high school sports pool. It’s this second experience with winning that initiates her downward spiral. Her next venture takes her to an Internet roulette game, With the help of her parents’ credit cards, she quickly loses thousands of dollars, and before she knows it, Katlin is forced to repay her debt to a loan shark — by whatever means she can.

    Try another Canadian film called “Lucky Girl” with Elisha Cuthbert for a highly rated movie which also covers the issue of gambling addiction.

    What is so different between a R1 and a R5 DVD? In each case, it’s a DVD and the quality is DVD.

    For me the only difference is russian (R5) audio.

    Following up on #2 from black cat above, anyone know if this is a remake of “Lucky Girl” because the protagonist’s name of Katlin Palmerston is used in both.

    I suspect the only reason this got green-lit was the popularity of Texas Hold’em that’s happened since “Lucky Girl” in 2001.

    Martin’s pretty accurate to call “Lucky Girl” as having a very predictable plot so I don’t expect anything more from this one.

    There is a “remarkable” difference between R1 and R5. Maybe not when you downnload the XVID version but if you get the DVDR the image quality is alot cleaner in R1.

    that whole description didnt’ even really describe what this movie is about. it can all be summed up much easier by just saying it’s about a girl who gets tied up with 2 bad guys who rob her mothers store. as for the movie itself, it sucks, it wasn’t released in theatres because it was never meant to be, it’s a simple made-for-tv movie only. and with made for tv movies you know they are always low budget and with weak acting. that’s the norm.

    Seems like the writer is bent on preaching the downs of gambling… I would rather read a gambling addictions pamphlet and get more information.

    For those comparing this to Lucky Girl;

    I haven’t watched either movie, but if you follow the IMDb link for this movie, you will see that there is nobody named Katlin listed among the characters.

    This discription doesnt match the movie…

    this is the real synopsys of “My Daughter’s Secret” from IMDB:

    When the bad-news boyfriend (Steve Byers) of 17-year-old Justine (Nina Dobrev) robs the store where her mother, Denise (Jennifer Grant), works, Justine is torn between telling the truth and sending her boyfriend to prison, or keeping the secret from her mother, which soon starts to tear her apart.

    THE DISCRIPTION OF THE MOVIE IS FOR “LUCKY GIRL”, BUT THE TORRENT DOWNLOADS “MY DAUGHTER’S SECRET”

    I think the confusion may have been because “Lucky Girl” was the original name of the film, but it was released in the US as “My Daughter’s Secret Life”.

    This was a poorly made film with weak acting. The plot was very predictable, and Lifetime made a poor choice by making this movie/putting it on air.
