    I’ve never understood the need to have an elaborate database of all the music, or movies or whatever that you own or have downloaded.

    A simple text listing is easy to search (press CTRL-F) and isn’t as likely to screw up on you as a complex database application. Sure, it doesn’t have glossy photos of covers and doesn’t cross-index everything under 50 different categories, but it’s simple, quick and easy. Not to mention that it takes up a fraction of the space needed for something like this.
