F()ck all of these audio applications. That’s the only kind of applications you see nowadays on Releaselog; applications to mess around with your audio. End Result = Crap

Er, some of us actually find these quite useful. If you don’t like it, read on and quit complaining. I’ve been tinkering with sequencers for years and have never heard of this one. Looks very interesting though, thanks Christian.

@2 stfu – rlslog doesn’t post enough audio apps… out of the last 21 apps posted, 3 are audio related. it just happens that they were released recently. deal with it.

all in all, this looks like just another bare minimum recorder. haven’t used it, but description doesn’t say anything about multi-tracking or track automation. The only value i can see in this is a light weight host for your VSTs.

on the other hand, if you just want to record your solo version of smoke on the water from your integrated line in, this is a quick download that will get the job done. pair this with the VST of Guitar Rig and it could be a fun little recording box. just don’t try to monitor while you play… delay from the line in will likely kill you :-)

    does this work with vista

  8. stratman
    January 3rd, 2008 | 22:03

Looks like a very ‘basic’ app. I think I’ll stick with Sonar and Soundforge.

As for the comment that ‘there’s too many audio apps’… well personally I don’t think there’s enough. As it has already been said there has only been 2 or 3 in the past 20ish apps posted here.

  9. cctv

would be nice to have some more VSTs and VSTis…. :-)

Here’s an off-topic question; Why do so many people care about the film “Hitman”? Generally, films that are based on video games are almost always horrible. I could care less about the film.

    @indianpunk

depends what you want to do… ableton has great tutorial/explanation vids on their website and an active forum. if you like playing with pre-recorded samples, live is a pretty complete package already. you just have to learn how it actually works. great support for hardware audio interfaces too. but if you’re serious about recording audio then start saving and learn pro-tools now.

    h**p://www.ableton.com/tutorials
    h**p://www.ableton.com/pages/forum

highly recommend Reason if you have a MIDI keyboard. live plays nice with rewire, so you can play and record all of reason’s synths and samplers straight from live. seriously more fun than a barrel of monkeys.

I learned in school, so maybe someone else can chime in on some good tutorials/forums.

  14. Jaggerson
    January 3rd, 2008 | 23:43

Doesn’t look too bad for a lightweight app, but doesn’t look like it supports ReWire.

    to homomobo:

For anyone recording guitar from the line-in on their crappy built in soundcard, the ASIO4ALL driver will get you down below 10ms latency going through Guitar Rig! That’s wot I did before buying something decent.

  17. dannybuoy
    January 4th, 2008 | 00:06

indianpunk: go to audionews.ru. Best private tracker i know of for audio stuff. They only occassionally open up the signups, and it’s open 31st Dec to 3rd Jan (today). You might get lucky!

They are very picky about their ratio rules, so make sure you upload plenty or you will be swiftly banned!

  18. hobomobo
    January 4th, 2008 | 01:05

thanks dannybuoy! i picked up a second hand MOTU 828 interface forever ago, but i’m checking out that driver right now. my laptop has the blasted Sigmatel C-major.

also confirming that audionews.ru is open for registration. grabbed myself a spot :-)

    January 4th, 2008 | 01:41

@ Indian punk, check out mp3unsigned. The place is invaluable and youtube for some tutorial vids from others. Also gotta echo audionews.ru, been there for a good bit and im well pleased not only with the apps but the speeds! :)

Asio4all kicks >insert suitable word here< (i dont want to be banned! lol) even with a cheapo sound card it can still cut latency amazingly.

On to the app, i might give this a go! Could be a cool sketch pad for audio. FL is my weapon of choice for alll my audio needs but this might help for something? lol More than likely be uninstalled in a few minutes after installation! :D

lmao @22. “It’s really not even worth registering for unless you make your own music.” an accidental endorsement

I tested the ASIO4ALL driver with live. Just looped the output jack back in and used live’s latency test set. here’s the verdict on an Inspiron 6400 core duo 2ghz 2gig

    stock driver: 144ms
    ASIO4ALL: 14ms

wow. 10x improvement. this little driver could easily put off a $300 hardware interface purchase.

If you have an older laptop then the ASIO4ALL driver teamed with a light program like MUALB or Reaper and a $99 2/4ch mixer would make a cost effective portable idea capturing studio.

  42. Mike
    January 4th, 2008 | 06:16

Honestly, I can’t mention my displease with Mr. X in his own comment sections, because he always disables them. He does this because no one gives a crap about his so-called releases that he posts on here, so they send bad comments his way. It is so bad to have some freedom of speech here on RLSLog? Many members are like family which don’t deserve to have their comments disabled/being banned, and having this clown around to water down the site is truly pathetic.

This is THE BEST site for scene news and actual tech news. I don’t mind it when a new topic comes up and isn’t a movie release, but to have Whacked Videos, Jeopardy, and a ton of other TV shows on here is just worthless.

TO THE OWNER OF THE SITE – Please listen to your users and get rid of Mr. X!

  43. Mike
    January 4th, 2008 | 06:20

Also, go to Mr. X’s list of his recent additions to the site. They are mostly TV Shows. A TV show isn’t a scene release. It is just a rip that shows up on the internet right after the show – it’s not like a movie where we actually are waiting to get it, or don’t know where to find it.

PATHETIC MR. X, you are ruining an amazing site.

  44. Searles
    January 4th, 2008 | 06:26

    @44 Mike

Mike: “Also, go to Mr. X’s list of his recent additions to the site. They are mostly TV Shows.”

The reason why most of Mr. X’s posts are television shows is because all Mr. X does all day is sit on his fat a55 and watch television shows all day. Then he expects us to watch them just because he enjoys watching countless hours of television shows such as “Cops” or “Sex with mum and dad”. Lmao :P

    First Amendment

One of the most important amendments to the United States Constitution encapsulating several rights deemed essential to liberal democracy: freedom of religion, of speech, and of the press, and the right of the people to assemble and to petition the government. This amendment is one of those added to the Constitution as a bill of rights immediately after it was first drawn in order to assuage the concerns of those who feared the emergence of an overbearing central government. In the twentieth century, the Supreme Court, drawing on the due process wording of the Fourteenth Amendment, has argued that First Amendment freedoms are also protected from impairment by the states.

    THIS MEANS YOU TOO!!

Speaking of audio apps, I’ve been finding UbuntuStudio very nice and complete, anyone interested in audio editing/creation owes it to themselves to give it a try, it even works pretty good on my laptop but it’s flawless on my old comp that I put a $25 Audigy 2 in :)

I didn’t specify which spammer jacked the thread because they all did. I was participating in the thread back when we were talking about the release at the top of this page, and related audio stuff…

    Threadjack: (courtesy of urbandictionary.com)

“To take over the content of a message thread by changing the subject of discourse to a topic outside the purview of the original subject and/or forum, while maintaining the subject line. A form of amusement for trolls. Threadjacking is distinguished from flaming, as flames are a quasi-personal attack on a poster or on a poster’s style of discourse, where threadjacking is deliberatly steering the discussion offtopic.”

    Get rid of Mr.X!

  63. JasinZ28
    January 4th, 2008 | 08:33

    @ Mr.X

Swedish law limits freedom of speech
    on the Internet

The 24th of October 1998 Sweden got a new law on personal data, “PUL”, which is based on EU legislation. The law makes it illegal to give names public on the net, without the mentioned persons “unmistakable consent”.

The law makes it illegal to critique people on home- and chatpages. The punishment: Up to two years in prison.

The law makes an exception for “journalistic purposes”, but it has been unclear how to define journalism on the net. Similar legislation has been adopted in other EU-countries.

This site analyses, from a swedish point of view, the law and it´s consequences for freedom of speech on the net. But also how the law effects the citizens right of personal integrity.

It also gives an example on how Swedish communities have been affected. The Community Gällivare in the arctic part of Sweden has had a long fight with the Swedish Data inspection in the late 90ties on the right to publish protocols from municipal board meetings on the net. The problem: The protocols contained names of people.

yup i think Searles has a lawsuit against RLSLOG..

I am glad they posted his email. The simple solution is to not be an ignorant little kid on the internet, or it will come back to haunt you. You don’t want to get banned, or have your email posted, don’t be a shi@thead. Its really that simple. No one gives a hoot about your opinions anyway. What exactly gives folks the right to disrespect people. Ban the monkey boys and move on.

It’s their site, they run it their way. Recently, I’ve been thinking comments should be removed, all we get is spammers, and every once in a while, someone will say if the release is worth d/ling or where to get the torrents. But the other 95% of the posts is pure crap…

@68 First off, you should be on list as well for a being a trouble maker. Secondly, as mentioned earlier this is not a democracy. These folks spend a good bit of their time attempting to provide a free service to you. You seem to spend a good bit of time ridiculing how others do things. You and the rest of the peanut gallery need to give them the respect they deserve. If you don’t like the way rlslog does things, then start your own site and assume the same risk they do by posting torrents.

And WTF “Mr. X clearly didnt follow releaselog’s promise to us”
what are you 6 years old? Life is not fair and anyone who’s balls have made their way to their nutsack realize this.

    January 4th, 2008 | 09:10

It’s sadly obvious that rlslog can’t figure out how to control their own site. I’m sorry about searles, that sucks a55. rlslog only have themselves to blame. They chose to make this a free-for-all, so whaddya expect? IT’s going to be HIGH maintenance. But publishing email addresses – that is disgusting no question.

Simple solution, what a lot of ppl have been saying for ages: registration required before posting!!!!! Then banning won’t require dumb IP bans and everyone will be happy. You CANNOT get rid of dumbass posters! Period. If you think you can, you’re in lala land. This is net – like the real world, it’s full of idiots. That’s why forums have account-banning systems, so things don’t get out of control like this.

Until this site is reg-required, I suggest everyone keep their email addresses to themselves. Even then, *NEVER* use your primary email, use an alias just in case.

Futhermore, I didn’t contradict anything. I made a generalization about the nitwits who make completely false claims about people. Oddly enough, you seemed to jump right into the pool of them.

The lesson to be learned here by you kids is don’t be an as@ and you won’t be treated like one. If I ran this site I would clamp down on it big time. Its not hard to do. There are plenty of WP mods to fix this issue.

I would expect email verification to be coming by morning my time. You idiots can thank yourselves for that as well.

But as usual, I just opine.

I’d appreciate more comments about this MU.LAB software…

I doubt anyone in the scene themselves would stoop to something that low. Most of em have a code of conduct. This is kinda against everything the internet stands for. I mean we fight spammers alla time, and now we gotta fight stupid site admins too?

I always had respect for the non-establishment, they’re usually more ethical (ironically) than the corporations that hate em. But this unethical and horrible. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen this happen on ANY site.

@76 I prefer cool edit pro, which I guess is adobe audition now. Its closer to industry standard stuff. Its easy to find audition ;) I ran through the app real quick but couldn’t get past the GUI. It looks like it was designed by some kid.

    Hope that helps.

Jackstraw, how can you say it’s acceptable to publish someone’s private email on a public site without their consent, and even after _explicitly_ stating that it will not be shown?

Regardless of whether you think the world will magically fix itself if everyone stops being an a$s, I would certainly put the above firmly into the category of a$s-like behaviour.

So we have idiot posters, and now we have idiot admins. Is the world a better place? I think not.

And nobody gives a rats a$s what your email address is. If you think that proves something, you miss the point entirely.

@79 Like I said, I am all for a healthy debate, however, I did not say that. Please quote me where I said that, and I might give you the time of day. For the record, I don’t condone the posting of his email. I would have done something far more severe, just not in public. Searles opened himself up to the onslaught that is likely to continue. Your position assumes that the internet somehow dictates people are not responsible for their own actions. Rather than suggesting nicely that folks don’t want to watch an ep. of Jeopardy for instance, he chose to attack the poster. While accurate its not illegal to be an idiot, it will invariably still get you in trouble ;)

@79 and yes, if people quit being an ass, the world would in fact fix itself… No more racism(searles has clearly demonstrated) et. al. While it may not be perfect, getting rid of hate would fix a range of things from war to the cost of flippen gas. We can tackle copyright issues in the next post lol…

    January 4th, 2008 | 10:07

@80 jackstraw, ok I accept you don’t condone what they did. That’s the main thing anyway. That’s simply not acceptable.

However I don’t agree with the whole “this is a dog-eat-dog world you brought it on yourself” bull. That simply condones a revenge mentality. “onslaught”?? Give me a break, we’re talking about a blog post. Does a stupid blog post give someone the right to hang your balls out to dry? I don’t think that’s particularly balanced, do you?

No, it’s an over-reaction. Commonly also seen in children. Yes, it was a childish post. But it was a childish reaction too. Posts can be deleted, simple. As for IP bans, given the nature of dynamic IPs, imo that hurts RLSLog more than the poster, don’t you think?

If RLSLog is having so much trouble managing user comments, then turn this into subscribe-only. Except now, I wouldn’t join, as I’m certainly NOT giving them my email address. RLSLog have just proven they can’t be trusted with it. Now THAT deserves an onslaught if anything does. In internet terms, it’s pure evil.

Your point about giving so much of their time for us, so we should be thankful, is not that valid, because they get PAID for doing this. This is a business, they have sponsors.

Unfortunately, what they don’t have is a privacy policy.

    January 4th, 2008 | 10:13

“this is a dog-eat-dog world you brought it on yourself”

I did not say that either. Please put your sh$t in one sock before attempting to argue with me. Futhermore, we are not talking about a blog post, we are talking about quite a few blog posts that indicate the same thing.

And again, your email is safe with these folks unless you are an utter piece of shiite.

@79 jack – agreed, we’d be better off without a$s-ness, but that takes educating people not to be a$ses. Usually by example as well as reasonable disincentives.

But being an a$s just because someone else was an a$s is actually what makes the world the way it is. Most if not all a$sholes are that way because someone was an a$shole to them in the past.

Mr. X, thanks for your excellent posts, especially the comedy and top gear. and the dvdscrs. and the dvdrips. and the occasional r5. and the last ufc.

Mr.X is just a total Muppet waste of space that should have been removed from this site weeks ago

    here are the reasons:

    - posts worthless TV repeats of gameshows like Jeopardy
    - is a proven racist
    - sermonises like a rightwing Christian
    - refers to the site’s visitors as ‘morons’
    - publishes people’s emails contrary to privacy agreements
    - and worst of all, is into shark porn

Some good points made by various people here…

    @jackstraw

Don’t be so naive to think that site’s like this are run by people just for fun.

There have always been ways to make money from other people’s work in the scene. Torrents and blogs made it much easier.

Ask Martin to give you a basic rundown of how the site works financially. That’s the best way to know how it all works. As a fun venture, rather than a business, I’m sure that info will be volunteered in a jiffy.

Hey, I use RSLog as one of my top checkpoints as is because it’s always been reliable when it comes to having valid/non-virused file downloads. But who in this day and age uses just *one* service for their downloads? RSLog also comes up with stuff that I haven’t heard of or seen so it’s a nice mix.

As for country, race, or religion, it pretty much doesn’t matter in the dark of the internet, thank Goddess. Besides, who in their right mind uses their real email or IP for stuff like this?

Mr. X and crew have provided a consistent service that I like. Don’t change a thing.

I’ve been reading all this crap for over a week now. People complaining about TV posts, calling Mr. X names, Mr. X acting like a child and disabling comments, etc. I’m rapidly coming to the conclusion that most of you won’t be happy until the admins say “Screw this!” and shut the site down. Is that what everyone wants?

    1. So what if episodes of TV shows are posted? Are you under the impression that this site has some kind of a limit on daily posts and that every time a TV show is posted, it somehow takes the place of a huge blockbuster movie release that you’ve been waiting for? Does your ISP give you so little bandwidth that the 50K or so that such posts take up on the page, is eating up your monthly quota? Or do you have an internet enforcer standing behind your chair who will shoot you if you don’t click on each and every post on this site? How do you people ever manage to walk through a store knowing that the shelves are full of products that you’re not going to buy? Do you go whining to the manager to try and get them to stop stocking everything you’re not personally interested in? Because I’m still using Windows 98SE, should I demand that RLSLog stop wasting my time by posting about games and apps that won’t run on my system? Here’s a radical idea: If you’re not interested in a post, DON’T CLICK ON IT!

    2. I’ve looked at the various posts by Mr. X and I have to wonder where all these allegations are coming from. So what if he posts about erotic topics, or even hardcore porn. Guess what? Some guys actually like that stuff. I download porn, does that make me a bad person? If you don’t like what he posts, see point one. Racism? Maybe I haven’t been paying attention, but I only saw one comment that MIGHT be construed as somewhat racist and for all I know, it might have been based on something that he read about the particular topic. (the shooting in Britain) In any case, get over it!

    3. The one valid criticism I’ve heard is that Mr. X is being immature by disabling comments. How anyone could be an internet user today and not expect to get some negative comments is beyond me. I’ve had people flame me for trying to help others, for saying I didn’t care for a particular post, etc. The anonymity of the net (yes, most of the net isn’t truly anonymous, but it’s not like 99% of the users know who anyone else is) gives people the courage to act like a$$holes. They say things they’d never say in person, mostly because they’d get their teeth knocked down their throat if they did. This is a fact of life if you use the net. Grow up!

This site needs a proper forum, so that all the whiners can have their own “Rants & Raves” board where they can post about how unfair the site is, what idiots they think the staff are, how nobody has yet posted the latest DVD screener, even though it’s been out for a full five minutes already, or how there are too many posts telling them about stuff they can get for free.

  93. henderson
    January 4th, 2008 | 15:15

    @94

    in response to your ‘points’

    1. here’s a radical idea for YOU: if you’re not interested in a post or a comment, move on and don’t write a f’king dissertation about it, why the hell do you even care so much? look in a mirror

    2. just because YOU haven’t seen the offensive stuff that Muppet X has been writing doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist, so take your blinkers off and accept the fact that maybe you don’t know what you’re talking about

    3. the very point you’re trying to make here is EXACTLY the problem with Muppet X – i.e. that he thinks that he can say or do whatever he wants because in normal life someone would knock his lights out faster than he can say ’shark porn’

  94. henderson
    January 4th, 2008 | 15:17

oh, and the reason we’re complaining about Muppet X is because we DO love the site and DON’T want it to be ruined by him and his pathetic apologists

I\’ve been browsing here and commenting for a while, I\’ve seen drama go up and down from trolling to spam to even this. For the most part the site never had much of an issue finding resolve, keyword nukes in posts ended up being a great addition to stop every post from being a series of swearing.

The latest outcome though is a bit disturbing, turning off comments shows the minority the result for their actions, but it also punishes the community at large, if the TV season wasn\’t so slow does that mean that for 24, House, Lost, Heroes, etc that comments would be cut-off despite the fanbase and appreciation of the users that rely on those posts from you guys? It seems like it probably would.

On top of this last night I saw the IP posting of the user and their email address. Yeah it\’s your site, your rules, it\’s private interests and policy, but there\’s a point for any user when they see something like that go down that makes them question, what are the real interests and policies of the site. I for one, have no trust in this site anymore, I will not be returning because I don\’t need to be on a site that feels that user privacy isn\’t a concern and are quick to out vital records onto the internet in such a scene as this. Too many other things are at work by the AA\’s to just write off actions like this as acceptable at any level.

It\’s been a good run, I liked helping out and posting tech info or talking about shows, but that time has ended abruptly due to these actions. Regardless of deleting the comment to cover the trail almost half a day later, it happened and now this site goes on my blocklist. Good luck with your site direction, I\’ll go back to IRC for discussion.
